Trade him to Nash for Fabbro, Novak and Askarov
Nashville is an interesting spot because they have interesting trade pieces but they appear to be going for a rebuild. I don't know why they would want Nylander for a year. I could see him re-signing there and for less than Josi. Tennessee has no state income tax.

There aren’t many good fits for Nylander where he might actually RE-sign. I wouldn’t be shocked if NYR are a fit. I could see some combination of Laf, Miller, Schneider, Othmann. I could also see Tre willing to take Goodrow back to increase the return.
I love Miller. That’s the deal for me, Miller + picks. I think NYR is a good fit and he will be a bonafide #1

A sign and trade is more likely the scenario with him
If you can sign him to 10 million for 8 years. Then you can send him to a team that will need a guranteed contract

A team like Calgary. They have a lot of players want out and expiring contracts

I’ve been prepping for an underwhelming return. I am hoping we do a swap for an expiring deal which fits a hole and we can re up for cheaper next year.

Its very clear how valuable cap space is. I still wonder if a Nylander Schiefele swap is possible. Winnipeg could try and sign him long term or ship him out at the TDL for a boatload.
I bet Willy has Winnipeg at the top of his MNT list.

problem is he's not worth 10 million.....so you sign him to what he wants or don't sign and either way his value is reduced
that's why i was suggesting deadline deal as at least it would improve his value a bit for teams going for it. He's got a manageable cap hit, add scoring and has scored big playoff goals in the past....problem with that is Leafs are going for it too...good times :)

He's not worth 10 million. Neither is Nurse. They are paid premium for the cities they play in
Western Canada is not exactly very appealing other than Vancouver

Right now nobody wants to play for Calgary. You give him the contract with a trade already in place
Calgary will give him 10 million to lock him for 8 years. He's still a 40 goal scorer and calgary just lost few of those

So far, not impressed with what I have seen from Tre. The weekend should paint a better picture of what this guy can do. If he is following orders from Shanny, I am expecting another early playoff exit.

Respectfully, what did you expect him to do by now? I agree with you that this weekend is huge, but what were you expecting him to have done the last few weeks? He has to let the AM/WN contract situation play out.

Not that I wouldn't want Miller on this team, but holy f*** the casual fans who don't know who he is would lose their minds if he was the main piece back for Nylander.
I don't even think Rangers would move him at this point. He was just starting to take that next step last year and he adds something different compared to their other D.

I actually love that we kept our 1st and used it.

Really hope the mass exodus of prospects and picks has finally come to an end.

If we want depth now, we need to be like Boston, Vegas, Colorado etc - we need to be willing to part with good players to build a better, more balanced team.

I'd prefer to move Tavares or Marner over Nylander, but if Willy wants more than Meier, move him out. f*** that attitude.

Already having Mitch Marner, Patrick Kane is a redundancy. I've already stated that Marner and Karlsson on the same power play makes little sense as well. Neither Marner nor Karlsson would be comfortable playing the left side on the power play.

I would have put signing Sammy ahead of overpaying Kampf. He could have made a trade or traded down at the draft. Murray is still a Leaf.

As I said, the weekend should paint a better picture.

Oh yeah, they need to move on from Wes Clark IMO. As Bukala said in an interview, he values small, skilled players. I've seen enough of this guy.

The Rangers did just move a bunch of assets for Kane and Tarasenko at the deadline for increased scoring. Wouldn't it make sense to re-sign one of them instead of shelling out more premium pieces for similar style of player?
