He does use his team, but there is nothing wrong with trying to do something on your own. He recognizes danger now and knows when to pass and when he can dangle and make a move. He has the skill and talent of stick handling, nothing wrong with showing it. Its part of his creativity. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. The only difference is that before it used to work less and harm more, whereas its the opposite now.

He plays same way that Grabo did when he played for Montreal and Grabo was traded.Grabovski played the same way with the Leafs at first and eventually woke up and began to play a more team oriented way under RW.Grabovski is the person Kadri needs to talk with and find out what caused him to change.

Kadri can/will be an effective player,I just hope he comes around before it's Grabovski part II.

I'm boycotting if Kadri isn't starting with the team.

I'm sure it will really hurt the Leafs financially, and it will help me feel better not witnessing this frustrating mis/overmanagement.

Kadri played like montreal-grabo in his draft year and the year after. He's changed tremendously. He plays more like the grabo now instead of the montreal grabo.

Cybulski made himself look like a fool, by trying to get Kadri to spit out something, that could cause a controversy. He attempted it more that a couple of times. Wow Cybulski that was low.....

I could be mistaken in my assessment of him as I have not seen him play since November.I hope you're right,he does have potential.

The problem is that we don't need another forward who thinks his only job is in the offensive zone, and I think that is what worries the guys calling the shots for the Leafs. You have to play every shift and every zone 110% or you will not be successful.

Been watching the leafs for 20 years. If kadri does not play this year I will no longer support the team. The way he has been scrutanized is crazy. Where as other worse players have had a free pass.

Everyone can now relax. My thoughts about Kadri coming up after the next Connolly injury were mistaken, Now they will need another centre in 2 weeks when Connolly breaks a leg. :D

Like MacArthur... Kadri gets riped apart for D yet Mac is just as useless defensively as Kessel is especially with the simple task of getting the damn puck out past the blue line on the wall and nobody but a few seem to notice. How about turnovers have people noticed the turnovers Mac gives away right on the tape passes to the opposition? Or the very fact he's a passenger to Grabo when Grabo go's so does Mac on the score sheet and this is the guy that holds the roster spot that Kadri should be playing?

Don't get it one bit. Kadri's defensive game has been glorified to being worst than it is, in fact most of the negativity that gets thrown his way are flat out lies like his compete level. This Kid is competitive by nature. His main issue was turnovers in the neutral zone recognizing when to dump it in and when to carry the puck that has been fixed 2 years ago not his defensive game yet he gets held to a completely different standard that has irked Don Cherry.

Might be the only time I agree with Don Cherry LOL but he's right Kadri hasn't been handled right and it's due to roster spots don't get cleared for him to grow and develop in the NHL the way all teams do that aren't Stanley cup contenders with there NHL ready youth.

You think if this was Edmonton they would have Kadri in the AHL to play the likes of MacArthur and Lombardi? Are Hall, Eberle or RNH defensive stand outs to be playing and playing lots at the NHL level?

If Kadri isn't a full time Leaf this year there's something wrong with the Leaf brass and if I were him I would ask to be traded.

Yeah, to me, the defensive nitpicks against Kadri are a little too much, as are the accusations about compete level. We saw what all the softie passengers did on the Leafs during their collapse. Kadri has a bit of fire to him and is a little dirty in the best possible way.

I saw a game against Grand Rapids this year when I think Fraser hammered a guy on the side boards, he got up and Kadri threw a thundering Darcy Tucker hit (perfectly clean but suspect timing) on the same guy just as he was getting up again. Rung his bell. This drew a Griffin player to take a roughing penalty against Kadri, and he promptly scored on the power play. That's the kind of gritty pest finesse player we need more of. He started **** and he finished it.

I only have one pet peeve with Burke and that's he failed to clear roster spots to allow his NHL ready youth to compete and earn a roster spot. Guaranteed contracts doesn't allow coaches to treat this word "EARN" to it's full meaning both Kadri and Frattin were sent down when they didn't deserve to but because they could be sent down without clearing wavers they were casualties of a numbers game that shouldn't have been the case at all.

Who did Gardiner beat out to make the NHL last season? It came at the cost of Aullie a player they can use right now and should have had a lock job coming into last season that they traded away cause they had no room for him and were going to lose on wavers this year... Why have him in that situation? They're repeating this mistake with Kadri which is stupid and pointless. Why did they trade for Franson if they weren't going to commit to him? What's going to happen with Rielly are they going to clear a roster spot for him next season to earn or are they going to put a guaranteed contract in front of him?

You don't put road blocks in front of your top prospects who have the potential to be significant players in the NHL, you clear roster spots for them to beat out other youngsters in the organization for that job and you surround them with quality players to help insulate them that's how you develop highly skilled players. You don't try to change there game, you don't glorify what they need to improve on to the media.

I want to see Kadri paired with JVR, Lupul or Kulemin not Connoly, Mac or Lombardi and some commitment from this organization if we're going to believe Nonis about youth being valuable to this organization other wise it's more of the same filth why it go's nowhere and why they can't develop players.

This is a very good post. Signing these uneccessary UFA's blocks roster spots for young players. You're right, it's too bad we lost Aulie. It might come back to haunt us.

Kadri has not been given a fair chance at all.

They irk me a little bit too, but I think part of it was Carlyle just stating the obvious, after a first period with 3 goals, his 2nd and 3rd periods weren't as good, obviously. The comment did seem a bit Wilsonish though.

Carlyle seems to have a bit of a know it all condescension towards the media too that is reminiscent of Wilson.

So I'm sure this has been asked, but is it on iTunes or anything? I see they posted Hour 1 and 3 today, and based on the descriptions it seems like Kadri was on hour 2.

Oh everything he said was true. It's just the way he said it.

"Had a pretty good first period, 3 goals." (mutters 3 powerplay goals). Then gives him some credit.

"His 2nd and 3rd weren't as effective." Of course they weren't.

And even if he didn't have a great 2nd a 3rd, does it really have to be said? If it's a real game, he's easily the 1st star.

Luckily, Naz seems to let this roll right down his back. Maybe that's why they talk about him to the public like that.

Totally agree with this. Only reason I can think of as to why management keeps knocking him down a couple pegs is to prevent his head from getting too big. Naz can come off as a bit brash/arrogant at times but as long as he works hard and is a good teammate, I couldn't give a ****.

I thought he was ready last season. Better make this lineup this year ahead of Connolly/Mac.

Frattin should also make the team but chances are one of them (Frattin/Kadri) gets cut. :shakehead
