I like Fluharty. His stuff grades out well too. Wouldn't surprise me to see him up early.

The Jays 40 already has Manoah and Bastardo on the 60-day and Lovelady on the roster, so they need to make room for Straw, Roden, and Barnes.
DFAing Nance is an easy call. I guess it's possible Burr or Swanson could go to the 60. Otherwise I guess it'll be someone like Pop or Robertson. Maybe both, but I kind of expect them to DFA Berroa at this point considering the depth they have in the OF. Would they be willing to DFA two more pitchers to make room for the two OF?

Thanks. Years go by fast. Didn't realize he only had 1 year of arb left. While not allowed it wouldn't be the first time a deal was reported by just tacking on the year in progress. His current deal is 4.6, so if he signed a 4 year 53.4 million contract and it somehow got reported including the current year or something. I think that's happened before.
I'm rather surprised Roden made the team, and much more surprised Barger didn't. They've both raked. Feels weird to reward the guy who hasn't played a MLB game and not the guy who had a chunk of time here last year. Guess they don't see the playing time for Barger. Roden for sure deserves it, but he isn't on enough top 100 lists to reward us with a pick if he wins rookie of year(stupid rule) so I figured they've find enough justification to keep him down until Springer is benched and get the extra year. Lukes probably deserves a shot somewhere at some point but I would have preffered Barger.
Annoyed they're dumping Nance to keep Lovelady and Barnes. I thought the injuries to Swanson and Burr left a pretty clear path for Nance to stay. Would have also kept Yarborough but not that concerned about that decision.
Manoah and Bastardo already got Lovelady on the 40 man.
3 others need dfa or 60 day. Nance is a likely dfa.
Depending on health, Pop for Burr could go 60 day.
Other options include Berroa and Jimenez.
I don’t like DFAing homegrown sign and develops in favor of fungible arms.
I guess Pop is on the IL to start? Not sure how that effects his status.
Would rather just keep Berroa.
Honestly, they are likely going to DFA someone like Berroa now (unlikely to be claimed) and possibly one of Lukes/Straw in a week or do.

I would too, I just think teams usually like having as many healthy arms as possible on the 40-man. You already have Swanson, Burr, Pop, and Macko on the 40-man but injured, and if none of them goes to the 60-day you're (relatively) limited in your options.
I'm with you though.
The Jays have 9 OF on the 40 man and 2 more guys who play OF. That's too many.

I am fairly confident the Jays will have a good year. They are in a tough division but the division lacks a clear front runner IMO. O's lost a few key pieces. The Yankees lost Soto and have injuries. The Red Sox are intriguing. I don't think the Rays will be that good but never underestimate them.
I think the Jays will miss the playoffs by about 3 games but will have a solid year

Overall, I think a change in hitting coaches will give a big boost to the team.
I am more nervous about the pitching just due to the age. Scherzer is up there and has had thumb problems. Gausman and Bassitt are up there. If the veterans do well I think the Jays have potential at the division lead. Even if the pitching holds until July then there is potential for a trade, Manoah is back, and Bloss hopefully has had a good season in AAA.
A few months ago I was bummed about the season but now I am cautiously optimistic.
Will be interesting to see where the minor league players get assigned to. The farm system has some potential to improve a decent amount if players take a leap.

Yarbrough isn't all that good as pointed out. Savant page screams "this dude is lucky he didn't get beat up more"

The Gate 14 guys (they've hit on Jays news before and know guys on the team like Clement and Schneider) said on their pod today that Berroa, Robertson, Easton Lucas and Josh Walker are DFA candidates for Roden and Straw.
I had considered that it could be Walker, but he would surprise me because they just signed him as a free agent, while Robertson and Lucas were both waiver claims.

I honestly have no idea which way the division will go. It could go many different ways. I am not going to make a prediction. At the end of the day, I just hope the Jays are in the playoffs. If they are in it, I hope they go all in for an impact bat at the deadline. Just make the playoffs, and then win a game. That's all I want. I think just having a meaningful September shouldn't be good enough. Make the playoffs, win a game or make an exciting run.

Walker signed a split contract like Jay Jackson with a different majors/minors salary. I wouldn't say that's a significant enough FA signing where you would consider him a safe 40-man guy.
Lucas also has 2 option years remaining and is bulk IP depth, while Walker is a lefty with only 1 option year remaining.
I think Berroa and Robertson are the 2 most likely though. Robertson is a waiver claim with only 1 option year remaining, and to me Berroa is the OF version of Luis De Los Santos (both being non-prospects that you wouldn't really care to lose IMO). He's also very redundant now with Clase and Straw both being ahead of him on the 40-man.

Great move Atkins. Strengthen the opposition with a cut that would have made our team better had he been kept. He and Barger should be on opening day roster. Not sure what players like Schneider or other BP pieces have done to warrant a spot over them.
I really hope this doesnt bite us in the ass.

What I do not get is that the Jays have an over saturated INF and set of bullpen pieces. Why didnt they trade something for another power bat, Players like Schneider, Wagner, Clement and others definitely could have fetched something. I thought for sure they would have made a trade prior to start of season.
Instead we get the entire set on our bench which is overkill while still having a gap in our everyday lineup.
