Is it though? Kreider scored 29 goals last year. Did anyone realistically think he'd be anything more than a 30 goal power forward? He is what we thought he'd be.

The issue I see with him is that he is one-trick pony. If you don't add a thing to or two to your arsenal each year, success will be difficult. Opponents in the league are too smart and will figure you out. Kreider relies on the stretch pass as he flies down the wing for his offense. Other than that, he mostly floats out there. When that stretch pass is not working, he is mostly out of the game. A lot of his goals last year were accidental goals - goals off his body as he is parked in front. He can still get some goals that way this year, but he needs to morph and mature his game to find greater success.

Can't wait til we draft Dahlin, and he gets sent to the minors so that Steven Kampfer can play

That guy is going to be able to fire his own coaches, I don't think he has to worry about it.

Eichel fired Bylsma. If McDavid, Matthews, Laine want a coach gone, they'll go.

It takes luck to get a franchise talent, not a #1 pick.

Being terrible every year is not better than being mediocre every year.

We already have the best defenseman we've had since Leetch. To trade him just to get another McDonagh (which is what Dahlin probably is) is extremely foolish.

I guess where the discrepency lies is how good you think Dahlin could be, and how good McDonagh is.

If he only develops into a McDonagh level defender, that would probably be a disappointment.

Criticizing a coach or Staal, or Nash, or Shattenkirk is always okay. Criticing fan favorites is sacrilege here, no matter how
Talent levels of players change game to game? Was Gretzky not talented when he didn't score in a game?
Looking forward to hear who on the Rangers roster you are comparing to Gretzky.

When a #1 wing and major player on the power play has zero goals it is fair to criticize him, no matter how much this upsets you, or should we wait until it's 10 games? At what point would you say something negative about him?

I still have high hopes for him, but he ain't cutting it right now.

No other snarky remarks in this thread, eh?
This applies to Nash also I assume?!?!

Even if he's a slight improvement, we're dealing McDonagh to wait 3-5 years to get our 1D back. That sets us back.

I went into 2017 thinking the Rangers were cooked and the Giants/Mets would save me. Then the Mets had their worst season in recent memory. Then the Giants had their own worst season in memory and I thought the Rangers would be kinda good. Now the Rangers are horse**** too.

Someone give me something!!!

When do the Knicks start? Sorry couldn't resist :)

We also have to think, maybe this team doesn't know how to develop top prospects when we do manage to get them. I mean, how does this team EVERY TIME we get a high pick, they 99.9 percent end up being busts.

Literally could guess you'd respond to me with a snarky reply.

Change it up, way too predictable.

Our brother Chosen was voted our official "board curmudgeon" or hadn't your heard that PB?

After 12 years of not having said one positive thing about the Ranger team itself or anyone here on the board , it was actually pretty easy for our boy Chosen to win this dubious award....lol.

I kid..i kid so no coronaries Chosen. Once in awhile tho bud, it might not hurt ya if you once in awhile didn't sound so dour or negative...ya think?.....:)

Dahlin? Meh. He's a wing. We need elite Cs.
Dahlin is a defenseman, and unless Svechnikov (actually a winger) lights the world on fire, Dahlin is getting picked #1.

Not that I expect us to be drafting first overall, but if you are, we're not drafting a center, nor is anybody else.

The league gets like 3 new generational players every draft by these standards

FWIW, I don't think Matthews, Eichel, Laine are generational.

Dahlin is the best defensive prospect I've seen, a lot of other people are saying the same thing. Whether there's 1 generational player or not every 10 years, and maybe that goes to McDavid, he's at the very least generational for a defenseman.

Maybe something like the haul they got for Leetch. A third liner and a bunch of garbage.

Don't think you can make that comparison. He was 36 and Sather was dumping everyone. McD has a lot more value, not that I would trade him.
