What's the age of consent????????????? Come on people. Jesus.

I'm in my 50's.

My advice to a fellow 50 year old would be: "Regardless of whether you are a good guy or a bad guy, don't get into a texting - or any kind of relationship with a 17 year old girl, you stupid dumb ass. There is no kind of texting that involves the words just between you and I that doesn't at the very least make you seem creepy and suspect as well as confirm to all the world that you are a f***ing idiot"

My advice to a 40 year old would be: See above.

My advice to a 30 year old would be: See above.

My advice to a 20 year old would be: "Regardless of whether you are a good guy or a bad guy, be very careful about getting into a relationship with a 17 year old girl. Don't be a dumb ass."

If that 17 year old were my daughter - the message to the 50, 40, or 30 year old would be "Text her again and I break all your fingers. Come near her and expect to get hurt much much worse than that. You've been warned"

My advice to the 20 year old would be "Tread very carefully young man. Very very carefully."

A 17 year old girl. Do some of you not remember what it was like in high school??? I say again. Jesus.

The age of consent in Canada is 16. His problem is he paid her making it prostitution and paying someone under 18 for sex comes with additional crimes than simply paying for sex which is a mostly ignored law.

If she was 18 or if he had not paid her this wouldn't be a big deal at all.

I'm kind of thinking it probably still would, actually. :help:

Do you even know what you are talking about? You do realise that the victim in question has denied that Katz did anything wrong.

You really need to read the entire article and not jump on the bandwagon the moment you see something

Hilarious, my education probably cost more than your house
Sometimes you read a comment on the internet and it strikes a unique balance of

* stupidity, and
* lack of self-awareness

That it makes one feel ashamed to be part of the human condition. Too bad you missed that lesson during your fancy education. Don't worry, I won't charge your mommy's credit card for this one.

Yeah, I don't think age of consent matters if a guy is in his 50s. I'm pretty sure you have to be somewhat close in age...

Sounds like he is more of a "buyer".

What if he had sexual relations with a woman that was 30? Would that still be a big deal? Something to banish him for from the league?

Yeah, I don't care if he gets hookers man. I think that is his business, but if he is going for underaged...man I can't let that slide (assuming this is illegal in Canada).

If everything he did was legal, then no, he should be left alone.

I just don't know how paying a 17 year old girl for sex is legal.

I don't think the victims legal counsel coming out and saying Katz did nothing wrong is an indicator that he is innocent and nothing happened. The whole point of using the texts is to discredit her as a plaintiff, so it's in her best interest to not admit that there was some illicit relationship going on since that torpedos her current case against these two Button scumbags.

Also, if there's a link drawn between her getting access to some random bank account and getting prepaid cards with lots of cash on them, you don't want to draw attention to that either. Even if that was just some side payment for her working on that project, I doubt shes claiming prepaid debit cards and UBS accounts (maybe not even in her name) on her tax returns. The last thing you need is the IRS or whomever getting a wiff that you might have got 75K under the table.

At the end of the day, Katz has shit loads of money and can probably just buy his way out of whatever she could admit too, but the victim doesn't have that kind of money. If she took money for prostitution/Sugar daddy stuff then she has a lot more to lose financially for taking that money and probably not reporting it and also in her current lawsuit. She's kind of between a rock and a hard place here and I'm not sure what good for her comes of admitting if something did go down. I guess she could admit to everything and then try to sue him but then you run into the whole consensual agreement he said/she said vs a guy with unlimited money and a huge legal team.

The are many cases where the victim will deny abuse, sexual misconduct, etc even though it has occurred.

You totally missed my point. I don’t really care if it’s legal or not.

A 53 year old man having any kind of seemingly intimate interaction with a 17 year old girl is out of line. Period. Same for men of 40, 30, or any older than say 20. My own daughter is now in her late 20’s but when she was 17 even a 20 year old would be warned to be very very careful and watched like a hawk.

I suspect you are not a parent of a daughter.

“If she was 18 or if he had not paid her this wouldn’t be a big deal at all”???? Sorry, not in my book.

Just because something might be technically “legal” doesn’t mean a father like me wouldn’t take action — likely unpleasant action. I’d protect my daughter no matter the personal cost to me — and happily plead my case in court.

”Did you break his kneecap?”

“Yes, and I’ll happily tell you why and then take whatever punishment is due without protest”

And, no, I am not some sort a “tough guy”. But I’d defend my 17 year old daughter to the nth degree from a 53 year old creep — without question and without losing any sleep at night. Good lord.

I bet I’m not alone on that island either.

Nothing to see here guys. It was a simple business relationship. Between a 17 year old dancer and a billionaire in his 50s. Totally above board, they were doing business.

Oh for sure. Who among us didn't have someone e-transfer $50,000 to us when we were 17 years old.
Happens all the time.

(just in case it wasn't clear I know you were being sarcastic too)

So did Voynov's wife, yet he got convicted and thrown out of the league.

The only info against Katz is an image of text messages. It is an image shared by the people who allegedly abused this girl. We don't even know if the texts are legit. It's not like the phone company was subpoenaed and produced these, or even the victim herself

Man is this thread an EXCELLENT example of people not only not waiting for facts to form opinions, but actively disregarding the known facts.

Girl sues sex abuser. Sex abuser says she’s a prostitute and Katz was a customer. She denies it.

Posters: so creepy he slept with an underage prostitute
Just so we are all clear, you DON'T find it at all weird that a 53 year old married man, who has previously been accused of offering money to a woman in exchange for sex, paid a 17 year old girl for sex? 🤨

Just so we are clear, we don’t know. He denies it. And more importantly, she seemingly denies it. So I am willing to wait and hear more facts before I decide anything.

And this is different than other allegations on this forum—the allegations aren’t from the purported victim.

So you agree that no one truly knows the facts in this case? So why does your previous comment say that people are "disregarding known facts?" The general public knows no facts, only claims or accusations.
