Gignac played one game in the NHL for us and then couldn't stay on the Bingo AHL team. He's signed to an AHL contract with Laval. Now, we sure could use him in Albany but that's about it.

Nemec needs to learn to play the body. Before he learns that, he needs to be kept away from the NHL. Guys will run circles around him there.
Lol are you basing this opinion off one video? Because it really isn’t an issue and stuff like that happens to every dman from time to time. Look at Dougie the other night. Even Slavin gets walked sometimes

Lol what makes you think that? I watch almost all Comets-Games and he is just not NHL ready, which shouldn't be surprising considering his age.

Wheeler was pretty glowing in his assessment of Nemec, even while conceding he had a rough first half of a season (since rookie and training camp).

I was expecting a little more production from Nemec so far this season...but Utica kind of sucks in terms of production...so I can't read too much into an 18 year old just turned 19 Dman with 18 points in 43 games.
From the reports we have Nemec gets barely any PP time and is mostly used on the PK. For a 18-year old Euro’s first pro regular season in North America, it’s a pretty darn good one overall for him.

I anticipated seeing over .5 PPG. .4 is a little lower than I would've hope for to this point.

While I don’t disagree the team doesn’t score much. In the Utica thread it was just posted they have scored 1 goal in about half of their last 15 games. Really bad. I can’t slog a teenager in his first season on a new continent. As others have noted he seems to be doing well overall.

Like I said I'm not reading too much into it.

That said a #2 overall should be able to transcend obstacles in the AHL and produce regularly.

what the hell does this even mean lol just because he isnt hitting made up, nonsense "benchmarks" that you created in your head doesnt mean anything.
Yet somehow Jiricek has been able to surpass the made up in my mind benchmark by far. On a worse team.

Look I am not looking to take shots at Nemec and I am not even criticizing him.... but 18 points in 43 AHL games isn't good from a #2 overall under any circumstances.

Meh. He’s a teenaged rookie defender on a crappy team. If he’s in his own end every shift because the forwards botch the exits over and over I’m not sure that’s his fault. According to the Utica posters Nemec is one of the few players on Utica who can skate with the puck and complete a pass. He’s got a good shooting rate but if forwards aren’t going to the net for screens and tips what’s he supposed to do? The only criticism I’ve read is he’s got to work on his shot velocity. I think you have to be careful not to just stat watch with a defenseman. He’s clearly not NHL ready. If he could create offense as a defender on a bad AHLteam He’d already be in NJ.

Jiricek since returning from the WJC has a whopping 1 goal in 13 games and is a minus 5. After a hor start he’s tailed off considerably. He’s not a great benchmark at this point.
