My feel is if they end up picking at #3 and one of the top two QBs is available they will pick one.
As much as we (and I) are desperate for a franchise LT, if Williams or Maye are there for us, I agree.

Top 3 would be ideal. Once the draft process hears up, I could easily see Daniel’s move into the top 3. I’m thinking 2021 draft mindset.

Then trade with whomever is obsessed w the remaining QB options. There could easily be “a 49er” type team ready to do something stupid.

Is there a downside to having 2 relatively cheap young QB prospects or something? In a league that chews up QBs and relies on them more than any other position?

Exactly…play Sam develop him and the next guy.

Right. I mean, you run the risk of another RG3/Cousins type situation eventually but the main (not only) issue there seemed to be mismanagement of the assets partly due to a meddling, toxic owner.

With better owners and coaches maybe when/if you need to make a choice it doesn't get botched.

This won’t be a popular opinion but I’d draft the shit out of Marvin Harrison Jr if we pick third and the top two QBs are gone.

He does seem a bit of a can't miss draft pick. About the only nit picky thing I've seen some pick holes at is yards after catch. But also interesting for a normal year of RW talent both Nabers (LSU) and Odunze (Was) would be the top receivers in the draft.

You're so close to getting it. Why do you think the league chews up QBs?

Well it’s NOT because every team needs to assemble a great O-line FIRST to have QB success… it’s a violent game and the position is the most difficult and has the most pressure in the sport.

Looks like the mighty 49ers can be beaten, after all.

Still don't believe in the Ravens. However, if there is one team I think can possibly derail SF,
its a healthy Miami team. This is an offense, when healthy, that put up 70 on the Denver Broncos.
The offense is a beast. And Tyreek Hill might be pound for pound the best player in the league.
He pretty much single handedly beat Buffalo in that divisional playoffs a couple of years ago.

I'm just saying a healthy Miami team has the best shot. I still think Its SF's tourney to lose.

Certainly was an interesting game last night. The Niners dealt with some odd luck, and Purdy had a stinker.

Ravens played really well and took advantage of the SF miscues, so hats off to them. They looked good. Niners …. Not so much.

Balt and Buff are the 2 teams in the AFC, IMO, that can beat the NFC team (be it SF, Det, Phil, or Dal).

SF is still the best of the NFC, but the other 3 I mentioned are all strong teams. Lots will depend on matchups and ……luck.

Unnecessarily smug and condescending but I'll bite...

Because QBs handle the ball on almost every play, there's ONE per team that's considered the "franchise guy" so he never gets subbed, and he has several 250-320lb monsters smashing into him and landing on him all game long for several months, often with the hidden agenda of knocking him out of the game.

It only takes one hit. No OL in history has ever protected a QB from ever being hit. Peyton Manning and tons of other top QBs had great OLs throughout their careers and still suffered nasty injuries.

What is the point of your post anyway? I assume it's this OL angle. I've been shrieking at the clouds for a pro quality O-line forever. But if you can draft a second QB in a top 5 spot, you probably just do it (unless you get a massive deal to trade back that you can't refuse, of course).

Higher round OL picks turn into regular starters more often than franchise QBs come knocking at your door.

On another topic, when was the last time we saw a franchise player basically hold out for a massive deal and then come back and have an MVP quality season the next year.

Ravens fans will remember how Flacco kind of reverted to mediocre after his huge deal, and that seems to be the norm in most sports....ball out in a contract year to get the money and then coast.

yeah yeah...we'll see how he does in the playoffs this year but seriously I don't remember the last superstar to just crank things up several gears AFTER signing the big deal.

Detroit is going no where. Benificiaries of a soft schedule and a weak division, they are in for a rude awakening in the playoffs.

And it will serve them right for blowing the 2023 draft. This is a team that could have had Christian Gonzalez and/or Zay Flowers. But bad teams gonna be bad teams.

This debate — QB or OL.

It truly depends on the draft year. THIS year there is a wide breadth of QB strength. At least 6 or so look to have the ability to be NFL QB’s. Possibly more.

Add that to the piece that you’d like to think the Skins won’t be drafting this high again anytime soon, and it all equals QUARTERBACK to me. At least for this year.

The “fear” of destroying said young QB isn’t really a thing for me. You’ve got Howell and probably a Brissett type of vet to shoulder that first year playing load, regardless of what the OL looks like.

They also have 100m and 6 of the first 104 picks They can get 3 OL amongst the remaining 5 picks. It’s a lot of flexibility. Plus FA.

Get the QB now.
