I’m intrigued to see what this allows Gorton to do on other fronts. They need long term center options and have way too many wingers but that’s not exactly a huge problem. They may go bargain bin hunting to try and build up a younger guy who needs an opportunity as their wingers should be pulling the offensive bulk.

I still think the right move involves trading Strome

With Kreider and Panarin on LW signed for long contracts with NMCs and Mika with 2 years left on his contract the question has to be asked. The Rangers are not gonna win the Stanley Cup with Strome, Howden and Chytil as the top 3 centers. Pay a little attention to how the team looks at the moment before patronising other posters. If they can trade other assets for a center, of course.

We are still in a rebuild. With this pick it went to ludicrous speed rebuild. I said before the resigning of kreider was stupid and ill stand by it.

I agree we arent going to win the cup with them as our BOTTOM 3 centers. But we have great trade chips in krieder, Deangelo, Geo, prospects, and other picks that can get us a 2nd line center.

The only question is what jersey is Laf going to wear. IF we trade the pick im sure it will be for a top center such as Eichel or Barkov.

Ill say it again, WE WON THE LOTTERY! Everyone needs to enjoy the fact that we are getting a franchise level talent and stop bitching for the moment in time.

What would OTT have to offer us bc i want more than the 3rd and 5th pick in this draft. Those are magic beans.

Laf is franchise altering like Panarin.

Give me Eichel if we are to trade this pick. Otherwise, Ott better be giving us 3rd 5th and braanstrom

Hard to say what Ottawa might consider fair. But I would imagine the conversation begins with 3 and 5 or else it doesn’t get much further along than the pleasantries.

Its LAF and nobody else. If we want a center trade the kreider or deangelo for one
You're right. I'm not doing the Kings any favor by trading by far the best player in this draft. If Ottawa blew us away with an offer and took Smith and Staal's contract it would be fun thinking about it but probably not.

Honestly he looked almost as disappointed as Hughes did.

lol I'm sure all these kids have their favorites even out of a limited group like that. This is waht he said:

"Really good news; the Rangers are an unreal team with really good players," the 18-year-old left wing said. "Really nice city, so for sure, it's really good news and I'm really happy."

Chris Kreider has played right wing. His goal in the playoffs came from the right side of the ice. I think he can play RW, his game is speed and going to the net. I don't think the side matters as much for him as say it would Panarin with the play making.

I agree and you make a good point. Keep the known quantity. That is what I would do if I had control of an Eichel/Draisaitl. I have no desire for them to trade this pick.

Agreed. The only team I could see doing it would be Florida since they want to shed dollars, but Barkov is due a big raise at the same time as Zib. So that's a pretty big downside for the Rangers.

Make the pick. See what you can do to address other needs with some of the other young assets and picks we have.

Seriously? You’d think the way people build him up he’s the next OV or Sid or another McD; I expected a consistent 90-100 point player. Or do you mean in terms of on-ice presence and flair?

What I mean is..OV is easily one of the best wingers to ever play this game.

Skys the limit for Lafreniere and he has comparable numbers to SC coming through the ranks but how many times have we seen it translate to the NHL?

They're legit "generational" talents and I don't use that term loosely.

I think Lafreniere is going to be absolutely great but he's got a lot to prove before he gets to SC, OV, MCD level status.

Hoping that he does just as much as you..

He knows the deal. It’s downright absurd they even interviewed him today.
