Knicks and Lakers have same record in past 6 years.

Somehow the Lakers accumulated way better assets however. They are favorites for AD trade and everyone and their mothers know Pelinka/Magic era was a disaster.

We had KP, Melo, and a way better roster and somehow have no assets to trade for AD.

Edmonton Oilers of the NBA.

Such is how averages work...

To steal a reddit post,
"Knicks have picked 12, 4, 7, 8, 9, 3. Kept 3 picks, dropped 2 spots twice, 1 spot once. Last time Knicks have moved up was 1985.
Lakers have picked 7, 2, 2, 2, 10, 4. Moved up 7 spots once, 2 spots once, 1 spot once, kept 2 picks, dropped 1 spot once. A better draft position than the Knicks in 4/6 years and the other 2 years they were just a spot back."

Truly mind-boggling why/how/wtf the Knicks were not able to embrace the tank in years they finished with 4,7,8,9 picks. I honestly don't know what ownership was thinking those years besides a stupid insistence on pride over foresight.

They'll trade all their good young guys for AD. Bron, AD, Rondo aren't winning anything.

Exciting finals, too bad about the injuries, but those are the breaks.

Warriors won a chip without Irving and Love playing for the Cavs.

Good time to be a Rockets fan. We might just have a chance next year.

Clips could be the sleeper for the title next season.

They have the following guys under contract for next year:

Lou Will
Gallinari
Harrell
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Shamet

They have 50m in cap space. If they bring Kawhi and a tier 2 guy, they could be deadly.

Or they could trade Gallinari and go 2 max.

One more:

average pick in that span:
Lakers: 4.5
Knicks: 7.17

*that is managerial incompetence to me

Thank you Phil Jackson. Unreal how much he screwed the team. While getting KD will help turn this around, the Knicks have a few years before they can recover from this still.
