What was the salary cap when Crosby signed over 11 years ago with an illegal backdiving contract, and what has been his best season since?

And how much did MacKinnon sign for again?

You might wanna research this stuff. But no worries, facts is not your thing, I get it.

Crosby signed for 14.5 percent of the cap when he could have got 20. That’s after he signed for 17.3 when he could have got 20.

MacKinnon signed for 15.27 for a full 8 years. That’s fair, and pretty much what Matthews should be getting.

Seems like research you could have done… since it’s not my thing…

Comparables with Willy don't work, or at least they didn't last time. We all looked at contracts like Ehlers' and Pastrnak's and in the end it didn't play into the negotiations at all, or if they did it wasn't in the Leafs favour. As much as we want the contracts of Debrincat or Meier to be a sort of baseline for a Nylander contract, I doubt he or Gross give two f***s.

Nylander contract fell right in between Pastrnak and Ehlers last time… how did the comparables not work?

Any interest in Toews as the 3rd line C if he's healthy. motivated and willing to sign dirt cheap contract or is he too washed at this point?

They don't dump 21 year old second round picks who are shaping up to be a middle 6 scorer after 2 injury plagued seasons for no reason other than a fan is not really happy either.

Oh. sorry, just a heads up.
Good, when we get one we'll keep them.

Sorry to break it to you, but the Robertson poster on your wall is worthless. He's a dime a dozen prospect.

I still believe our best option is to trade Willy to Philly. Adding Konecny to our top 6 would do wonders. Imagine having to go against Konecny, Bertuzzi, Domi and Reaves night in and night out. Not to mention, it might make our other players (Matthews, Marner, Rielly, etc) play that much bigger.

To Toronto-
Konecny
Laughton
Sanheim

To Philadelphia-
Nylander
Brodie
Jarnkrok
Niemela
1st Round Pick

To Toronto-
Zadorov

To Calgary-
Robertson
2nd Round Pick

Buyout Murray

Knies-Matthews-Konecny
Bertuzzi-Tavares-Marner
McMann-Laughton-Domi
Reaves-Kampf-Lafferty

Rielly-Sanheim
McCabe-Klingberg
Zadorov-Liljegren
Giordano

Yes. Despite being pulled along by a better player than him in Kane for much of that sample, and getting massive amounts more PP time, Debrincat still couldn't match Nylander in a stat that is comparatively flattering.

And nylander with matthews/jt/marner... and please dont tell me nylander was carrying a player who had a ppg all his carreer...

And nylander played a high amount of pp time too... and something different is the fact nylander was playing in great team who played the most of the time with all lead... when you having lead, oplosite team dont have choice to take offensive risk so raising your chance to get breakaway, 2v1 on counter attack..

So at the end, yes i thibk its pretty similar

Most of that sample wasn't with Matthews or Marner, and Nylander wasn't being pulled along offensively by Tavares over that stretch.

But a significant amount less than Debrincat, which impacts his raw production. Debrincat had the 5th most PP time in the league over that stretch.
At the rate Nylander produces on the PP, that difference in PP time alone would have boosted Nylander to 1.06 P/GP, compared to Debrincat's 0.93. A significant gap.

If Cat is getting sub 8m x 4, I'd have to imagine Willy comes in around 9 on a long term deal, no?

Nylander had a better year last year and has fewer GP, but since 2017/18, they've been pretty close.

Lets make a small game... 5v5 of different player last 3 year... can you name me who are those player without cheating and go watch stats to find them

205 52 goal 63 assist
210 game 53 goal 62 assist
201gm 44 goal 7 assist
204 55 goal 59 assist
204 gm 44 goal 67 assist
214 game 51 goal 64 assist
183 game 42 goal 66 assist
198 gm 43 goal 64 assist
178 gm 35 goal 65 assist

I can't imagine Treiliving going in to next season with the defense as is.

There will be a move

Wonder if someone like Nick Seeler fits what they are looking for. Cheap contract, depth guy who's hard nosed defensive orientated. Gives them something different on the back end. Probably wouldn't cost much I don't think.

He’s pretty shit. I hope we aim for something higher.

Looking at the Ottawa return I think the Leafs just start looking like Nylander as a 1 year rental that cost a conditional 1st, 4th and prospect(what they did not get). If they sign him at some point great, if not how many draft picks and young players did Dubas give up for players for half the time and much less skilled.

It was behind them, which means he wasn’t facing the top checkers.

Being part of an elite PP pads your stats.

We get a worse RW, worse defensemen, and about the same level forward while also giving up Niemela/Robertson/1st/2nd while only getting Zadorov as an additional return.

This would be horrendous for us. The top prospect and 1st round pick should at least be on the other side of this deal.

He probably does fit, but I wonder with the number of UFA D man still available, does it make sense to give up assets, to bring in a guy who would be a 7/8 at this point?

A guy like Patrick Nemeth brings some size, hits, blocks shots.. would come in a league min and wouldn't cost anything to trade for. Or Caleb Jones. What about Cal Foote? Big dude, still motivated to make the NHL, and he's a UFA. I've even wondered about bringing Dermott back... he knows the system, might help with the Marlies, but would be effective as an 8th guy, in case of injuries.
