I believe you're over the cap as we only have enough room for 1 spare player to start the year (if we don't use LTIR, we'll have room for a 2nd player some point soon).

I also think somebody said Semyonov is waiver exempt which is why I personally think management will keep Brooks up over him.

Everything else looks realistic.

Semyonov might be gone if he gets sent down since he has an out clause.

This is the best lineup I can assemble:

Ritchie - Matthews - Marner
Bunting - Tavares - Nylander
Kase - Kampf - Mikheyev
Engvall - Kerfoot - Spezza
Simmonds

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl (I think Lilj will take this spot by mid-season)
Dermott - Liljegren
Sandin (rotation between bottom three guys in early season)

Campbell/Mrazek

I feel good about it.

You don't believe we will have a purpose-built checking line?

Your 3rd and 4th lines each have a player on them that limits their checking ability (Spezza and Simmonds). You could swap Engvall in for Simmonds to give you a more traditional defensive line.
I see Kampf's line being a 3rd line...3b at worst and I don't see Bunting on a 4th line to start the year.

It’s nice having interchangeable depth from 10-15 on the depth chart.

The neat thing is that there looks to be an internal wave of replacements in house to fill all the FA gaps for next season, if the team is so inclined.

Mik, Kase, Spezza > Robertson, Anderson, Steeves, maybe Ho-Sang. SDA, Abramov, Gogolev pushing depending on development.

I sure hope Kampf is on more of a 4th line than a 3rd line.

And Simmonds is actually good defensively.

I didn't know Simmonds was good defensively...I haven't looked into the defensive stats on him, but my previous impression and last year's eye test had him as more of an O-zone and PP guy.

As for Kampf, I hope he is on a third line that plays 10 important ES minutes a night with a lot of d-zone starts...this would give our top 6 a chance to catch their breath and focus on O-zone.

Line 1 - 16 ES minutes
Line 2 - 16 ES minutes
Line 3 - 10 ES minutes
Line 4 - 6 ES minutes

I think this is what Keefe has wanted since he got here.

Soups injury forces some adjustments to the top 6. Does Kase move up or Bunting. (nobody’s said Engvall)

Ritchie - Matthews - Marner
Bunting - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - Kampf - Kase
Spezza - Brooks- Simmonds

Engvall spells off Spezza on back to backs and Simmonds against smurfs.

Brooks hit the waiver wire this morning, doesn’t look like he’s starting the year off with the Leafs.

Extra: Amadio
IR: Mikheyev

Seems like we have our starting line-up
That’s how I see it playing out. The question now is with our defence. Does Liljegren finally crack the roster?!

Engvall said he “felt pretty good” following the game at Scotiabank Arena and was asked about trying to bring more of a physical element.
“It’s just a mindset,” Engvall said. “Once you get out there, you try to let it go and play your game. You can’t go out there and think about hitting.” - rag

At least he's honest. I'm glad he's not thinking about hitting because if he was, his one hit in 11:40 minutes of ice time would be concerning.

I like Engvall's speed, his reach, he even has a nice shot and scores goals. He could be a monster if he laid out some guys or even just finished more checks.

He had the same hits per minute as Hyman did. Can he be more aggressive? Sure, but he uses his size ok for protecting the puck at least. I don't know how fast the guy thinks, last thing I want is him in his own head forcing himself to chase hits that take him out of the play. If the team is playing with more of an edge and it comes naturally, great.

Imagine how many our current thugs bunting and ritchie finna kill in the first and second lines y'all...!!!! They finna CLAP BACK!!! CLAP BACK!!! Clap BACK!!! Like JA RULE WITH HIS HIT SONG back in the days. Underrated sucka that was too, just like some other fools. Now when you hear this new "music" dirt... even ja rule and master p sound the greatest of all time. This current dirt ain't going nowhere fools.

i still think the best course of action is trading kerfoot but given the current state of things ..

Ritchie ----- Matthews --- Marner
Bunting ---- Tavares ----- Nylander
Kerfoot ---- Kampf ------- Kase
Engvall ---- Seymonov/Amadio ---- Spezza/Simmonds

I've said it numerous times before...Engvall is a nasty/mean streak away from being an elite bottom 6 forward. Dude is above average in all other facets. He simply just refuses to use his size, however...which is just sad.

He's literally costing himself $$$.....because we all know how mych teams still value Toughness around the league. Imagine if Engvall has all the tools he has today but also the grit like a Coleman/Goodrow has.

He'd be a extremely hot commodity

I see Kase and Kampf stapled together but I really like the already mentioned line of

Nylander Tavares Kase I really hope we try it.

Ritchie Matthews Marner
Nylander Tavares Kase
Kerfoot Kampf Engvall
Bunting Spezza Simmonds

Bunting can certainly fit higher if needed.....can Engvall play on the right?

2 solid scoring lines
1 legit shutdown line
1 energy/pesky line that still offers a little skill

For D midseason....after Lil hopefully proves capable of tough minutes

Reilly Brodie
Muzzin Liljegrin
Sandin Holl
Dermott

Ritchie - Matthews - Marner
Bunting - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - Kampf - Kase
Engvall - Spezza - Simmonds

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl
Sandin* - Liljigren*
Dermott* Rotation*

Campbell
Mrazek

Can Ritchie become our Wilson? Can't see why not

Agree with this lineup entirely. Except Dermott will get first showing over Liljegren, and the 4th line they'll free up Spezza to go to the wing after draws and it'll be Simmonds-Engvall-Spezza
