Sorry, this is just a hilarious comment to kind of cast shade on the devils and their history considering that they do have 3 stanley cups and 5 eastern conference titles.
This is the biggest crime committed with the scheduling. That series was definitely the other east series I was wanting to watch. Maybe by the time Game 3 and 4 come around they'll have an extra off day for Tampa/Toronto, but sadly they'll want Game 3 on Saturday Night and the Rangers are basically locked in to Saturday Game 3 with the Knicks being in MSG on Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Maybe they'll push Game 3 NYR/NJD to Sunday night, but I don't see it.Damn shame that this series is being played the same days as Toronto-Tampa. Should be the best two opening round series.
Gotta be able to catch them first
I don't think the size will play much of a role. Even post season, NYR don't really play too tightly. Rangers have to use their legs and not skate at cruise control level.I picked Devils in 6 but now I am not so sure, didn't think about the size advantage the Rangers have.
I honestly have no read on this, a sweep either way or 7 games seems all equally plausible
Wait til the winner plays the IslandersThis series trash talk is going to make the NYR - Penguin series talk from last season seem mild...
Are the Rangers more physical though ? I think the best way to negate or slow down the Devils speed is to be physical , but the Rangers are not really built to lay that way.Give me the more experienced team, that's more physical, better defensively, and has a sizable advantage in net. Rags in 6.
Although both teams show resilience when being down a goal or more, I really think the key to this series is who can get an early lead in games. The first goal will set the tone in these games.
True....but playoff hockey is different...the games arent played the same way or called the same way.Outside of their final game this season, the team that scored the first two goals always blew that lead and lost the game.
Nothing comes easy when these teams meet
It's fans like you that will make it a beautiful day if the NYR ever win. Listen, Machinehead is right, Miller's game recently has been off. Too many stupid defensive zone turnovers. Trouba is a good player and can be a physical difference-maker in a series like this, despite your fanbase's opinion of him. Lindgren is a good d-man. The bottom pair for us will not play more than 13 or so minutes. One defense went three rounds last year. The disrespect the Rangers d gets is comical. Both teams having good centers doesn't have to turn into a pissy match if the Devils have significantly better ones. One team has a top-6 with a total of 460 playoff games combined, four Cups, and a bunch of others that have been witnesses to knock down, drag out series'. Adversity matters. The Devils' top-6? 81 playoff games and nothing else to show for it, so let's chill. I will sit here right now and say that I have a ton of respect for the Devils' turnaround. They are a very good team and will be for a while, and they can very much smack us if we don't play the right way, but this Rangers team getting **** on by the Devs fanbase is a good thing. How is a team with worse centers and a worse defense better built than NJ?
