Leafs are a team grandma woukd have over to bake some cookies. They will offer to do a few chores around the house, show off their juggling skills or some other offbeat act while grandma claps with glee. Genuinely nice, safe corporate players.
Then the playoff start and the opposition says, "just force the series to a game seven and the nice guys will fold so they can get back to baking cookies*. If you are T.B you challenge the refs to call a dive against you
I'm not sure Dubas can do enough at this deadline to bring this team to a Cup. I saw some steady glimpses but what has been lacking remains lacking and other teams are now charging a premium for it.
It is what it is, I've accepted that I will never see a Leafs Cup and I"m far from alone in that regard. Our best shot was with a single owner in Ballard who answered to no one, without a cap and some of us know what he did.
Te most mentally tough Gamers don't often wear a Leaf uniform and when they do they don't stick around. It's the best place to play if you are a player. Fans are just perpetual sufferers.
Watching Reilly I would say this, ditch the borderline offensive gambles, focus on defense first snd stop respecting from time to time. Oddly, I thought he played very strong (at times) when paired with Lybushkin last year. It was sometimes a bit frantic but it was hell for the opp
It's Pessimistic (or is it realism?) Friday so I will be a bit more direct than usual.

Love this...
Keep it real, though... Dude's been awful. This isn't controversial or fringe. At all.. in the slightest.. even for this site. We can all reason that the lack of effort, conditioning and defensive skill are all well-established calling cards of Big Morgs, at the best of times. These aren't even those, here.
Nice PP distributor, decent transition guy, leads the league in unforced icings I'm sure, but other than that - reasonable puck mover when he wants to be. That's about all we can say for him.
You know, if I want to be fringe or controversial for real - I would instead ask who the common denominator is for all the Leafs losing you can name in the last 2 regimes? There's only one guy that's been there for both. He just got that stink on him, unfortunately. I would trade him for almost anything in the NHL for that reason alone - but especially his equivalent perceived value in LW. He strikes me as the guy that welcomes every new leaf with any ounce of spunk into the room and tells 'em, "hey bud - just chill - it's nice here - we have everything.. don't make us look bad. Just play the role, put on a show - and we'll go home to our lady friends. Sound good?" Too bad Van doesnt have a good enough LW, cuz Mr "I'll take the easy road for $1000 Alex" would only leave this cushy org for one closer to his upbringing probably. I mean, only Morgs would take such a perceived discount to return to this hellhole of losing - even the young guys know better than that.
But I wouldn't say all that. Just the first 2 paragraphs.

This has to be on the table. If a trade comes that will push us over the top and it takes Rielly to do it, I don't care how "fan-friendly" or "likeable" he is. If Derozan could be moved, Rielly can be moved.
