What This Means for You:
Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.
In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord ServerIf you think he's a tub of lard now, just wait now that he's secured the bag. He's gonna eat his way out of the league soon.Decent deal for Fatty. Hope his knees hold up!
Lukes is out of options.Lukes and Barger surprise me. Although, I think Barger gets more reps at AAA.
I'm kind of surprised (in a good way) that they gave Roden a spot instead of just keeping him in AAA for a bit.Lukes and Barger surprise me. Although, I think Barger gets more reps at AAA.
Pretty sure Lukes has an option left.Lukes is out of options.
I could see a deal happening if they like Straw as 4th OF. Otherwise, Straw goes down when Varsho comes back (he also has options).
I would have kept Barger either way as another IF.
The only way this makes sense to me is if you want to rotate Santander - Straw - Soringer outfield (Wagner DH) with Roden - Lukes - Springer/Santander (with the other RF DHing)
Lukes still has 1 option year left per Fangraphs.Lukes is out of options.
On a recent At The Letters pod, Arden Zwelling outlined a scenario where if the Jays play 7 games in 7 days, Santander would play less than 5 of those games in the field (implying a minimum 3 DH games). It seems like Santander is going to DH a lot for this team. The only way this makes sense to me is if you want to rotate Santander - Straw - Soringer outfield (Wagner DH) with Roden - Lukes - Springer/Santander (with the other RF DHing)
Maybe Lukes/Straw make a CF platoon for a bit?I'm kind of surprised (in a good way) that they gave Roden a spot instead of just keeping him in AAA for a bit.
I don't really get keeping Lukes and Straw though... I think the roster is clearly better with one of them plus Barger. You're right about playing time, though... It's already gonna be tough to find time for everyone who needs it, so there probably wouldn't be much for Barger anyway.
Shi reported that the Jays won't be adding Yarbrough after Arden tweeted this, so 1 cut left in the bullpen between Nance/Lovelady/Barnes.
Considering Schneider said he wants 2 LHPs in the bullpen, Little and Lovelady are probably locked in as the 2 LHPs, which likely means either Nance or Barnes gets the last spot. Barnes also has an opt-out, while Nance is out of options.
Now they just have to clear 2 spots on the 40-man for Roden and Straw, since an out of options Nance will already have to be DFA to make room for Barnes.Schneider just confirmed on the broadcast that Lovelady and Barnes are getting the last two spots.
Fwiw, Yarborough's success is partially smoke and mirrors. There is a real path to Lovelady being an objectively good reliever.Cutting Yarbrough to keep Lovelady and Barnes seems like something that will come back to bite the team in the butt.
I have no problem losing Yarborough.Fwiw, Yarborough's success is partially smoke and mirrors. There is a real path to Lovelady being an objectively good reliever.
