There's nothing wrong with saying he needs to be better.

He sure as hell wasn't the reason we lost today, but he really didn't make any spectacular saves today. Having that first one would've changed the complexion of the game going into the locker room still up 2-0.

He made plenty of solid saves, and plenty of routine ones too.

When you're goaltender stops 40 of 43 shots, he's doing his job to keep you in the game. He kept them in the game.

This isn't a game where Quick outplayed Lundqvist or Lundqvist outplayed Quick. I think they both played well. (And for what it's worth, Quick was no better than Tokarski, in fact, Tokarski was much better than him in the last game we played Montreal).

It was a game the Rangers lost because of a few key mistakes, and because the Kings showed they're a better team.

Lundqvist COULD be better. But if you're expecting him to stop 42 or 43, or 43 of 43, no matter the circumstances or situation, you're setting yourself up for failure. Those are unreasonable expectations.

McD needed to come over and steal it from Girardi. His jedi mind powers should have told him G was going to have a pee-wee esque turnover on that play.

And you are a hardcore Girardi hater. Whenever he plays well, you are quiet about his play. Whenever something unlucky happens like slipping, you twist around what really happened.



Easier said than done. Williams really wasn't that far from him. He had time to make a play, but not to get up and then make a pass. I agree that throwing the puck behind the net would have been the best thing to do in that situation, but he obviously thought he could get the puck out of the zone. He couldn't.

Please don't mistake an unlucky goal for a moronic mistake like Stepan made in the first period where he coughed the puck up in his own zone without any bad luck. Thats a **** up.

I praise Girardi plenty, when he does something he should be praised about. Unfortunately, nothing of that sort happened tonight.

Twist it around? He fell, and instead of making the safe play of throwing the puck behind the net, he made the stupid play of trying to pass it up the middle. You're on your knees. You don't have much balance. You don't have much strength to get a decent pass off. And yet somehow, if you're Dan Girardi, you try to thread the needle with a pass up the middle, because hey, miracles happen. He needs to make the easy/safe play there, and throw it behind the net. That's all he had to do. And even of the Kings get to it first, by then him and McD would be able to get back into the play. Instead of this, he gives the Kings a 3 on 0 by passing them the puck.

As the ice got worse it impacted us more as we were the faster team. The puck was hopping ESP. In ot. That was effecting the break out and clearing passes. Look at krieder it took him 3 swipes with the stick just to gain control of the puck in the ot. That gave the kings time to get back into the the defensive zone neutralizing out speed.

Who cares if he fell down? He threw the puck directly to Williams.

When he slips and has no time to get up, what could he do that would not result in a scoring chance for the Kings? The only two things that he could have done were throw the puck behind the net or try to clear the puck from the zone from where he was. Throwing the puck around the net would not have guaranteed that the Rangers would retain the puck. Girardi was the only Ranger in the defensive zone, and there were a few Kings in the zone. They could have gotten to the puck first and had an easy finish in front of the net, especially since McDonagh was already up the ice. He surveyed his options quickly and saw that he was the only Ranger back, and probably thought that the Kings would get to the puck with numbers even if he threw it behind the net. He tried to clear it and it didn't work. Slipping is part of hockey.

You misunderstand my point when talking about the ice. The ice is a reason things happened the way they did on that particular play. Both teams deal with it, Kings got a good bounce. It's not so much absolving the player of blame as it is an acknowledgment of how hockey goes sometimes

Gotcha. You are correct. On that play though, G could have tapped the puck back to Hank to swallow it. he had to read the pressure coming, realized his predicament, and opted for the safe play. Then again, with our luck tonight G would have probably roofed it over Hank's glove into our own net. lol

But like you say, things happen and that's sports.

The ice was AWFUL ... still is on Girardi not to cough up the puck, but part of the blame should go to how terrible that ice was. That could've happened to anyone. Not to mention, McD was not covering the weak side against a 3 man forecheck. Again, it is STILL on Girardi, but you guys need to seriously consider what else was going on...

Some positives:

-Lundqvist is playing really well
-Poo-Brass-Zucc line is playing well
-Penalty Kill is great
-McDonaugh has been stellar
-Hagelin showing his speed

We need to forecheck alot more here to give ourselves more shots

Lundqvist has to be better (he was good, not great tonight).

What do you want to him to do? It's an absolute miracle they made it to OT. I don't know what other people are encouraged about in terms of winning this series. Girardi and Staal can't make a breakout pass to save their lives. Richards is back to being a non-factor at best. And Nash wouldn't drive straight to the net if you put a gun to his head. The fact that they were apparently wasting their time shouting at the Kings bench that they can play physical too is not encouraging. They should not be wasting their time on that ****.

It's an unlucky break that I won't be over until Saturday at 7, but whatever, Henrik was phenomenal and we need to play for 60 minutes. The Kings are a good team what can you do these things happen.

The Rangers were trying to be very agressive and put this away early. Sure, McDonagh did not play textbook defense, but it was a calculated risk that backfired.

Gotta move on from this.

You got to OT after letting the Kings get 20 shots on goal: you simply don't make the play Girardi did.

It would be different if we were hemmed in our zone. We weren't. G slipped and tried to make a ****ing pass past the Kings sitting on the blueline. He had all the time in the world to do ANYTHING ELSE and he makes the worst possible decision.

It reminded me of the play Staal made when we lost the series to I think the caps like 3-4 years ago when he tried to clear it out and gave it right to the guy on the point on the farside who won it.

Girardi literally passed the puck to the other team. ANYTHING would have been better. He slipped, he should've ****ing laid on the puck rather than pass it into the Kings at the blueline.

Im sick of his flat out dumb@ss mistakes in big games. He's a veteran defenseman for crying out loud. I dont care how solid he plays during the season. He picks the most important games to be a goon. He makes me sorry we signed him this long

On the last goal I do believe some blame needs to be put on McDonagh he was out of position.. cant do like that in OT when your D parther is under pressure but obviously it is Girardis goal at most. Given the situation he did the worst possible thing. Never throw a blind pass up like that.. recipe for disaster. Girardi wasnt very good this game and needs to be better. He made a few boneheaded plays in the third period as well.

Kings dominated the play for sure but that is to be expected, but it was a close game, I believe this series is winnable. I dont understand all the talks on the mainboard..
