I don't understand why the Rangers are among the teams being pitched in here. It makes no sense to me. Can someone explain that one?
They have assets we like and it's understood that these are just fantasy trade proposals for entertainment.

I would have put signing Sammy ahead of overpaying Kampf. He could have made a trade or traded down at the draft. Murray is still a Leaf.

As I said, the weekend should paint a better picture.

Oh yeah, they need to move on from Wes Clark IMO. As Bukala said in an interview, he values small, skilled players. I've seen enough of this guy.

Murray will be a leaf, probably because they dont' have a contract with Sammy
They dont' potentially want to lose both and I think Sammy's side is dragging it and want multi year contract

To be honest though, I don't mind the Easton draft. He's a bit off chart, but he has some grit and skill
Other players were available only had skill, we have few of those in our system already. He does bring something different

Also he's been a great riser

Kampf, yeah. Not sure how I feel about that. Decent player but you look around the league with winning teams and their 4th line. we don't stack up well

I actually love that we kept our 1st and used it.

Really hope the mass exodus of prospects and picks has finally come to an end.

If we want depth now, we need to be like Boston, Vegas, Colorado etc - we need to be willing to part with good players to build a better, more balanced team.

I'd prefer to move Tavares or Marner over Nylander, but if Willy wants more than Meier, move him out. f*** that attitude.
Last year they moved their first because the guy they wanted there was taken in the second. If Cowan was their man, there is no reason they should not have traded down for two seconds or a second and a third and grabbed him there. He was sitting in the nose bleeds at the draft for a reason. Missed opportunity IMO but I do like what I have heard about the kid and think he has potential playing on a Hunter coached team.

I like him more after hearing from him at the draft. He does seem like someone with a high level of focus on the details. His seriousness is a wee bit off-putting.

Many feel they need more of a scoring threat come playoff time.

They just don't have the cap space long-term and they have a lot of forwards locked up. I don't see it.

The last part I'm fully aware. Not sure their assets are all that great but we all have different opinions as to what would be good returns and what makes sense for both parties. Not sure the Rangers have much interest in dismantling their defensive depth by all accounts.

Crickets on the Sammy front makes agree. I think he wants to be paid.

I like Cowan but if he could have been picked up later, trading down made more sense, given Dubas left us with 3 picks.

I really hope they find a way to keep Nylander. I truly believe 8 x 8.88 is a perfectly reasonable deal from both sides and they can come to their senses and get it done.

If the 2 sides can't figure this out, I genuinely wonder if that's what opens the door to a 3 way deal the acquire Erik Karlsson. I'm sold on acquiring him (although I don't want acquiring him to come at the cost of Nylander).

To Toronto: Karlsson @ $9ish

To San Jose: Picks/Prospects from 3rd team

To 3rd team: Nylander

Again it's not how I want it to go down, but with Tre's past contractual traumas I wouldn't be shocked if this is the path he takes. It does make the team more talented albeit at the risk of age & injury being much larger factors.

Please just figure out a contract guys...

If Karlsson isn't coming in at 50%, I don't have interest. Too many years left.

I guess it’s how you look at it. It’s a lot to pay a pure 4th liner, far too much for a guy who gets 4th line minutes.

But Kampf had the 6th most minutes last year of our full time forwards. His usage is far more than labelling him a 4th liner, and he was far more important than your typical 4th liner.

He had top 3rd line minutes, used very much in a defensive role and PK. He’s an important piece and the pay reflects that.

Apparently the Leafs had intel that he was high on other team's lists, so they probably didn't think they could move down. Pretty sure Tre also said there wasn't a lot of move down opportunities in the early rounds cause the draft was so strong.

If Ana want Nylander. I won't mind doing a Max Jones and a Drydale For Nylander (sign and trade). Then sign one of Zucker or Tatar.

Anaheim is going the long rebuild route. Not sure they'd have any interest in Nylander. But if they did have interest, I sure as hell would want a whole lot better.

Max Jones sucks quite a bit. He's the most average player ever. I don't know why anyone would have interest in him in a package back for Nylander.

Drysdale has had a rough adjustment to the NHL so far, but I loved his game in Junior and still think there's potential there. Only 8 NHL games last year... so I would say his value is really not all that great right now.

Personally I don't think that's enough value. Drysdale is still pretty green and Max Jones isn't worth a whole lot, IMO. We need some definitive, established pieces if we're going to move him.

I'll be extremely happy when tomorrow comes and goes and Kerfoot and Holl have signed elsewhere. They haven't been bad mid-tier players here, but they've worn out their welcome. A multi year deal for either of them to stay in Toronto would be soul crushing.

All I would be happy about would be that people would stop whining about them and find a new person to whine about.

I agree. I want us to move in a different direction.

The reality is that in order to hit homeruns, you gotta be willing to take on a lot of risk in "underappreciated/developed" players. Drysdale for me fits that bill. I would be ok with him being a main piece in a Nylander deal.

I would be 100% on board with a soft retool over the next 2 years to run down Tavares' contract while accumulating some ELCs for another run in 2025 or 2026.

The whole "going for it" era has been a disaster. Lou left us with nothing, and I thought Dubas would be different, but he got a little too comfortable trading picks and prospects for rentals in the last 3 years.

I thought Drysdale and Bouchard were similar players, is the difference that one landed on Edmonton and one landed in Anaheim?

I do think that's a large part of it. Drysdale is a better skater, but Bouchard has a cannon and better vision.

Drysdale would develop into a 1st pairing guy here, imo. I think he can be a poor man's Theodore long term.
