TRADE DETAILS: Washington sends No. 2, No. 41, 2025 first-rounder to Chicago for No. 1 overall pick.

Do not like that…..
Nor do I.

I’d only trade excess capital (like 2025 1st plus 2nd plus? For #1 AND #9 from the Bears.

A la Houston last year, which was what I was responding to.

I want Peters and Slowik. San Fran and Shanny connections too.
Not opposed to this. Peters definitely is looked at as the top GM prospect

Not a bad place for interviews.

Had no idea until looking through the that sportnews prospect link shared earlierbut the Rice kid from USC in many of the Caleb Williams highlights is Jerry Rice's kid. Would not be opposed to drafting a big receiver.

Jumping topics but anyone know why Cole Turner was not playing towards the end of the season?

I would not do a combo platter trade for CHI's 1 & 9 because there's no way either of the franchise-caliber LTs will be there by then. The combo that would jumpstart the rebuild would be the QB/LT (I know that view intensifies your hives, Rids, sorry!).

I think we take the QB that makes it to 2OA, be thrilled, and then see if either ARI or LAC will bite on next year's first and whatever combo of other picks (this year and next) will get the job done. If they don't do it, fine, we've still got our cache of 2024 picks to work with and our first next year, which still ought to be high-ish, barring a miracle one-year turn-around.

But, to me, it's not worth giving up one or more of our 2's plus next year's 1 to be in a position where the BPA is an RT, DE, WR or some such. By that point, I think we'll get a better player with next years first next year.

If we can't pull that early trade off and somehow one of the LTs manages to fall past TEN at 7, then, hell, maybe there is a deal to be had w/ CHI at 9, but it will be less costly then, on its own, than the combo deal would have been.

I was combing through some scouting reports on Maye last night during the Natty, and I was starting to doubt my conviction on him as being the preferred option -- so I stopped combing.

Just one opinion: We're all idiots.

I despise Deadspin getting any click traffic post Peter Thiel funding a lawsuit that kill shotted what Deadspin really was before. Sure it would have probably got in trouble itself but being a victim of billionaire cry baby vengeance quest from a techno-libertarian. I'll stop there since it veers into politics but I hope a simple a good search could see that deadspin is just but a shadow and a though of what it was which still makes me sad.

A tad hyperbolic, but I think most people would (and should) take Caleb over Maye.

I’ve watched a lot of CW the past couple years, and there is a reason he is called the best prospect since Luck, or Mahomes 2.0. He is sensational, and def played against tougher competition than Maye.

Doesn’t mean I don’t like Maye (I’m old school, and like his size and pocket passing). But if Chicago’s GM (or whoever) at #1 passes on CW, and he then turns into what most pro scouts think - that dude will probably get the axe. (IOW imagine taking Leo Carlsson over Bedard).

My biggest concern with CW is the mental side and his attitude. Will he accept coaching and dial back the hero ball plays that won’t work at the NFL level? Still early days in the process, and will be interesting if we hear about his interviews.

All I hear is Harbaugh to DC but I just don't see it. Harris even says "The football ops guy and the coach should be different people", thus counting Harbaugh and Belichick out of the position right off the bat
He's going to the NFL for sure but not Washington
