The Nico line has been cooking for multiple games, I'm not sure I'd switch them out after 1 game.

The one game thing was kind of the point. At least a point in how that relates to people acting as if Meier Hughes Bratt is something that needs to happen.

I mean, we're still 6-3-1 in our last 10. We've won the xGF% battle 9 out of those 10 games (the one we lost was at 49.54%). 7 of those 10 were over 60% also.

They're not playing badly at all, quite the contrary. They're trending fine.

They were giving up the slot the whole night, really bad on the coaching staff adjusting or the players not listening. I doubt McLeod blew an assignment if he was told because he’s a decent PKer

You don’t leave Matthews time and space. Realistically he’s the guy who’s going to beat you and he’s the option you take away. Make someone else beat you.

Shango has been pretty good on the PK for us when all else has failed him.

Wish we weren’t trying to break him in on his off wing. Not where he played in San Jose. That’s an adjustment too.

But sure it’s going to take him some time. Plus it’s his second game back after injury.

Yeah, he had a couple hiccups, but I thought he looked really good otherwise.

Vanecek is what he is, a .905 to .908 goaltender. He isn't a 1A option in the NHL.

Yet somehow they're the third best team in the league with him in the 1A role

I know it's like a meme at this point, but it's very true at the end of the day. My expectations for this group haven't really changed this season. Given the season though, they'll definitely change for next year.

I think we've forgotten that we're still one of the youngest teams in the league with an extremely young core. Way too much positive stuff going on this year to get pissed off and pessimistic, the future is extremely bright, regardless of what happens the rest of the way in our first turnaround season.

Carolina doesn't. Edmonton doesn't. Toronto doesn't.

Edmonton is in a similar boat to us but Skinner is still clearly better than Vanecek.
Samsonov is miles better
Carolina is probably around the same.

The frustrating thing is Schmid is clearly better at stopping the puck and handling the puck but it's like noone cares. This is Grant Fuhr is a good goaltender syndrome all over again.

No. They didn’t look tired out there. A tired team would be on their heels more. They just made critical mistakes at wrong time of the game.

They aren’t playing bad, but they need to clean stuff up. Once they get the playoffs the margin on this stuff is small.

Skinner: 1.2 GSAx, .913 sv%, 2.86 GAA
Samsonov: 10.9 GSAx, .915 xv%, 2.4 GAA

It's not that clear to me, seems like pretty even goalies across the board. You could give the edge to Samsonov for the GSAx, but other than that it's fairly tight.
