If Brodie gets traded to fit in Klingberg I won't be too happy....
I'd be very surprised if Brodie were traded.I've been expecting a Brodie trade since Treliving's first day (he said he wanted to remake the D, also only mentioned Bio when asked about former Flames). And a case can be made it could be worth moving on given his contract status.
Problem is I'd be concerned that there's a likely chance his eventual replacement will likely be a worse player. Maybe Treliving will try and entice Dumba
I know wild was in on some trades with us… so I’m curious to see if he is available.Brodin if you consider 29 young, Braden Schneider on NYR
I personally don’t think Brodie will be traded tbh. It would be a very rough for us if we do trade him and put in Dumba instead.I've been expecting a Brodie trade since Treliving's first day (he said he wanted to remake the D, also only mentioned Bio when asked about former Flames). IMO Klingberg replaces Holl. If Brodie is traded, somebody will be brought in to replace him. If that somebody is Pesche will you not be happy ?If Brodie gets traded to fit in Klingberg I won't be too happy....
Sure I guess an increase in offense but defensively not much.IMO Klingberg replaces Holl. If Brodie is traded, somebody will be brought in to replace him. If that somebody is Pesche will you not be happy ?
Given his age, cap hit, what Tre said about wanting to change the makeup of the D, I'd say after Nylander, Brodie is the most likely roster player to be traded.I'd be very surprised if Brodie were traded.
Klingberg and Holl are very very different players but if they are able to get Pesce it would definitely soften the blow of trading Brodie. However at that point I think I'd rather have just gone with Pesce + Brodie vs Pesce + KlingbergIMO Klingberg replaces Holl. If Brodie is traded, somebody will be brought in to replace him. They definitely should be part of the conversation but not the entire conversation and the limitations should be understood moreYeach but they need to be
Yeah but they need to be part of the conversation. Especially when characters merely use goals as a measurement
You’d be asking John to take a big cut, which I honestly think he would. You’d have to set up the signing of McDavid by having previously money-hungry guys take nice deals to make it happen. That starts with Matthews this summer, and we see where it goes from there. If the cap rises like it should, we may be able to finesse itI would be thrilled to have McDavid, Matthews, Tavares and Kampf as our centres in 3 years.
A 5 year contract for #34 would work well. Cap would be interesting to make it work.

By who exactly. People don't even understand defensive contributions around here. Bergeron would have been a bum.Klingberg and Holl are very very different players but if they are able to get Pesce it would definitely soften the blow of trading Brodie. Thousands of trade proposals to make our defense "better" involving Nylander out there coupled with a need to move out our two best defensive defensemen (Brodie/Liljegren) to fit players who are bigger / hit more that are much worse defensively.I'd be very surprised if Brodie were traded.
Touched base that much is certain. Tre has been linked to him a lot in the past though. Is Dumba linked to us?
PSA: Dumba kinda sucks (unless he's taking a pretty massive pay cut).
I wish Calgary wasn’t petty about trading with Treliving. Think Zadorov would be a real good add for us.
It'd be tough getting rid of Nylander and not getting at least one guy back who can put the puck in the net a bit. Not sure what type of package they'd do but I wouldn't be entirely against that type of trade. You could flip some assets from that trade for a d man who has less of a cap hit etc.Unless you trade Willie for players on ELCs and/or picks you are not getting much cap relief moving him alone IMO.
I remember seeing somewhere... I think friedman maybe (one of the insiders) said they tried to get him but couldn't make it work.Is Dumba linked to us?
People on these forums and the internet in general use a lot of regression based stats without the knowledge of the limitations of those stats.By who exactly. People don't even understand defensive contributions around here. Bergeron would have been a bum.
Calgary Board of Governors is wary of Tre....hence the Draft table crap. Tre being there for a long time knows the ins and out of the franchise and value etc... which intimidates them essentially.I would think he’d have to be at this point unless he’s fine going to a team that isn’t any good
I’d be surprised if Calgary had anything particularly against dealing with Treliving. Where is this comment coming from?

It kind of feels likes Tre is betting on Keefe being god tier coach to renew a lot of these signings to become defensively responsible. That... to me is worrisome. At the moment it just seems like signing
Klingberg as a Holl replacement appears to be less than what Treliving himself implied/suggested was going to happen to the D. So id wager at least one more larger move will be happening. Either a Gio retirement/replacement or a Brodie/Lily/Timmins trade seems to be what will eventually happen
He can be useful with the right usage based on his time with the Wild. Issue is his biggest impact is offensive more so than defensive and Klingberg seems to have that covered. But I think Tre has been linked to him in the past, so who knows
It certainly wouldn't make much sense as they fill vastly different roles. If Brodie gets traded to fit in Klingberg I won't be too happy....
