This X 1,000. I missed the first period, but from what I saw of the game, the Devils looked like they were playing a 4 point game against a hated division rival and the Rangers looked like they were playing Arizona.
Hey - I live in Arizona!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I don't know if he's being misused by the coaches, but I have not recently been impressed with Buchnevich. Very weak on the puck, lazy on defense - I have a suspicion he doesn't like the coach. Comments.

Ugh...hate it when ppl nitpick shootout stuff.

We lost because we noshowed for 75 percent of this game. It's literally the same story with this team night in and night out...they just didn't miracle themselves into a win....still picked up a point they didnt deserve.

Henrik had basically been single handedly carrying this team for 2 months now.

Shattenkirk was brought in to help the PP and take pressure off McDonagh in terms of PP ice time and creating chances. I don't think there was one person who looked at him as a franchise, No. 1 type. Even under Hitchcock he was exposed in his own end. On offense, he's an enabler and a good one.

Sucks defensively but we knew that already. He's Top-15 in scoring among defensemen. He's absolutely lived up to the billing.

Right.

He's living up to exactly what I thought he was supposed to be.

I don't understand the revisionism on either side of the argument.

Looking for goats I would point out Shattenkirk for No. 1 and Kreider for No. 2. I've already mentioned Shattenkirk's colossal f*** up on the shorthanded goal. We might as well mention that Kreider's elbowing penalty that led to Boyle's power play was completely deserved and completely unnecessary.

What exactly is that skill? Dangle the puck into the defenders skate? Not being able to complete the simplest of passes? He doesn't even know how to take a slapshot let alone a wrister. All he is good for is shuffle the puck over the goal line in tight spaces which is good i guess.

He can play a good north-south game if he keeps his game simple. He goes to the dirty area and scores some greasy goals. He has a pretty good shot too. He's a 4th line player who is going to score 15-20 goals and his line has been good.

OK. I'll play this game.

What would your SO lineup have been?

Simple! I dont care about percentages. I would pick players with the hot hand and if the situation would be like tonight were everyone except my goalie played like dogshit I would still pick my skilled shooters. That means Nash, Hayes, Kreider, Miller would all go before Vesey.

Are we still wrong about Shattenkirk's defense because of some numbers?

Anyway, this game was really entertaining. Hank was ridiculous. Not even mad.

Yeah Shatty could have a press conference and say "look...my bread and butter is being a 4th forward and a PP specialist not for my Lidstrom level defensive prowess. I am what I am"

I4m4lW4y$Right22: Ha! f*** this guy. He doesn't know shit!"

Like you said, too weak on the puck, skating isn't good enough for him to be so easy to knock off the puck.

Vesey scored a goal in the game. Is that hot enough for you? And he's better in the shootout than any of the players you mentioned.

Small sample size? The shootout itself is the smallest of sample sizes. Vesey since joining the team has had more SO attempts than any of the players you mentioned.

Besides, Vesey's miss was during a tie in shootout. By your rationale, Hayes missing on a partial breakaway in OT also cost them the game.

He's gonna score 15-20 goals again this season. Should we give up on him? i remember many a years when Rangers bottom six guys didn't even sniff 10 goals and these were overpaid vets.

In 35 games this year the rangers have given up 12 goals in the first five minutes of games.

19 goals within the first 10 minutes of first 35 games.

40 goals against in first periods this year in 35 games.

Is the coaches job not supposed to get your team ready to play?? How does this shit NOT fall on him???

Never said that. He belongs on the 4th line and that is where he should stay.

i wouldnt call this a transition roater. We have just as good a team as we had last year and AV stunted us from getting to the ECF. We should of atleast been in the ECF last year. He shouldnt coach a transition team or any other team. A proven coach that falls short.

Once again, I never said it was Vesey's fault we lost. My beef is with the coach and his decision to pick Vesey over a plethora of other more skilled players.

Let me put it this way, I would have criticized AV for picking Vesey even if he would have won us the game. Now that we ended up losing my frustration with his coaching decision got magnified.

It definitely falls on the coach. It happens way too often and AV deserves a lot of the blame. It's his job to motivate the players and I think he does a very poor job at that.

Those "more skilled" players are less skilled than Vesey in shootouts.

Plus, teams practice shootouts. How do you know Vesey isn't one of the best shooters in practice, in afdition to being one of the best in real games?

It's not like he put Carey or Holden to shoot 3rd. He picked one of his best.

Something tells me you're blaming Vigneault no matter who missed that 3rd chance.
