EBs overall performance here has to be tempered by the utter chaos surrounding his personnel, the horrible OL he inherited, and being asked/told to make a 5th rnd QB with 1 start into a stud, certainly not an automatic or easy task. He performed well at times and Howell showed at times he was going to be a solid QB. But his play calling lacked imagination, and even common sense at times. He abandoned the run far too often. He called deep balls when the OL couldn't protect, far too often. He left Sam out to dry far too often.
I actually think he might be a better HC than play caller. He did instill a sense of urgency and demanded accountability, in ways previous OCs didn't. He set a culture that even RR didn't instill. His offensive design was fine, but the play calling just didn't seem to maximize his roster or conditions. I'm not going to lose any sleep if we reset completely and he walks for a HC position or isn't retained by the new HC. I don't think he's done enough to automatically be in the lead for the Redskins HC job.
