Had actually not looked at the 2025 QB draft class so that it looks crappy well it tells the story it needs to.
Yea, I mean early thoughts from scouting people are that Shedeur Sanders will be the top rated QB, followed by Quinn Ewers (who was not impressive in the CFP imho). But, Sanders would be QB3, at best, in this year’s draft.

Obviously plenty of time for others to shine and surprise. But it’s nothing like this year’s draft class, which has been hyped for several years now.

Sanders did not look good Vs NFL prospects. I think he would be like QB7 this draft. Caleb, Maye, Daniels, Penix, Nix, JJ all could go 1st round and better than Sanders.

But this QB draft has been hyped for years of being one of the better ones.

This mock would make me crazy. If we trade next years 1st and a high 2nd to move up one spot is some dumb ass stuff. News break we will suck again next season and that pick will be top 10 again.

The Pats would be the big winners if they get Maye and we do something stupid. This mock was prob a bears fan wish.

If the Bears want Harrison they are not getting another top 10 pick next season. Or try getting Bill and the Pats to trade up for Caleb lol

And one last rant. How are they projecting a big ass trade like that before we have a GM do they think its still Bruce Allen running the ship

Much like life, professional sports offer no sure things.

Top picks flop. Slam dunk trades go sideways. Hall of Fame coaches fail. Nobody knows when or why injuries show up.

But what is certain is that strong leadership and sound organizational structure can build winners over time. It’s not easy and it’s not simple, but it can work. So as the Washington Commanders look to embark on yet another rebuild, it’s reasonable to think this one might actually work.

I sure won’t be rushing out to buy season tickets (or any tickets) considering the turd they still play in and the location.

Penix and Burrow are/were the same age when they're in the draft, but Burrow only played two years at LSU and sat on the bench for 3 at OSU. Penix started for five whole seasons, although a few were cut short by injury. 44 starts vs 28.
Right. But Burrow wasn’t “Burrow” until his magical Sr yr season. His Jr year wasn’t anything tremendous. Penix has had 2 back to back really good seasons.

Point being, you can’t lump all of these guys into some “overager” category and throw it in the trash (like @Holtbyisms was doing).

I think that’s a tad shallow view, IMO.

LOL. I mean, I guess one *could* be that enamoured w Caleb Williams, but god help us if that happens.

Could easily be Carolina 2.0. No thanks, not even a little bit.

Kiper in ESPN saying the big question of the draft will be Maye or Daniels at 2.
My armchair view is HELL NO. If they pass on Maye or Williams at 2, I’m going to grab the pitchforks and storm the castle.

As I said earlier, we simply CANNOT OVERTHINK THIS. You take Williams or Maye, and run happily home to tell your folks that you aced the final exam.

Just take Maye or Daniels. The only way Chicago doesn't take Caleb is by trading the pick for a ransom so I'm fine with not getting him

Would one of the Raiders/Falcons/Titans/Patriots/Steelers see Howell as a better gamble as an upgrade on what they have, over what is available to them in the draft or trade? I could see it. But Howell has a weird profile as a guy who one of those QB needy teams is looking ready to move on from, despite posting a bunch of yards.

There's a lot to shake out between now and the draft. Chicago may fall in love with Maye or MH2, or someone else could fall in love with one of them and trade up for them. We have to be fine with either Maye or CW.

Daniels is a notch behind them both for now, but if we like him we might be able to trade down and get him.

I would find this pretty irritating. The team is going to get a real good QB prospect at #2 and we all know that there is a bust chance with all high drafted QBs anyways. I totally agree they need to keep next years 1st rounder.

I keep having to remind myself that all the talk about draft positioning today has yet to be informed by the pre-draft process. Also, realizing that there's already smoke-screening as the top of the draft teams try to make their position that much more valuable to potential suitors. All the rumors and lies are part of what makes the NFL pre-draft process so damn much fun.

p.s. I love Daniels. L.O.V.E. But even I would still take Maye before him because I think Maye is the prototype of the position.

The absolute only way I could get behind trading next years first is if we were to package it to get back into the early first to get one of the OTs after we've already taken the QB. If you can get a franchise QB and his franchise LT in the same year, effing-A, you do it.
HOU made the boss move last year (DE instead of OT, but still), and it changed their entire franchise -- along with a new coach. Not a bad precedent.

Houston also had a stock pile of picks from pulling off that Watson trade. But Yes what they did shows you can turn things around if you nail a draft or 2.

Well, both Howell AND Fields should be available to a team that needs/wants a youngish QB. Chicago and Washington both had good reasons to ditch said QB’s for Williams/Maye. So it shouldn’t be a massive indictment against them.

I can't recall if it was Kiper or another draft guru but they did point out the Maserati is technically the best prospect in the draft it is just that QB needs that always push those to the top.
