The salt... the motherf***ing SALT! I love it!

Living in Western PA having to live through the Crosby, Malkin days, enduring the pseudo intellectual hockey babble from the bandwagon Penguins fans makes these past few days very sweet.

Pens getting booted from the playoffs, Rangers winning the lottery... oh how I hope this Captain Laffite will turn out into a good one just to wash away the dirt I had to suffer through all these Pittsburgh infested years....

oh yeah.. f*** Pittsburgh... just for good measure... yaaay team!!

The problem is you have to be able to work salaries into your structure and getting production from entry level salaries is essential in today's NHL.

Eichel can't be ruled out completely, but I don't know if I see the team adding a 24 year old, during his prime contract, at this point in time.

Not on top of the other commitments they have.

Which is part of why i hated giving Krieder is stupid contract. But maybe Lundqvist will do us a favor and retire and let us get 8.5m back

I’m intrigued to see what this allows Gorton to do on other fronts. They need long term center options and have way too many wingers but that’s not exactly a huge problem. They may go bargain bin hunting to try and build up a younger guy who needs an opportunity as their wingers should be pulling the offensive bulk.

I still think the right move involves trading Strome

Kravstov has played C. I wonder now if that’s something that could be revisited.

We are still in a rebuild. With this pick it went to ludicrous speed rebuild. I said before the resigning of kreider was stupid and ill stand by it.

Even though Kreider is also a LW I don't think this automatically makes him trade bait. They kept him because of what he brings to the team as a whole, not just on the ice. Not to mention I kind of doubt Laf will just be thrown out there on a top line day 1. He keeps giving the team more flexibility and options while providing some vet leadership and a role model of sorts to the younger players ( it was reported that many of them look to him as a guide for preparing for the season, etc)

I don't think this makes him expendable at all. The Rangers accelerated their rebuild and signing Kreider was part of that and he's going to be around for a bit as they try to integrate Laf and find ways to shore up the C and LD

Awesome Post!!!

And what is Buffalo adding on top of Eichel? It'd have to be a fair bit to give up three years of cost controlled Laf.

not sure about that. Maybe take money back if anything in Staal or Smith. But if lafreniere becomes as good as eichel is the risk for them. Not to mention he’s a franchise center.

I agree we arent going to win the cup with them as our BOTTOM 3 centers. But we have great trade chips in krieder, Deangelo, Geo, prospects, and other picks that can get us a 2nd line center.

The only question is what jersey is Laf going to wear. IF we trade the pick im sure it will be for a top center such as Eichel or Barkov.

Ill say it again, WE WON THE LOTTERY! Everyone needs to enjoy the fact that we are getting a franchise level talent and stop bitching for the moment in time.

The rebuild is over. It's put up or shut up time. The Rangers window to win a Cup within 3 years or this team is a bust begins.....NOW!

Panarin - Strome - X
Lafreniere - Zibanejad - X
Kreider - Chytil - X
Lemieux - Howden - X

Kakko, Buchnevich, Kravstov, Gauthier and maybe Fast for RW options.

We could use a C upgrade. Otherwise, if one of our LHD prospects manages to step into top 4 role in the next 12 months, we’re really in a blessed position.

Surely it cant cost that much

Well every time I say "trade up from 11 with Georgiev to 7 or 8" I was told that wasn't enough.

So coming up from 20 or 24 to 10, presumably needs more than the pick itself and Georgiev.
