The player was not put into a position to succeed by an inept coach for multiple years.
If you do not think this is the case, I don't know what to tell you. It's quite obvious and easy to identify.
Signing former Soo players replaced by signing failed Leafs players.
This guy is really something.

Man...I remember Mango being a beast in the Marlies...that devil's game I was there live after that concussion was never the same.
You can’t ever complain about a guy on a near league min deal. But Dubas sure does love guys he already knows. Guys from the Soo, Jarnkrok was his client when he was an agent and now he brought in Johnson and Acciari from when he was here.
I wonder if he calls about any other Leaf players

He had been put in position to succeed ALL YEAR LONG by giving a lot more of defensive situation to rielly ( where hes not at his best) to help young player like liljegren, sandin, timmins to be in good spot to perform and having succes... the only time he didn't get challenged because keefe finally had the possibility to do it, he failed the test but for you its all keefe fault if liljegren was just not good enough.
........What games do you watch?
Every mistake Liljegren made, he was benched and had his ice time significantly cut down for multiple games thereafter. He had an incredibly short leash; like "I hate this guy" length.
Lily likely has the best point shot on the team. Why didn't he get a 10-15 game stint on PP1?
As much as Gio and McCabe helped him, he reciprocated by being able to handle his own man and by bailing them out by having a very strong transition game and likely best breakout pass on the team.
But yah, sit him because they got scored on. That'll help while he watches #3 glide for 10 seconds before and AFTER they get scored on.

No i watched leafs game... the reality with liljegren... hes not enough good to play in offensive situation like Pp... hes now good enough defensivly to play a big role on PK... hes not bringing enough to play in a top 4 on daily basis.
He didn't get pp time because he dont see the play at all offensivly... maybe hes got a better shot But everytime leafs used him on pp and he touched the puck, nothing never happening and play being dead... only having an average shot in pp and no vision, you
will never be a pp dmen...
Why keefe used Holl more, because he was able to trust him in specific defensive situation... he was the best leafs D in pk, he was the 1st d sent in on the ice at the end of a game to protect a lead... so most more difficult to bench than the player whos only giving you between 15 to 20 min at even strenght and thats it.

Andreas Johnsson signed by Pittsburgh for one year at $800k is a decent low risk signing.
It is like he only knows about 80 players. His circle is smaller than the dinosaur GMs.
In addition, i learned today that Andreas Johnsson was still in the NHL.
Dubas is welcome to call for Murray.
No doubt his goalie geniusosity has recognized that a Jarry-Murray goalie tandem is All-Universe and truly one for the ages!
Pick up the phone Kyle! I will have Murray in Pittsburgh by 2:00 AM tonight!
I can't say I'm all that concerned about the defense

That's a reasonably well rounded unit and we can add at the TDL if we think something is lacking

I hate to say it, but if we've got to move on from Nylander, Pesce + TT is a pretty good package, though I imagine that we'd have to give a nice + to that...
Pesce is asking for $6.5 mil extension, but if you can do $6 mil with term, that's a player that should compliment Rielly very well, at a high level. TT has been up and down, and I have no idea what an extension on him looks like, if it's a raise, or not.
Then you'd have to move Brodie and Murray out. Brodie is a positive asset, so I imagine someone would love to have him. Murray might be tougher.
Maybe you just do Nylander + Brodie for Pesce + TT?

Nylander has more value and is a more proven elite scorer.

We probably move Brodie to them as well… both teams get replacement players at those positions at least for this year.
