Sounds like I missed a good one

Don’t know how you give up 40+ shots to the Devils, but I’m happy with them sneaking away with a point.

When the coach is actively sabotaging his own team the it is on him. Why else would he chose Vesey to win the game? When the **** have Vesey ever shown that he has a good shot? Why would he pick Shattenkirk? Dude was atrocious all game! He could have chosen any of Nash, Grabner, Hayes, Miller, Kreider! Even Nick ****ing Holden would have been a better choice.

So yes, this loss is very much on the dumbass behind the bench.

I would use Shattenkirk over all of them in a shootout. Hayes would be the only other one in your group I would consider.

I expected more from him offensively at 5v5, not necessarily points, but I expected him to be more involved in the offensive zone. He's neutered in the offensive zone, which is where he excels, because the Rangers don't use the points, never sustain offensive zone pressure. I never expected a #1 franchise d, but I thought he would be better in transition and help us generate more shots. Hasn't really happened.

You said it. Vigneault's short-shift system and obsession with dumping in will always keep the Rangers possession and shot numbers low.

Changes come from the bench. If AV orders shifts of 1:00 or less and Shattenkirk has the puck at 0:45, he's not going to try a rush past center. To me, it's hockey's version of the pitch count -- AV's conditioned players (mentally and/or physically) to look for a change with or without the puck.

Can you imagine Brian Leetch on a shift leash? He would have never made it to the Hall of Fame.

To be fair, he is 2 for 4 in his career, which of course is a small sample size, but still better than most others on the team

Vesey has no shot as evidence by all the great chances he squanders game in and game out. His goals are not a product of his shot rather than him being in the right place at the right time and shuffle the puck over the goal line.

Are you ****ing serious? This team gives up 40+ shots every other game. They just got destroyed by a bad possession team. It's frankly embarrassing following this team this season. No pride, no idea how to ****ing play hockey. I'm ****ing embarrassed by them half the time.

I hate AV and I hate his system. I've got a bottle of Veuve I'm saving for the day that man is gone.

But I'm not going to blame him for a shootout loss.

Yeah, but Kovalev still would've ignored it and been out there the full two minutes.

They are a bottom feeder with a crazy shooting percentage and a generaational goaltender.

It has never worked in the playoffs and never will. This has been proven time and time again by the Rangers and many teams besides the Rangers.

There shooting % is not as high as it's been in other years but this team puts more emphasis on number of high quality scoring chances than number of shots and always will under AV. They score a lot of goals and are again top 5 in scoring. Hank has been great this year but he was mediocre last year and they still managed 102 points. They are a good team that is getting points while not playing particularly well lately. Tonight they sucked ass.

Vesey already has a shootout winner this season. He was 2-for-4 in his career entering tonight.

I know fans only see one team on the ice, but Jersey is good.

I’d definitely like the rangers to dump-n-chase less. Is that completely a coaching choice? Can anyone speak on this? It seems to me the better move would sometimes be to retreat with the puck, regroup, and attack again rather than just dumping-in and line changing. Or dumping-in and chasing. Am I off my rocker with this thinking? I’m not a coach or an organized hockey player.
I appreciate that there are times when they have to dump-in. But does it have to be so often?

Amazed at the hatred for Hayes from some here.

I wouldn't trade him even-up for Stepan, even if they had the same salary.

Hank kept them in it. Lunkhead Kreider gave it away, at the end.

The Vesey hatred is gettng old also, considering that his line has been our best as of late.

Couldn't have said it better. Hayes would have been gone long ago if it was for some Ranger fans.
He is developing nicely last 25 games plus.
Vesey hatred doesn't surprise me one bit and he deserves some criticism but not like this. when he scores 15-20 consistently in this league he will still be the whipping boy.

Just speaking on tonights game it seemed like the devils were being super aggressive at their own blue line and neutral zone so dumping the puck deep would have been best option. Get in deep work on their defense which isn't great.

I propose for the next game, Shattenkirk sits and Kampfer goes back in.

I’m as critical of AV as anyone but if you watched that game and your biggest takeaway was “I wouldn’t have picked Vesey for the SO” - I’m not sure what to say.

They got hammered and deserved that loss, and that’s saying something in a season full of hammering.
