Sorry, how are we getting the 1st overall pick? The Ducks and Predators were both in the bottom-10 this time last year.

Ah I wish I still had that Suck Bad For Ekblad avatar I made during October 2014.

I dont really blame AV. Yes he makes alot of stupid decisions but we traded a top 30 center and lost one of the best 4th line centers in the NHL and replaced them with Desharnais and Carey... Its not like we had amazing center depth prior to this either. We went from a decent center group to an awful one.

I dont understand how people actually expect this group to contend? Its almost unfair to them because of how bad we are at center and the lack of an elite offensive player.
People also complain alot about Nash and he should have scored tonight but Kreider has 0 goals so far.... He has been decent but it doesnt really matter when he doesnt score. He isnt driving the net and using his speed on the outside like he did at the start of last season.

Look at our lineup the last 5 years, the fact that we actually have done so well is incredible without a better #1C than Stepan, no elite forward and only an average #1D in Mcdonagh. We have had solid depth at times but still.
AV has tons of flaws and he annoys the hell out of me but i dont think we would have done better with another coach...

It might be time to let him go but its 90% on the players and its a transition year. Gorton made that very clear when he traded Stepan.

Great post Wes. The Rangers miss Stepan so bad it's not funny. He had 2 goals and an assist tonight and now has 7 points in 7 games I think. It's not AV"s fault. Gorton is the one you messed it all up. Kreider misses Stepan bad!

AV decides the system.
AV decides the lineup.
AV decides the ice time.

The players go out on the ice and try to implement what AV tells them to do.

Of course it's AV's fault. He's a decent coach when given a dominant roster that can play his f***ed up system. He's a terrible coach when he has to actually do stuff. Without peak Luongo/Lundqvist, this guy would be a joke.

Can one of you guys make an outsider understand why the heck Buch is stuck on the 4th line?

He's one of the few kids I'm intrigued by outside of my team. Wasn't he suppose to be given top mins this year? I noticed he started on the top line and seemed to have been decent.

This situation is reminding me a lot like the Stars situation back when Nichushkin was a rookie. P.S. Ruff your assistant coach was a huge reason Val left to play in the KHL for the last two seasons.

Alain Vigneault.

That about sums it up. The guy would rather play the mediocrity that is Jimmy Vesey than arguably our most skilled forward.

Hint: He chews gum incessantly. He is a terrible hockey coach. He has no soul.

This team has no back bone. Gortons a baffoon. He thought he was smarter then everyone else. You let your leaders go what do you expect?. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken S---. Period!

We all have different perspectives and time frames, but between sucking a lot with some kids on the farm and just sucking a bit with zero kids on the farm I take the former.

And the team last year that constantly blew leads had a "backbone"? The only real difference between last years team and this years team is that the former was scoring at a ridiculous rate in the first 20 games of last season. After the hot start, they settled into what they were - a mediocre, 2nd round at best team. If you actually think losing Girardi is having an effect on the win-loss record, I feel sorry for you and your thought process. You can make a case for Stepan being missed, but I seriously doubt this teams record would be any better if you swapped Shattenkirk with Stepan.

What did u expect @Ola when David S. & Zib take penalties? Zucc penalty was poor too, but lucky. :)
I just watched the game about 1 hour ago - we played 20 min. of hockey - 1st & 2nd period was horrific borderline pond hockey.
Zucc need to finish plays to get points on this team, and it will be rough when we move him for futures picks. I don`t expect any playoffs hockey in next (3-4) years if we move Zucc for high picks in the 2018 draft.

A brief summary I did not bother to listen to any post games interviews, but Henrik & Zucc was the main reason we get away with at least 1 pts and OT hockey.
We don`t have a 1st line at all - our players are borderline 2nd. line players, and that`s the main issue come to playoffs time, and our 2nd line are 3rd line players. And when we lost Oscar Lindberg it was the last nail in the coffin for AV and part of his coaching staff. It`s what the expert commentary from Norway mentioned Dahlstrøm beginning of this season.
Who is Zucc going to play with and who is going to finish plays on this current team?

And we need to draft snipers in the future. Nash will be gone, and Zucc might be gone, because this franchise is f***ing garbage from top to toe as Torts used to say it, they suck in drafting, and when a player barely get paid in NHL - they get moved, because they seem clueless how to build a successful franchise.

What in the? He got a huge piece of Eberle's shot. That was unlucky. And I'd love to see anyone stop Tavares' attempt.

The shootout isn't what I want to criticize Lundqvist for. The juicy rebound he gave up leading to the Anders Lee goal, and Barzal scoring on him from the side... Now that's where he needs to be better.

We might win next game 3rd period was a lot better - if they continue to be consistent with their performance.
Hayes line played very well - so some positives as well.
Boiling some eggs, brb. breakfast. ;)
I`m not angry or upset, but I just write what I think this morning, but it doesn`t help with being in a good mood, because of a horrific start of the season, hehe.
What is positive - I thouht Skjei had a good game and he had one in the post - he just need some puck luck! He has a great shot I hope he will use it more for sure! :)

Yeah the AV leash is insane concerning Vesey even though he was close in the last game - good save when he finally hit the puck.
But why is no one from AHL called up to replace him while Vesey get back his confidence in AHL for a month, or just rest him to train with the team until he recover.. And decisions to let him play by the coaching staff is beyond me.

Unfortunately we have depth issues this year. I liked the Desharnais signing, but we should have signed three guys like him to fight for one spot when everyone is healthy -- not one.

Imagine if we get an injury bug! I am not sure how much Gorton can be blamed, the market was pretty thin this year.

Yes, I agree with you @Ola - we don`t have similar depth as last year when we had Stepan. Maybe we should try to get Lindberg back from Vegas - not sure how though, and I don`t know if it would help us concerning depth.

Personally, if Chytil can get his game going in AHL - he might help us later this year on the third line as center. And it might help us with some depth issues we experience right now.
Anyway the league expansion this year with Vegas hit us really hard - no doubts about that.

Yeah, Ori...as much as I also like Lindberg, he can't help us out of our current predicament of not having a #1 Center, and only having one guy good enough to be rated as a #2 Center.

3 options from here on out:

- Do nothing. Continue to tank.
- Look to make a blockbuster Center deal (i.e. Duchene)...but don't mortgage the future.
- Put Miller @ Center and leave him there.

I'm fine with any of the three, as long as #2 wouldn't involve too much futures sacrifice.

I just listen to AV - he is under a lot of pressure. It won`t be easier for him this season and next game is on Saturday. David S. is a fine depth player, but he should not play with Miller or Kreider in my opinion - and he sometimes struggle in our defensive zone also due to his small size. But he is an experience player and sometimes good to deflect shots from our blueline and have net presence which is good.

But yes @Revel I really like Miller as center - I would rotate lines again and use Kreider - Miller - Zucc line. Nash should not play top line minutes while he struggle to finish plays. 6th place in the league with most shots on goal, but only 1 goal tells the story here.

So Zib should play with Buch in my opinion.

Here is Larry Brooks article who write about lack of finishing as well, and comments by Nash & Zucc after last night game.
