I voted Rangers in 4 as a joke answer, but my real prediction is Devils in 7.

Devils fans are about to find out why hurricanes fans didn't mind letting him walk.... Playoff Dougie doesn't even attempt to play defense.

Lol ok buddy, you letting Dougie walk cost you a series against the Rags last year. Considering Canes fans were taking victory laps saying that DeAngelo at 925K was better value than Dougie at 9M and then the former completely sputtered your powerplay against them in Round 2.

Feels similar to 2012 in a lot of ways. Expect the Devils to carry much of the play and we see how much the Rangers goaltending can overcome that.

As a Ranger fan, you really can never be confident about much. But I will say 'Keep your heads up" to the kids from DiRtY JerZ...

Devils haven’t relied on Hamilton to play a shut down role at all this season. They deploy Graves and Marino to chew those minutes up. It would be like me criticizing Slavin because he only managed 27 points. I know that’s not his role so it would be an asinine criticism. Your big deadline pick up was Gostisbehere. Do you think they picked him up for his all around game?

Anyway, I think Hamilton did a little more than secondary assists this season. 22 goals was second most for a dman this year. That would also be the 4th highest total for the hurricanes this season.
Brady Skeji and Brent Burns has 18 goals and Ghost had 15.... and to the guy saying not having Dougie lost us the series I can show a specific 5 minute stretch the season prior were he literally got us eliminated by not attempting to play defense for an entire period.

its not that different. This trope that its some completely different sport in the playoffs is nonsense.

and Dougie was great for us this year, thanks. I don't really care what he did in Carolina. He just put up nearly a point per game for us in our franchise best season. and your owner let him go because hes a cheapskate. thanks for the concern!
Yikes that was a franchise best season? We sucked the last month and still won the metro.

You’re really just showing your immaturity.

That was your franchise’s second best season!?

Give me the more experienced team, that's more physical, better defensively, and has a sizable advantage in net. Rags in 6.
The rangers aren’t better defensively, the only thing the rangers have that’s better is the goalie and the devils have had no issue with him even last year when he was way better than this season.

They tried to keep him, but wouldn't pony up enough money and have been trying to replace him ever since with DeAngelo and Burns. I'm sure they're both defensive stalwarts in the playoffs.

Good thing you don't come across as salty by coming into a Devils-Rangers thread and going on and on about a former player.

Hurricanes fans in here chirping the Devils lol. You guys have been good the last few years and didn't come anywhere close to even a cup final. Pressure is on you guys and not on the Devils.

It’s just one guy. He’s Big Mad about Dougie leaving and I understand why since Dougie had more primary assists this year than Aho or Svech.

I don’t know why you’re bringing up dmen that also scored less than dougie. Doesn’t change the fact that he scored more points than anyone on the hurricanes this season. I don’t know why you are still grinding an axe about Hamilton getting the hurricanes eliminated years later. Hurricanes did pretty well getting eliminated without him last season. You would likely still have Hamilton if your cheap skate owner wasn’t obsessed with trying to turn nickels into dimes instead of just picking up a quarter. Slither back under your bridge in the hurricanes match up thread. You can talk shit on the devils if you manage to limp past the islanders.

Regular season success doesn't always carry over to playoff success. Just look at Florida last year. If the top teams in the regular season always means more playoff success, then that would mean the Presidents trophy winners would and should be winning more stanley cups in the same year.
The last 7 President's Trophy winners failed to get past the second round.

I don’t trust the devils goaltending.

I’ll take the Rags in 6.

Outside of staying out of the box, this would be the other major concern, of course. I wouldn't at all be shocked if VV lost a game in this series just by being bad and Igor stole a game for the Rangers where NY was clearly outplayed.

If something like that happens, really hard to win a series
