I think Howell became traumatized. A QB with a good arm who takes too long in the pocket and makes some questionable decisions is a terrible match with thisO-line. Brissett is a pro who knows a lot more about how to play with a crap line than Howell possibly could.

Thank goodness we’re going to lose anyway

Absolute perfection! We lost but we got to see that the offense isn’t a complete lost cause, ie Howell was stifling us.

I feel bad for Howell. I really believe he’s a mental mess at this point. All the criticism of taking sacks or forcing a ball in, combined with some pressure, has him shellchocked. We have to draft a QB but I haven’t given up on Sam. New year, new staff, and the pass rush pressure/criticism a little farther in his rear view mirror may still make him salvageable.

That said, Invictus your predictions aren’t looking good right now.

Hope you tank commanders are f***ing happy.
Big picture John. Ideally I would have loved Howell playing well but a loss. Brisett won’t be here next year, a win would only hurt us. But we did learn that our offense isn’t as incompetent as Howell made it look, that’s important for the new FO to see.

Yea, I think he’s a bit punch drunk at this point. Too many hits, being asked to throw way too much. It’s becoming a Luck or Carr (the elder) situation.

Hopefully they’ll bring in good football people so the FO can do an honest eval before the draft. Maybe just start JB the remaining games and let Sam sit and watch.

Sam, how was the fifth round quarterback prospect? He was probably always destined to be a career back up. He will still be a cheap insurance policy for the rest of us. A rookie contract no reason to dump him even if we draft another one

Agreed.

For a while he seemed like The Answer. The last month-plus he's looked like The Trash-fire. The truth is almost certainly somewhere in between. But he's definitely hit the wall, and nothing that happens in the last 2 games against SF and DAL, with a bunch of teammates who have already pressed the f***-it key, is going to provide any useful evaluation fodder.

How can he not be questioning everything he knows right now?

lol. What a game. I tune out to meet friends at a bar, 27-7.

At bar I see game is on, and it was 28-27 with like 2 minutes left, I almost had an aneurysm. I yell…you idiots!! My buddies just laugh.

I had seks with my gf instead of watching the game.

And by "game" I mean the Jets last drive. Took a long nap then woke up to see the defense doing its job in JDR+RR fashion.
