Absolutely not. Dinosaur who uses dinosaur motivational techniques.

I see no reason for this other than familiarity with the city.

I doubt Quenneville ever returns.

I agree with you on most of that....but I'm not so sure I'm prepared to entirely blame Babcock for the Marner situation. I think he tried to get creative and did something stupid.

It's not just the Marner incident. Other players on other teams have also commented about him and how he handles his players.

Ya can't dispute that. I personally like him as a coach, but there have been a ton of red flags. One of the biggest for me was listening to his takes on Bell let's talk day, where he did a few media spots, then at some point after doing these pieces for a few years he comes out and says he's never been depressed and never even known anyone with depression? Say what? He's a pretty flakey dude, that is for certain.

Any coach that has been in the NHL 10+ years will have a long list of being mean and yelling at players and personal.

Some one who will add some defensive structure to our game - other than a couple of players, we are not a high flying offensive team - IMO.

I find it hard to reconcile so many of the complaints about Maurice with some of the suggested coaches here who do the same things but worse.

Torts recent comments on the Zegras play just show how backwards he is and Babcock will find it hard to get any respect from a team after the way he left Toronto. Quenneville's career is likely over.

Torts would be a good candidate, he's like the anti-Maurice in that he can't stop himself from constant line-juggling and stirring up crap and drama, while throwing people under the bus in front of media. Where he aligns with Maurice is that he actually seems like a very good guy and is well spoken and charismatic. As an added bonus he already knows PLD from their time in CBJ. His constant benchings of Scheifele, Connor & Ehlers would also give new guys good opportunities. Go Torts!
:sarcasm:

Seriously though, I know it won't happen, but it would be interesting to see a new-to-NA but accomplished coach like Gronberg or Jalonen. I was rooting for CBJ to go for that after Torts, but instead they promoted their assistant to head coach. I think it's an even more unlikely move for Jets because they are in phase where they are striving to contend right now, so it seems pretty certain they'll just recycle one from the clubhouse of NHL coaches unless they think they already have their guy in house.

I would like to see a fresh (to Jets at least) face ASAP though, I think big part of the new coach boost is having someone from the outside come in and the whole new level of accountability and getting to know players that comes with it. Lowry knows everyone already and has the players figured out and everyone knows him. Of course it might be he seems some things very different to how Maurice did now that he has the full power and responsibility, but we'll see.

It's just that Maurice being gone, promoting Lowry to HC and continuing with the old coaching staff just seems like a half-way measure which might not solve some of the issues that have been plaguing the team for years.

If Lowry solves just half the issues we are a lot better off.

Why did we keep Lowry for the year. This isn't Florida where team was good and coach left in the Chicago scandal/ So we have been awful for a while now going back to last year regular season, being outplayed in 3 Edmonton games and still winning and than Montreal disaster. So Maurice resigns was about to get fired and we remain status quo?

Just because we promoted from within doesn't mean status quo - at all. Lowry has a lot of experience of his own. He might resemble Maurice. Just as likely not. Lets see what he does before we go judging him.

Huddy should be gone. The D he has run is just effing awful. We don't know how much of that was Maurice but the stink of that D is big enough to cover Huddy as well.

lol...copp will not bring a first...on a good day a 2nd

stats...last year of the contract and probably retire..
why would anyone trade for him..
they could pic him up nothing at the end of the season

boo boo is waiver wire pick up...same get him for a penny at the end of the season

He is talking TD trades - for the rest of this season. No one wants players with term at that point. They are looking for boosts for this year's PO.

Good chance Copp gets a 1st if he scores a bit more first. Stats a 3rd? Easily!

What high-flying offensive team has more offensive players than we have? 2-3 high-flying offensive players tacked onto any average team makes for a high-flying offensive team.

Edit: Agree we need defensive structure though.

but then again..since we r under new on ice management...copp might be able to up his play by being put in more successful situations...its a waiting game sadly

Good chance he stays on the 3rd line now. That will reduce his TD value.

But I still prefer to make the PO ourselves and trade no one except Beaulieu. Might bring a conditional 7th 3 years from now.

IDK - wasn't referring to other teams
I disagree that 2 or 3 high output offensive players make a for a high flying team.
You actually see a number of top contending teams that use strong defensive game as a major contributor to their success -
That's what I'm referring to.

Paul Maclean or Scott Arniel gets my vote .

Arniel was all-time bad as a NHL coach based on several interviews on podcasts I've listened to with his players in CBJ. Players don't respect him at all and he loses his mind unprofessionally.
