Devils in 6!

I’ll be at Game 3 & 5!

Rangers have more experience, better goaltending and a superior PP.

Devs are better at pretty much everything else.

Tatar was one of our best players this year. His impact has been huge. I know what happened in the playoffs two years ago, I guess we’ll see.

Palat has been basically invisible for months. I’d probably take Laf at this point.

Lindgren Siegenthaler is tough. From the second half last season to maybe December this season, Siegs played like a #1 defenseman. He never produced much offense, but his defensive impact was bonkers. His play fell off badly around December and has only partly recovered. If someone watched both players closely and told me Lindgren was better, I’d believe them.

I don’t think much of Gallant but Ruff is awful.

Anyway, I’m not gonna pretend that I actually watched the Rangers that much this year, my rankings are based mostly on vibes and any of them could be wrong

ok good to know.

Lindgren is if anything underrated imo ... people think he is the second coming of Girardi. But he has better vision & puck-moving than Dan. And he can skate.

Interesting about Ruff. What's the assessment of NJD's assistant coaches?

I said Rangers in 7, but I really have no idea. A shame that they have to meet in the 1st round, really.

Oh yeah, I respect Lindgren’s game. I usually consider NY to have three good defensemen, Fox, Miller, and Lindgren. Although I might be selling Schneider short, don’t really know much about him.

The assistants are fine, better than last year. Brunette was brought in as heir apparent to the throne but his impact on the powerplay has probably been a mild disappointment. He also got arrested for getting sauced up and driving a golf cart in Florida during the all star break, lol.

He’s probably still next in line for HC.

The assistant they brought in from Vegas has been a great addition too, his name just escapes me.

Rangers in 6.

This is going to be a fun series, as these teams are a super even match. I maybe should have said 7. I'm just really hoping for a fun postseason for P Kane.

Rangers in 4 , possibly 3

It’s not like the Rangers have forwards who are super physical to exploit that
Yeah, I don’t really agree with it, there’s at least a thread of reason there if someone wants to argue it. “Consistency”, not so much.

The physicality on their back end is something our forwards will have to adjust to, though. You know they’ll try and get them off their game with a bunch of garbage after the whistle.

Don't really get the whole "Learning to do" comment people make.

The Devils have been the best comeback team this season, They don't easily give up so it isn't like they are a mentally soft young team.
Playoff Hockey isn't the same as regular season hockey for one.

Dougie's pretty damn close this year offensively, if not better, but Fox is better defensively
Devils fans are about to find out why hurricanes fans didn't mind letting him walk.... Playoff Dougie doesn't even attempt to play defense.

We know who dougie is. It’s not like he switches defense off for the playoffs, he’s pretty consistent with his style of play. He’s just had his best season ever because of that style of play. Seems like a weird criticism coming from a fan of a team who loves to generate offence from back end. Hamilton scored more points than anyone in a hurricanes uniform this season.

Generating back end offense and having zero effort on the defensive end are not mutually inclusive... Yeah all those secondary assists pump that number up.

its not that different. This trope that its some completely different sport in the playoffs is nonsense.

and Dougie was great for us this year, thanks. I don't really care what he did in Carolina. He just put up nearly a point per game for us in our franchise best season. and your owner let him go because hes a cheapskate. thanks for the concern!

Devils haven’t relied on Hamilton to play a shut down role at all this season. They deploy Graves and Marino to chew those minutes up. It would be like me criticizing Slavin because he only managed 27 points. I know that’s not his role so it would be an asinine criticism. Your big deadline pick up was Gostisbehere. Do you think they picked him up for his all around game?

Anyway, I think Hamilton did a little more than secondary assists this season. 22 goals was second most for a dman this year. That would also be the 4th highest total for the hurricanes this season.

The speed of the Devils really scares me. I don’t know if the Rangers play physical enough to negate it. I do trust Shesty and the kids though.

In the playoffs of twenty twenty-three,
The Rangers and Devils will meet with glee,
Their rivalry fierce, their passion ablaze,
Each team vying for victory in their own ways.

The Rangers with their grit and will,
The Devils with their speed and skill,
Both teams hungry for a chance to advance,
And claim the ultimate prize, the championship dance.

The Garden and The Rock will be filled with sound,
As fans from both sides gather round,
To cheer on their team, to share in the thrill,
Of a playoff series that promises to thrill.

So let the puck drop, let the games begin,
As the Rangers and Devils battle to win,
May the best team come out on top,
And lift the Cup, never to stop.

I predict one of our teams will win.

This series is definitely a clash of the titans. The Devils are a deep team, but the Rangers aren't lacking in talent either. At the end of the day, I see Shesterkin willing the Rangers to a win or two. New York in 7.
