New GM, New Trades and Signings Thread

Trade Nylander+Murray to a team like the Red Wings who have cap for a top D prospect (Edvinsson) / futures. Gotta dump Murray too but I think that can somehow work on the cap assuming Bertuzzi+ROR come in around same cap as Willy+Murray. Dream world lol.
 
I just don't see Nylander having that type of value, asking for a top young piece +. I think you have to look for a hockey trade if there is one

Maybe Minny for someone like Spurgeon?

At this point i'd keep him, see how he performs next year, if he doesn't pace last season then hopefully get the price down if not he'll have more value at trade deadline
 
With the recent buyouts and some interesting non qualified guys this year’s free agency has got a bit more interested.
There really aren’t any guys I’d want on long term deals but if some of them want to sign cheap short cheap deals they could be good.

I wonder why Nashville didn't just retain 50% of that Duchene contract since it's only 3 years left and get something in return. So many teams would take his scoring for 4 mil.

Maybe that speaks to the reason he is being bought out? Not the first time he was moved for issues.

Garland for Timmins
Foegele for Lafferty
Driedger for Future Considerations
Drew O'Connor for Holmberg
Niederreiter, Harkins for Brodie, Jarnkrok

Canes need a goal scorer and have lots of cap space and nice pieces to offer. I can see them being a good trade partner if they are willing to pay Willie his ask.

Idk.. after seeing how bad Zack MacEwen was maybe they have a change of heart. :cry:

He's definitely better than NAK. Fischer is much stronger and a lot more capable offensively, albeit he's definitely a bottom line player. He just has to stay healthy. But you always seem to think every player is weak one way or another or they aren't that good...

With Shane Doan with the Leafs, and Trelivings connection to Arizona, I think there's probably a good chance they check in on Fischer. He's only 26 years old as well and has been part of god awful Arizona teams. It would be a good gamble to see how good he can be on a better team.

Christian Fischer is good friends with Auston Matthews.

He's got a pretty good shot and is a big body, not much of a distributor.

He’s a lot better than NAK defensively and can kill penalties quite well. He’d be a perfect fit with Kampf in a shutdown role. I’m all in for this move.

Well maybe this time. I know you have wanted him back for a while.
His play has dropped off a bit but by all reports he has been a great mentor for the Marlies prospects.

A couple guys with size who aren’t afraid to push back when games get rough. We definitely don’t have enough of that and it’s something you can’t teach.
They both have some warts but maybe our system could hide some of them.
