Horrible performance and a wasted recovery. Lundqvist not on his game tonight - hopefully he'll come back with a vengeance on Thursday. I was really hoping when we tied it that the team would bail him out but it wasn't to be.

We are still in the driver's seat. Believe!

Technically the team did bail out lundqvist.

Talbot receives the loss because it got tied up, not lundqvist.

I almost wonder if pulling Hank was the right move after 4-1 since we did come back, but you wonder if that would have happened had Hank stayed in the game. Hockey is funny like that.

I don't feel like it would make a difference. Some days it just isn't there and you have to give some credit to the opposition. They were desperate, came hard, and we got outplayed. It happens. The good news is, this team has a knack of putting things behind and re-groups really well. Personally, I have a real strong feeling we close this out at home next game.

I would say hank would let in more goals.

He didn't play good for the first half of the game, and his post game comments saying things like he welcomed the mental break leads me to believe he wasn't up for playing more.

If he felt like he could've pulled it together and finished it up without letting up more goals, I would've expected a comment more like "I respect the coach's decision"

Hank responded with a great game 7 vs Philly after being pulled in game 6. I expect the same performance from him, he probably wants this more than all of us combined, I really can't wait for game 6.

Hockey is hockey and some crap just happen (misstakes by goalies and what not).

One thing though, we are way to dependent in the big picture to score the first goal. The diffriential between W/L between us scoring first or not is just way too BIG. Partly because we are tremendously good when scoring first, but also because we don't react well enough on being scored on first. I missed the first 8 minutes or something tonight, when I started watching THE GAME WAS WIDE OPEN. We were exchanging chances with MTL, it felt like we could easily come back and blow them away, or that the opposite could happen. That was NOT our game plan going into last nights game, I can promise you that. And I mean, if we don't give up that early first goal, I would have had an extremely hard time seing that happen. The root to how this game played out was that goal, and that shouldn't be the case.

Yeah, and like so often I do think that Hank get a bit too much credit when we play perfect D and a bit too much blame when we don't.

We lost focus tonight, Hank did it too. There is a link between those two.

well that was nuts.

When they tied it up it was awesome... but i guess playing the worst D of the entire playoff run bit them in the ass. Go figure.

On the plus side, to borrow from ther analysts and experts after the habs lost 7-2, if you're going to lose, lose crazy. it's a wake up call.

rangers win game 6.

The Rangers never make it easy. This game can't be a "the sky is falling" moment. I have total confidence this was a wake up call and game 6 will be way better.

Hank could not stop a beach ball if it were shot at him last night. It's ok he had a bad game. He's got to be way better in game 6. The Rangers need to find a way to defend better on the high slot off the rush. Montreal has done a great job of getting quality chances off the rush and unless the Rangers adjust and limit Montreals off the rush chances it could get ugly. Tokaraki looked equally horrible but for long stretches of this game the Rangers never tested him.

I'm sure game 6 will be different.

They had a bad night. I am very disappointed but I don't feel like it's the end of the world either. The Rangers have shown quite a bit of resolve when it comes to bouncing back after a bad game. Lundqvist will be better, they will all be better.

The team is playing worse and worse as the series goes along. Allowing more and more point shots, traffic in front and high quality scoring chances. AV needs to adjust here and get his team defense back quickly or they will screw this up.

What I'm curious to see, with all this talk about Moore's hit, is the Rene Bourque penalty. Bourque got a 5 minute major for crosschecking and a game misconduct at the 20 minute mark of the third. It will be interesting to see if the league looks at that.

Poor Cam, he got thrown into a bad situation wasn't in very good form, the team comes back and he let's in a terrible goal that sucked all of our momentum away and made it worse, and get's the loss too boot.

With a player like Subban patrolling the point that shoots first and passes later you had to expect that there would be more shots from the point. They can't all be blocked Lundqvist has to stop some of them.

A wrister from the slot that snipes the top corner under the cross bar is not a terrible goal. The timing of the goal was terrible but the goal was not terrible. Lots of shots should have been stopped last night on both ends that ended up in the net. Hard to say Cam should have stopped that one. It was not impossible to stop though.

As they say, the players need to have short memories. Hopefully they have forgotten this mess and are refocused on what they need to do in order to win on Thursday. They have 2 more swings at the plate available. Hit one of them out of the park and move on. Jeez I hate baseball references.

Is it gonna be a suspention on Moore? That was a pretty brainless tackle. And if he's gonna be in that business, pls not Weise.

Guy, the offense was just as responsible for it being 4-1 as everyone else. 2 PPs to start the 2nd, 0 shots in the second, 3 goals by the Canadiens.

How the **** does one walk away thinking the offense is immune from blame?

I agree. We had all sorts of opportunities. We should have scored at least 7 or 8 goals, but we decided to pass the puck instead of shooting it. So frustrating.

I never thought about Montreal fans much until this series. I now see why people hate them. They spammed the NYR Facebook and instagram with nasty Crap.

Rangers, please destroy these a holes on Thursday.

They're really awful. They follow suit and pick up on the bush league antics their team is putting out there. That's what it is, and it's unfortunate.

We've played the Flyers, Pens, and now Canadiens in the playoffs this year. I have infinite times the animosity towards the Canadiens and their fans than I did the Flyers and Pens, go figure.

Woke up today after a rough night of sleep... Nervous for the first time this series. If we drop game 6 tomorrow night, game 7 is going to be a complete coin flip, if not a 60/40, 65/35 in favor of the Canadiens. This team needs to take care of business on their home ice, and make it easy on themselves for once.

Prust will return. Moore will be out. DD will probably be out. No Carcillo. Miller is hurt. Fast will have to step in. We'll need another big game from the Stepan line, and more out of our top-4 D who were not great last night (to keep it nice), the Brassard and Richie lines. And of course, Lundqvist.

The Habs scored alot of lucky goals. What was it, 5 goals that went post or bar in? Plekanec with a volley that could just as well have ended up in the upper bowl. Bourque had his lottery ticket game where each of his goal could just as easily have been post out. That ridiculous effectiveness from their forwards was far from skill only.

Aren't majors taken after the end of a game automatic 1 game suspensions? I remember there at least used to be a rule like that. Could be wrong though.

I love how on the main boards there are like 4 suspend Ranger players threads but the one thread on Bourque is locked.

Priceless.

There was actually a thread on Bourque?

To be fair, I thought it was ridiculous that a cross check to the shoulder at the buzzer got 5 and a game. Like why bother?
