Watched it live and it was like a bunch of old guys sitting around talking "kids these days".

Literally everyone connected to the game is looking to maximize opportunity and earnings, but we expect the kids to keep the "purity" of the game alive. I don't even dislike Herbstreit, but he needs to get over himself.

Edit: I could understand if he took the stance that opting out makes you a bad teammate to the guys that have helped you get to where you are, because I feel like there's some validity there. But don't come at us with this fairytale love of the game BS.

It is also is funny Kirk works for ESPN who runs a weekly hour long playoff show every week from like the half point of the season where they talk about a small number of teams.

There’s legitimate reason for that but like you’s help create that perception that college football is essentially meaningless outside of like 2-3 teams every year.

I like Kirk though he should just shut up. He has one of the best jobs in America. He gets to travel around and watch/commentate on football. He was in Miami for NYE and Pasadena today ffs .

Smith-Njigba and Marvin Williams Jr is why Ohio State didn't give a shit about opt-outs and why it matters less to them than it does almost literally anyone else. That was basically a head start on next season, which I'm sure thrilled fans of Michigan and Penn State who got to watch it.
