If Vegas makes the playoffs then your scenario in which the lotto is rigged in their favor is out the window.

Then they give it to Gary's other child Arizona.

The NHL is not going to give a successful market a top pick unless they've been terrible for a decade like Edmonton or Toronto.

It doesn't. But whatever this half playoff team half rebuild mode that JG has us in definitely doesn't either.

It's not a half rebuild, it's trying to make the team better which is always what you should be doing.

There's no holes on this roster that successful teams haven't put up with before.

At the very least, they should get a chance with a competent coach.

Yup. The roster is much closer than the results would indicate. A better coach would for sure get More out of it. Once again, AV’s player deployment and lineup decisions are holding the team back. I’ve seen this before.

The only real hole in the roster is a Top 6 center, but Chytil and Andersson on the cusp, we’re right there with that too. How about for now giving Hayes favorable starts and not using him as a shutdown center, he’s not Stepan he can’t eat the tough minutes effectively and still produce.

And we had another top 6 center who we played for like 9 minutes in 3 games.

And yes he looked shaky but he was never given a chance, and he never would have gotten a real chance regardless of how he played, because he wasn't in Coach of the Year's plans.

Because I'm sick of the first overall fantasy. It's old and tired. I've seen this team pick high. It's nothing to get excited about.

I don't need to see the team pick high. I want us to have the best chance to win the Stanley Cup. Getting the first pick helps that way more than not getting the first pick, given we are nowhere near winning the Stanley Cup with this current roster. This current roster probably can't even make the playoffs.

This guy makes no sense. He doesn't even try to make sense anymore. He spews BS and hopes no one questions him.

These beat reporters should press him, not just take his BS as fact. He says he played real well, yet he moved him down, gave him the second least ice time on the team (surely we didn't have 17 players play well in a game we lost) and didn't let him play after like five minutes of regulation left.

“When I shortened up the bench, I thought [Buchnevich’s] line with Grabs was real effective,” Vigneault said after practice Friday, when the lines and defensive pairs stayed the same as they have been. “They had some real good minutes in the offensive zone.

“Butchie is a young player. Played [41] games last year, is learning to become a pro, is learning to be consistent. He’s still out on the ice with our first power-play unit. He’s got a tremendous amount of skill and he’s going to get better for us.”

Nothing surprising here. It's not like AV can come out and admit "I think every Russian sucks defensively."

@Pavel Buchnevich AV has short leash with young and unexperienced players. You saw that Buch struggle in defensive zone duties last game on one of the Islanders goal - the MSG Networks had slow motion that Buch left his defensive duties one of the GA last game. Besides no one on this team play like 1st line players at the moment - they all need to increase their performance even Zucc mention this in norwegian media - he said he was horrrific for 40 min. - and the rest of of the team struggled as well.

I really don't understand how a franchise defenseman is supposed to make us into Stanley Cup contenders. We need a #1 center.

I'm amazed at the notion that people think you can throw away a season and guarantee getting a McDavid-level talent. Yes, I understand that things suck at the moment, but the throw it all under the bus crowd doesn't seem to understand that the only guarantee is that you will at least suck for a while and that you might become elite someday.

I think some fans live in a world where everything new is guaranteed good.

For every Chicago there are five Islanders.
