I haven't paid much attention but where with the 2nd, 1st rounder end up and who are the possible selections?

Between his luck and his stone face Gorton should get himself a seat at the WSOP. He should wear sunglasses at the draft.

I think those cannot be completely ruled out. I also think you can't completely rule out Ottawa as a trade partner.

But again, before everyone loses their mind, I want to emphasize that I would say possibility is relatively small --- as in a 20 percent chance or less.

Found money.

Listen, I love the thought of taking Lafreniere. Even if he's just a Kakko/Hughes level player, that's a phenomenal win for us.

But there does seem to be consensus that he's not McDavid/Matthews level.

If Ottawa wants to dangle Stutzle and Holtz in front of me, I'll listen and consider.

It's funny--I was kind of nonchalant about this all day until we won. I wonder if Ottawa would offer the #3 and #5? That's the only thing I can think of that's worth mulling over instead of taking Lafreniere.

Once the Rangers have fleshed out the depth in our lineup I think we'll be Cup contending ready. It took a 22 year wait for me for the Rangers to win in 1994 and it's been 26 years since. In a couple years I'll be in my 50th year following the team. I would sure like to win again.

Only way this pick is traded is NOT for magic beans.

Eichel thats it

For some reason, I had a feeling we would win it. As soon as I saw the ball, I jumped in the air and yelled. Then I tried to post on the board, but you know....as usual for I don't know how many years. Board looks somewhat stable now.

20% chance is pretty big with this stupid team. If they trade this pick, holy shit

Nope...not a chance. There's Laf and then there's everyone else.

Yes, if we wanted to win we should have started an injured Igor who didnt do any better than Hank when healthy.

There are no tricks to this. We sucked. We deserve this pick.

I mean, Detroit deserved the pick but I'll take it anyways.

Dont you dare even speak those words.

Even after getting the #1 pick for a franchise altering talent in Laf, people are still bummed?

Unbelievable

With Kreider and Panarin on LW signed for long contracts with NMCs and Mika with 2 years left on his contract the question has to be asked. The Rangers are not gonna win the Stanley Cup with Strome, Howden and Chytil as the top 3 centers. Pay a little attention to how the team looks at the moment before patronising other posters. If they can trade other assets for a center, of course.

Look, I know it's not what you want to hear, but it's not an impossibility.

Weren't ya'll talking about this for weeks before now? Seems like it depends on what the teams in the 2-3 spot might offer but also seems like you don't want to get too clever thinking about making a deal for depth blah blah

Ideally..I'm hoping Chytil rounds out as a solid #2C but time will tell.
In the mean time, I'd settle for an effective #4C at this point.
How long does it take?

I think the Rangers are trying to move quick on building this (which is why they probably wouldn't be waiting around to see if they can get Chytil to develop more into that 2C spot). I'd hope they don't waste money lockign down Strome as I don't think he's the answer, but I think they're definitely interested in looking at using assets to acquire a 2C from someplace

first let me say I was just acting a fool a day ago saying I’d like Byfield. Now that it’s real like actually real something I could never imagine you absolutely take lafreniere. Doesn’t even matter who you have on your current roster. This is a franchise altering 15 year player. You build around this guy not the other way around.

weve already got a number one center that’s the toughest guy to get and he’ll be that guy for 5 years. Having to find a number 2 C? We’ll find one if Chytil isn’t already it. You could put a lot of guys between Panarin and Kakko or Lafreniere and they’ll put up 70 plus pts minimum.

it’s Lafreniere. And you don’t hesitate. This has never happened to us before. This kid runs circles around Kakko or Hughes. This is no friggen joke.

I have this feeling now that people are kinda gonna forget about Kakko as he's "old news" and didn't have a blockbuster rookie season.

Could be a sleeper to have a big season next year (if there is a season). Even though he didn't get on the board I think a lot of the stuff he was doing against Carolina was good stuff and would start panning out for him over the course of a season. Could see him putting up 50 points next year before rounding into form as 70+ point player after that
