I wouldn't categorize the Blues or the Caps (the last 2 teams to win) as fast teams.

Pens were, Hawks were really the perfect blend, Kings were not fast at all.

You can win with speed, but we've seen really fast, super talented teams that get owned along the walls fall short in the playoffs. Tampa last season is a prime example of that. Toronto is crazy fast and talented upfront, they just got outed by a much slower CBJ team.
Yeah, I think versatility in style as a team is a huge advantage come playoff time

Devils are a long way from being as good as the Islanders.
Yes, but Boychuk has passed 30. Lee is about to cross 30. Ladd and Brassard are past their primes. Leddy is still a good defenseman. Who else should worry us? Brock Nelson?

I'm in the "f*** it" mindset that pretty much thinks with all the rotten luck, poor management, and other shit we've endured, that the fans do kind of deserve this.

Some people talk about a conspiracy. This damn franchise has one championship in the last 80 years.

You know what? Yeah, gimme the Chicago treatment. Let's be that franchise in the 2020s. Which is what management was aiming for prior to tonight anyway.

As I always say this team had WWII and then the Regional Draft against them for like 25+ years along with some untimely breaks. I always say if they had 1/10 the luck of even the New York Football Giants, they have at least two more Cups between 1950, 1972, 1979, 1981, 1986, 1990, 1992, 1997, 2012, 2014, 2015, and even 2017.

My friend who roots for the Blues was jokingly giving me crap and I'm like "you got lucky off the Rangers 2010 mess and with Paryenko."

REALLY REALLY hoping that Karl Henriksson and the 2nd 2020 pick can help this center position.

I think that's how most teams get built in a lot of ways...you rarely have a team that's just like "ok here's everyone and they're gonna grow up together and all be developed and ready at the same tiem"

it's a mix of new players, older players, vets, etc. The trick is to get the right pieces into the right places at the right times. The Rangers have an intriguing mix but they have a year or two to really fill the major holes sufficiently in order to take full advantage of Zibby and Panarin's (and Kreider's) best years while also allowing for their hopeful young stars like Kakko, Fox, hopefully Laf, to develop enough to contribute on a consistent basis. Then you hope you're a contender. Then you hope as the older guys decline, the younger stars are picking up the slack, and you're filling the holes with more new draft picks etc.

So, big thing in my mind is just how the Rangers fill some of the bigger holes they have and that includes a functional fourth line

See.. This team was going to model the Toronto way of (retooling) rebuilding things according to JG but with this current coaching staff and the way they're doing things models the Edmonton way of doing things.

Hopefully someone gets their head out of their ass sooner rather than later..

Pelech, Pulock, Toews are really good young dmen. Other than that they run on a Trotz system.

Thank you for your inaccurate assessment.
It is your opinion and you are entitled to it as opinion, not representation of fact.

Unless/until Krav demonstrates he can't cut the mustard, he should get every chance. Esp since he demonstrated he can do it at a high level, esp since we are starting to get quality Ws, esp since the line I had him on projects as classic effective:
driver of play - facilitator-finisher
Kakko-Krav-Panarin
clearly fits that

Listen. I understand the bernmeister novelty of all Rangers discussion. You come in, throw in a wild off the wall proposal which has both teams trading half of their rosters with a bunch of picks and conditions.
I also understand you have your love of players who just aren't good (Hannifin, Nieves) and a weird dislike of players who are good (ADA).
All of these things are just part of the bernmeister package, and we love you for it.
I just don't understand why, as a Rangers fan, your trade proposals are always awful for the Rangers.
Every bernmeister trade proposal has the NYR giving away assets.
You suck me in with your intros and then lose me at the end of the proposal. It's almost like reliving the final season of Lost with every proposal.
All I'm asking is for like 1 or 2 trade proposals per week in which the NYR come out on top. GIVE ME A LITTLE BIT OF FAITH BERN!!

and I mean none of this as an insult, you're clearly a really smart guy and a gem on these boards, and I really do like a lot of your takes on things.

Yeah the Rangers need to make their move this decade. Crosby and Ovechkin getting old, the Lightning and Leafs being perennial playoff disappointments. Time for a new eastern conference yearly contender.

I'm going to be interested to see what happens with Carolina's pick. Have a feeling it will be moved like last we moved the pick for Trouba.
If it's moved you gotta figure its moved with some salary attached to it especially if a roster player is coming back. So could be a big trade.

We need a Vancouver esque arch villian to terrorize.

I vote for the Leafs because it just works.
