Hey, Habs fan here. Just wondering if Diaz steps in, when is last time he played? He was not bad in montreal and actually played in our top 4 but I guess he was a little too soft. Either way, against a team like montreal he shouldn't have too much of a problem, that's why I'm wondering if he's even got game timing.

He last played in game 4 of the second round.

Diaz played 2 games in the Pitt series, coming in cold and seeing 16 & 19 mins of ice. I thought he looked pretty good and have been wanting to at least dress him for the powerplay for a while now. excited to see what he'll do with this opportunity cause Moore is def getting at least a game or two.

Klein has been pretty awesome, he just needs to break through with all these chances hes getting. I think a suspension is a blessing in disguise for us because I feel like Diaz could be a difference maker, especially playing against his old squad.

YOu know what, you are right. If Moore is suspended and Diaz is put in, that's just the rally cry that the team might need. Problem? Overcome! Issue? Put it to bed!

These guys are mentally strong. I have faith, for once.

Actually, when they scored that 4th goal for the comeback, I thought this game was a surefire win. our goaltending **** the bed tonight. ALL of our goaltending. There was no way we were winning that game with that ****show of goaltending we have tonight

Was the Moore hit late? I only saw the replay once and I'm not arguing it wasn't dirty because it was a clear head-shot but from what I saw if it were clean the timing would have been alright. Looked to me like he was admiring his pass for a split second and got it right to the head, he's lucky he didn't hit his head on the ice either.

I have to say I am having a bit of trouble understanding the logic.
The issue is not the lateness.
Stop the 'admiring the pass' BS. That's what the people we call idiots were saying about Stepan.

if you look at it at the available angles, its the following:

Moore is on the ground, does not leave his feet, and keeps his elbow tucked, while he comes in slightly from behind, launching Weisse into the air from his shoulder. Weisse's body goes flying, and his head follows his body after being thrown. According to CBC, the hit was laid .5 seconds after the puck was released from Weisse's stick.

FOr comparision, Prusts was .93 seconds after the puck was released

Locker room wall stuff. These Canadien players are real *******s.

Yep, it is locker room stuff. We can laugh at it, we can call it out as complete dog crap.
The best way to put an end to it is to put and end to this series.

All this attention on what Canadiens players or fans are saying. I am simply ignoring all that now, it is a real waste of time tuning into it.

I disagree. It was a nasty hit and this is not what any Rangers player should be doing.
Does not matter if it was .5 seconds after the puck left his stick, or .00003 seconds after the puck left his stick.

Horrible performance and a wasted recovery. Lundqvist not on his game tonight - hopefully he'll come back with a vengeance on Thursday. I was really hoping when we tied it that the team would bail him out but it wasn't to be.

We are still in the driver's seat. Believe!

If only he played defense. Some atrocious plays tonight that basically negate all positives.

He took a bad penalty to start, but the whole team played a completely unstructured game. I can't single him out for poor defensive effort. I know people want to blame him for the third Bourque goal, but Kreider was just coming off the bench as that play was developing. It would've been very, very tough for him to swoop in to break it up in time.

Don't think the Moore hit is that late, but the main problem is the principal contact was the head it seems and he also extended his elbow. Will probably get suspended for 2 games.

It was definitely late. How late is too late as far as league discipline goes? I forgot the criteria for suspension, but it appeared to be slightly sooner from the time the puck left Weise's stick than Stepan's So I could see a 1 gamer, possibly 2, if nothing else than to cool the temperature of the series which, not surprisingly, turned very chippy tonight. As a sidenote, I certainly don't sanction or condone what Moore did, but if it had to happen to anyone, better it be Weise who had been running around head-hunting all night. His legs definitely seemed wobbly after the play.

I am equally concerned about Dorsett's late head butt in a goalmouth scramble. It wasn't egregious, but he appeared to lead with his head against the defenseman.

I think some folks should step back and look at that hit objectively. Don't get hung up on seconds since the puck left his stick. CBC had a very good camera angle on it. It was a headshot. It simply was.
What is the preoccupation with time elapsed since the puck left Wiese's stick?

In fairness to Talbot, when was the last game he actually played?

Because some folks aren't sure head was principal point of contact. The only person I know who really took a deep look at it is a Pens fan and they thought PPC was not the head. IF that's the case, then the fact that it wasn't late by league standards plays a fairly big role. The league will have a much cleaner feed of it than any of us, so we'll see what they have to say.

You make a good point. I saw it the way I describe it. One thing that I have noticed over the last few seasons where so much more attention and analysis is done on this kind of hit is that it is probably never that the shoulder or the chest is not impacted.

And I will just state what I think. It is pretty tough to not make impact with the torso while a player hits the head. The angle provided to me, on a couple of replays, showed a hit really no different from Prust's hit on Stepan.
Of course, I am 100% against penalty by severity, i.e. I don't think that the result should influence the penalty. I think that is bass-ackwards and a clear sign of the NHL's hypocritical actions.

I haven't really looked at it myself post-game, because right now I don't want to look at anything about the game. But I got feedback from my painfully biased and annoying friend from Pittsburgh, who despite being my oldest and closest friend, I had to block on my cell phone and facebook during the series against the Pens. She's a long time Pens fan and HATES the Rangers. If she's telling me she watched the hit frame by frame and saw, in her view, chest as principal point of contact, I have to at least give it consideration.

can't possibly defend the moore hit. incredibly dumb on his part. just funny that no penalty was called when stepan got his jaw broken. refs sure didn't miss this one though!
