The Kings were just outhustling the Rangers in the 3rd, not because they're not some dominant machine.

The Kings were sloppy tonight. They won, but by no means we're they intimidating.

I agree here. The Kings were NOT impressive. Both teams were evenly matched- I couldn't believe they got 20 shots on goal in the 3rd because they really weren't pushing.

But like I said in my other post, now the pressure is ALL on the Rangers. Can't let the Kings go up 2-0.

That really stung. We had a chance to put the game away with a 3-1 lead when we had that PP in the first. Too much passing and not enough shooting was the story of the game for the boys. Yeah the ice kinda sucked in OT, but athletes adjust. We just need the W this weekend. We don't want to get in a 2-0 hole against the Kings...

It's not the ice itself.

It's the fact that the team wasn't prepared for it, which I blame them for.

LA didn't do any stupid little passes. They carried the puck and went to the net, because on this ice, they'll get the crazy bounces sending them all the way through sometimes.

Dude, they were outshot 20-3 in the third period.

It wasn't the worst game of the year, but outside of a few positives, this was an awful loss.

Didn't show up in the third. Disgusting turnovers by Girardi and Stepan and we blew a 2-0 lead. A defense first team, should not be blowing a 2-0 lead in the SCF. It is completely unacceptable.

Anyone defending Girardi's play at the end is beyond me. That was a complete embarrassment. Again, I'm a fan of his and think he is very good, but that is literally a pee-wee level play right there that he ****ed up to oblivion.

First goal was purely on Staal. Last goal was purely on Girardi.

Bad ice, especially in OT, but both teams had to play on it. That's a really tough one with how hard we opened. We just stopped skating in the third. Need to win Saturday.

No. He. Isn't.

He went up the ice to accept a pass. All Girardi had to do was clear the zone, with no King within 20 feet of him.

He literally did EXACTLY what you don't do. Tried to thread the needle and passed it directly to Pearson (I think) who wasn't even close.

Not even hockey 101, it's sports 101: DON'T PASS TO THE OTHER TEAM. Ugh.

It's ****ing June, the ice has been an issue everywhere for a month.

40 saves.

Has to be better....

Ok.

#hflogic.

Yes. Has to be better. He was fine. 40 shots a lot of which were nothing shots. How many "wow" saves did he make tonight? None really. Could he have saved all 3 of the goals? Yes, they wouldn't have been easy saves but they could have been saved. I wouldn't expect him to save all 3 (particularly the 3rd) but they could have been. He's supposed to be the best goalie in the world he has to play like it and not just make the routine saves.

Oh, I'm not saying Dan G was completely blameless. But its McD who abandons his man. McD is the main culprit.

Look, at the end of the day, I'm not made at either of those guys. Staal was the only D man that deserves a tongue lashing. His piss poor play directly meant that McD and Dan G had to pick up the slack.

The real culprits to this game was the play of our forwards. Specifically our centers Step/Richards. Nash could also get a lecture about shooting instead of over handling the puck.

I'm definitely in your court, and agree. I just hoped that we would get away with the missed opportunities, but alas.

Edit: and just plain stop trying to force a pass across I don't know how many Kings players and Kings sticks. It was a low-precentage play and lead to turnovers. In the first period with the Rangers attacking the way they did moving the puck, it was the Kings who were committing the trunovers.

Yes. I'll listen to you. Where's that other hardcore Girardi fan coming to defend him boy? Name might start with an "s," not sure.

And you are a hardcore Girardi hater. Whenever he plays well, you are quiet about his play. Whenever something unlucky happens like slipping, you twist around what really happened.

Fine. He slipped. He can still throw the puck behind the net instead of throwing it right up the middle and onto Williams' stick. He had time. He wasn't even being pressured.

Easier said than done. Williams really wasn't that far from him. He had time to make a play, but not to get up and then make a pass. I agree that throwing the puck behind the net would have been the best thing to do in that situation, but he obviously thought he could get the puck out of the zone. He couldn't.

Please don't mistake an unlucky goal for a moronic mistake like Stepan made in the first period where he coughed the puck up in his own zone without any bad luck. Thats a **** up.

Honestly, I agree that Hank wasn't ridiculously good tonight. Very good performance, but I thought we, once again, did a good job on rebounds in front. Wouldn't place the blame on him in any way, though. He did his part. 2 goals against in regulation should be enough.

As I said in the other thread, Dan G was not the main problem on the last goal. It was McD.

This.

I disagree that McD was the "main problem" on that goal. But he was absolutely a part of the problem. People are focusing on G because he was the one who was center stage on the turnover. But McDonagh's job in that situation - especially once the puck rolled over G's stick - is to support his defensive partner. Instead he pre-emptively guns it up the ice and leaves Girardi alone in the defensive zone with a rolling puck and three LA Kings. Girardi certainly ****ed up, and should have just eaten the puck and delayed until his team could come back to support him. But McD did not play that well at all either. Just bad all around. Kids on these boards need to stop the scapegoating. Thanks.

1st and 2nd period were fine. 3rd and OT were pretty much a gong show. Play on Saturday like they did in the 1st and 2nd and NYR has a chance at a split. Get it done. Time to step it up.

Are you ******** me?

Girardi literally passed the puck to the other team. ANYTHING would have been better. He slipped, he should've ****ing laid on the puck rather than pass it into the Kings at the blueline.

Absolutely unacceptable.

SOG were 43-27 #LAKings, including 20-3 in 3rd period, but #Rangers had 21 missed shots. Attempts were 64-63 Kings. It's not what it appears

This is a winnable series.

our 3rd period was forgettable. too much sloppiness and too many chances passed up to um...well...pass. shoot first against quick. make him make the first save then go hard to net.

i think quick can be acrobatic and athletic but he can also we beaten with screens and deflections which both require some SHOTS on net !!!!!!

the kings are a deep, well coached, big team that can dominate games. we did pretty well on the road in a hostile building. i think we got their attention.

the pp cost us again bigtime. diaz looked over matched 5on5 and i expect moore will help reform 3 solid pairs. no coincidence that kleiner looked out of sorts without moore with him.

i like our d better i like hank better. i think they have the better forwards top to bottom.

should be a fun game 2.

Anyone who thinks the ice wasn't an issue needs to rewatch that OT. Both teams. Over and over.

Nah. Our terrible play with the puck for the majority of the game was the issue. The ice was bad for both teams, and is just an excuse.

I'm not sure he tried to thread the needle. He didn't get the pass off cleanly. Who knows where he was trying to put it.

Who cares if he fell down? He threw the puck directly to Williams.

And if he desperately threw it behind the net, Williams would have gotten to it first and passed it out to the slot where there would have been two Kings completely wide open.

The Kings turned the puck over and the Rangers SHOULD have had a 4 on 2 had Girardi not tripped. Once he tripped and the Rangers were caught up ice, Girardi had three options, try a pass up the middle (which was option #1 and would have sprung the break), go behind the net (which would have led to a 3 on none anyway), or eat the puck (which he probably should have done.)

No, you don't move up on the rush when no one is covering your position. For exactly the reason to what transpired.

Two horrendous turnovers caused this. Ice or not since both teams got and gave bounces.

Horrendous turnovers. Laughably bad.

U don't win games let alone Stanley Cup Final games, with that crap.

And the PP! Don't get me started. Awful. Sad. Disturbing.
