Dave Lowry seems to make sense. The one thing I would need to know is if he shares Maurice's view about being overtly loyal to vets. Last thing we need is a "same shite, different pile" type of coach. If he does ,we might as well keep Maurice at that point.

Well he's never coached vets per say as a head coach. He's just coached a bunch of.kids as a CHL head coach.

Randy might make a good President of Hockey Ops to act as a buffer between Chipman and Chevy.
Had to follow the chain for a while upward as for some reason my first thought was that Randy Gilhen would be a bold choice...

I mean, he’s a big buffer…

Wouldn’t mind a rejig of upper management, and a prez of hockey ops, but not sure I’d want yet another member of the OBC in that role.

He has done a little coaching and is still involved with the Jets, but he isn't getting back into coaching. Seems like an awesome dude.

Even CHL teams have their trusted vets. The difference is that there they have 2 years under their belts, or even only 1, instead of 5-15.

We see it everywhere, it is a human nature thing. Coaches develop certain biases, pro and con, toward players and favour the ones they have developed a level of trust in. Whether that trust is deserved or not makes no difference.

Better coaches adjust those biases and perceptions as the players and the situations evolve, worse ones keep going back to something that worked once upon a time. The trouble with Maurice is that he seems to be in that latter group. It is individual players, line/pairing combinations, systems and tactics.

IMO, he is out of ideas. He just seems to thrash around wildly looking for something to work. CSW seemed to work at one time so he stuck with it for years before finally moving on this year. As usual, the change was forced. This time by Covid instead of injury, but not by him. Now he has gone back to it. It appeared to work for 1 game. How long will that 1 game have him thinking it is a good combination?

Everybody and his dog can see what an abomination it is - except Maurice. KFC not only scored the 2 goals in that game, but he did most of the work too. But Scheifele and Wheeler got 1 and 2 assists so the line had 5 points. Must be a good combination, right? Chemistry!

This idea of getting more upper management seems to be a fallback/default solution proposal from many people. Is it taught in MBA 101? I generally dislike the concept. More management just leads to less responsibility, more useless activity. The effect of any one individual gets diluted. CYA propagates and mediocrity gets rewarded and promoted.

There are circumstances where there is an obvious need, such as the Laffs with their corporate ownership. They need someone to be in charge between the GM and a corporate committee. I don't see anything with the Jets structure to suggest that another level of boss over Chevy is needed. We need a new coach. We need the boss we have, Chevy, to figure that out and take action.

And Sutter has Monihan playing 4th line minutes.

He is playing a player in a position based on the results they are generating, not their salary (6m per year).
Not advocating Schieffle on the 4th line, but the Flames are winning.
agreed. the flames top line has been dynamite w/o Monahan this year. just wanted to see if we were on the same page.

idk if this applies to scheifele or wheeler more though.

Neither do I. But I like the thinking. And as I said it seems to be generating positive results for them.

I like Randy Kitty Carlyle to replace Paul Maurice while Mike Babcock might be interested, he won’t coach for $2M annually.

Should impatient Sweet Lou fires Barry Trotz (9 game losing streak with the Isles), Trotz can come home to Manitoba.

Bruce Boudreau is a good candidate also.

Trotz I would be very interested in.

Bruce Boudreau not really, Habs fans roasted him for the exact same thing PMO does.

I would not like either of those options. I think a lot of the available options out there are pretty blah right now. I certainly think the time to move on from Maurice is now, but I don't think we need to hamstring the franchise any further by bringing in coaches for whom the game has passed them by.

Yeah no interest either

Don't anyone take this as me defending PMO, I've said it very clearly many times I would like to see a change of the HC (I just don't say it 20 times per day)..........but what I find so disappointing regarding the HC availability out there from year to year is that there is so few guys who I actually believe could do a significantly better job then PMO its sad. So many old retreds out there who are exactly the same as PMO just with a slightly different media style & personality but the same old school beliefs. I just find it very hard to get excited about any potential HC change when all the options are so disappointing as well. Trotz is the only get who gets me excited as a HC.........the rest of them are just meh or total shots in the dark with a high probability of failure. Ugh
