Maybe a hockey trade, Jarncrok for Peeke. Each 3 years left, similiar cap hits. Jarncrok was originally a Detroit pick and very much a versatile, hardworking, defensively mindful Babcock type.

He definitely seems like a Babcock type player. Though he was also traded for by Treliving in Calgary. So he may want to keep him

I'm more and more convinced that the Nylander extension negotiation will go off the rails very quickly and we're going to see him traded by the TDL.

Personally I don't think the issue will be the negotiations themselves - which i suspect will be straight forward - Nylander's side will want 8 years of term and will have a firm ask on the aav..Leafs will just need to think if they want to pay the man or not

Columbus has an interesting collection of young quality players, picks, with some core players that they may look to win now.

Nylander might be appealing, particularly if there’s an extension in place.

Could be a deal around there

They are shaping up pretty nicely. Could it be that Gaudreau made the right decision?

Man, that Murray contract is so spicy.

Would be nice to pick in the first round but it definitely seems like the only way were moving out that contract is moving down again into a later round doesn't it?

Sucks.

What really sucks is he'd owed the most cash in his final year, Ottawa deferring their payments unlike what we usually do. So he's not going to be very appealing to the Arizonas of the league.

I don't think Lewis Gross will even want to talk numbers until Matthews signs his extension. Nylander signed first last time around and ended up making $4M a year less than Matthews/Marner.

Wow Colombus has a lot of RHD with Severson Gudbranson Peeke Boqvist and Jiricek.

Is Peeke a good fit for us? Is he top pair level?

I feel like they will trade Boqvist. They will also probably try to dump Gudbranson but with that contract, it'll be pretty hard.

Peeke just re-signed with them. I don't think they plan on trading him.

Peeke also had the highest % of starts in the Dzone and least amount in the Ozone on a truly horrific hockey team.

There was actually only 5 defensemen in the NHL who started more % of their zone starts in the Dzone 5v5 1000+ minutes played

I would take some of his advanced stats with a grain of salt.

Their need is at the C position... unless they truly believe Nylander is a top line C, there is no deal to be had there. They really don't need more wingers.

They really aren't looking for forwards though... I think it would have to be picks... wouldn't be high either.

Wonder if a d-man shakes loose out of columbus

Provorov-Severson
Werenski-Peeke
Bean-Gudbranson
Boqvist
Jiricek

That word has a meaning, and it's not what you're using it for
Actually he did use it correctly if you go by the websters definition...

"the technique or practice of responding to an accusation or difficult question by making a counter accusation or raising a different issue".

Absolutely do this in a heartbeat.

I think Peeke's performance on a bad team definitely merits consideration and how he potentially can do on a better team.

I like Jarncrok, but he showed that unless he played Top 6, his contributions were significantly impacted. Played well with Matthews, but I think Peeke is the harder to find player for us.

Sounds like a player worth keeping, especially with how few forwards are a signed.
I would love to unload Jarnkrok, personally. If our top 4 forwards are going to be soft, we can't have a baby soft Jarnkrok out there. Him, Kerfoot, Kampf, Lafferty that's where we need some meat and potatoes.

Ahkshually...

Again, no.
Firstly, 56 didn't make an accusation or pose a difficult question, they asserted that after 7 years players (referring to Matthews) are what they are, implying that it's a foregone conclusion that Matthews will never succeed in the playoffs in Toronto

Secondly, the multiple posters did not make a counter accusation or raise a different issue. They directly refuted 56's assertion by providing numerous examples to the contrary, players that did not have playoff success in their first 7 years but did later in their careers

To which 56 had a tantrum and tried to shut down the conversation that was going against him/her by crying wolf and throwing the name of a fallacy that didn't apply at the wall.

None of this has anything to with trades, Matthews, or the Leafs though.
