Post-Game Talk: End of the Shanascam? | Leafs Blown Out at Home Again

Yea he def knows the answer but he gets paid millions of dollars and throwing players under the bus is like throwing his bosses under the boss. So he goes with the generic “I don’t have an answer”. Now ask him 8 beers deep and terminated and off the books from the leafs, he would share his real thoughts haha.
Yup as would most intelligent hockey minds

personally i blame the organization from hiding them at all costs from criticism and never holding them accountable.

Agreed! They've been coddled to no end. I knew it was all over the day Keefe had to walk back his comments in the media and he had said nothing too controversial.

Saw this on twitter and was at a loss for words AGAIN where these players do not take any accountability

Hell even McDavid was pissed last year

At least Tavares seems to not be learning lessons anymore and is taking some accountability

It was reported everywhere in the media. What inside intel do you have ? Did he try to trade Marner too ?
The fact that most media insiders had it, independently, suggests it definitely happened.

You may have reason to not believe one of them - but there's cause to not believe all of them.

It also fits the Nylander negotiation timeline too: why else would they simply cave and give Nylander the same ask in December that he wanted in the summer? Because they were trying to gauge interest, obviously.

JT was taking the opportunity to come to what appeared to be a promising young team that looked to have a bright future.

That is no longer the case.
There was nothing wrong with Kadri and his $4.5M hit.

Why we couldn't just stand pat and continue building haunts me to no end.

And on that note, wouldn't that be terribly ironic if Tavares came back...at $4.5M per?

Too Leafy not to happen methinks.

Team and goalie were synchronous in their awful play.

When Domi made it 3-1, Woll probably could have saved their whole organizational reputation just keeping them in it to fight 10 minutes for that 3-2 goal. Make it a scramble to finish, give the crowd one last hurrah. Nope. Complete nuclear winter level goaltending with a smile on his face. Just not a guy who can be trusted.
literally blaming a goalie that makes below a million a year...yikes

I admittedly don't know how much stock I can attribute to a GM re-signing a player for max term after he apparently tried to peddle him either. I do agree that Shanahan isn't likely to be handcuffing Treliving's abilities as GM though.
What?

We know he tried trading him for the best Dman they could get, and didnt like the offers they were getting.

I agree, the fans deserve to be upset, but there's no excuse for booing and throwing jereys on the ice. The Leafs were one win from the conference finals and had a good chance to win, Florida was their biggest hurdle from going to the finals. I think that the finals will be Florida vs Dallas, but I hope that it's Carolina vs Edmonton.
I respectfully disagree, the only way fans can let ownership and management and the players for that matter know how disgusted they are with this group. Humiliating them on national TV might just be a powerful tool

The issue right now is he’s coming off a bad year where he was likely injured for most of it. He might want out too but they won’t be able to maximize the return. Let him get healthy and hopefully have a great regular season and then trade him.
Cant see a trade happening when hes an UFA

If games 5 and 7 were hard fought games, I would agree.

If I had paid thousands of dollars to watch the Leafs do that when it matters most, I wouldn't set foot in the building again.

This is an insane stat especially considering how many bad games teams like Chicago, San Jose and the Predators had this season:

"Through 40 minutes, the Maple Leafs had allowed their opponent to amass more shot attempts (75) than any team had through two periods in any game this season — regular season or playoffs."

It’s because Kadri has passion and we can’t have that passion around Matthews and Marner. Too much give a crap from Kadri for Matthews and marners liking.

Who did Knies and Patches play with the entire playoffs? On lines by themselves? Playing in the top 6 beside your team best players isn't "Depth" they are expected to chip in.. Domi was the only other forward that gave us any sort of production, while being a complete liability in his own end.

800k salary Jonah Gadjovich on the panthers chipped in twice.... He makes no money and contributed massive goals for their team in Game 3 and 7.

That 800k produced more then Jankrok,Laughton,McMann,Lortentz,Kampf,Holmberg.

Also produced more goals then Matthews + Marner as well lol
So is it the players, or the system berube deployed. Laughton was a depth scoring piece for philly, but then comes here and can't score?

I think they gauged interest before Shanahan reassured them and the interest wasn’t as high as they expected. Still Shanahan has been the run it back man for the last five years when they had plenty of chances to change the team’s makeup. He has to be fully accountable.

Yep

They had a first overall big number one centre to build around and the first thing Dubas does his break the bank for another number one centre.

Nobody wants to say it but Leafs got a raw deal this year as much as they were out played, out coached and out managed.

The reffing was terrible, and the interference the NHL allows in the playoffs now is almost unwatchable.

Leafs got out coached in that regard, the Leafs D didn't run interference like the Panthers D did. I'm assuming this is why Maurice does the hard rim vs a soft corner dump. It's way harder to run interference on the hard rim.
They got out worked. It’s really that simple. Been the story since 16/34/88 joined the team

I said nothing about blaming the fans. I just said the point was valid, that it is going to be tougher on players here because of the sheer frenzie that exists. That doesn't mean you can't win in cities like this, but do you honestly think this is the same as a market in Florida, Dallas, or Carolina? Not even close.
Sorry I misunderstood your post then because my post was intended to be all about players blaming the fans for the failures of the team and being too hard on them.
To your point though, yes I think the pressure is more in these markets. But success isn’t harder because of it. I also think playing in front of half empty arenas and being irrelevant like the panthers were for all those years would be hard. Winning cures all.
