Zadorov's name has been brought up.

His size and physicality would definitely be a nice add to our blueline but what is his skating ability like? Can he be an effective 3rd pairing LHD?

Some of these hits are crazy

He is a very strong skater for his size. His puck skills and decision making ability are mostly what holds him back.

So you'd have to play him with a quality puck mover.
Who defends well, because there will be 2 on 1's when Zadorov takes himself out of the play going for a big hit....although he's reigned that in a bit, it's still an issue like it was with Lyubushkin.

So essentially another McCabe in the playoffs

Haha well I don't think that would be Klingberg.

Maybe a Zadorov - Liljegren pairing could be good.

I think we'd do well to add some size and physicality to our defense especially with the departure of Schenn.

Zadorov is really underrated. I watch him a lot here in Cgy and I love him.

While I believe the two teams are good trade partners , I think it’s been reported the owner doesn’t want Conny trading with Brad lol.

Super bushleague but what do you expect from one of the worst owners in hockey :’(

If I'm trading Willy to Detroit I need Lucas Raymond back as the starter. You cannot go into next year with Jarnkrok/Lafferty/Reaves as 3/4 of your RW group.

You basically give up 80 point Nylander now for a guy that will likely get there within the next few seasons.

You basically tossed cold water on your own idea why Detroit would never do that ...

Trade for a 27 year old Nylander wanting $10 mil per for 80 points when Raymond is only year #3 of his ELC and in a couple years likely an 80 point player himself and years younger and much cheaper. :)

Leafs window is closing fast with players all making > $10 mil and Detriot's Cup competitiveness window just on the horizon when the Raymond and Morietz Seider are coming out of their ELC.

Muzzin used to do this too back in the day. I think a lot of physical dmen do this.

I think guys like Zadorov sometimes figure it out later in their careers - as you've mentioned he's already better at it. The raw tools are there - he's massive but can skate. Decision making can definitely improve with age.

Really think there's potential for him to be a massive positive dman.

Depends how quickly Detroit wants to compete. Willy is the better player now and likely will be the next couple seasons. Their moves indicate that they are trying to push for a playoff spot this year.

I'm not moving Willy for less than that as a starting point.

That can also be addressed with the cap space in my proposal. We also need a stud on Defense and our D pool is very thin outside of Niemela. To do that, we need to trade one of our stud wingers.

I think Detroit could be a good partner there. Or Colorado for Byram like I've suggested in the past.

Would this be a good idea to recreate in Toronto??

Should Leafs try and acquire Christian Dvorak from Montreal on the cheap and re-unite the London Knights line as a trio in the NHL now and watch them regain their former chemistry they once had?

As much as I think it was a great junior line, Dvorak was awful this year. It'd have to be a cap dump for cap dump move. IE: Dvorak for Murray.

Trade Nylander already!

We can use the assets and cap space moving forward.
It would be insane to roll back the same core….
How many years of failure do we need to endure?
