I'm not a big basketball fan, but the Warriors announcing that they're going to retire Durant's number is weird, right?

Eh, not so weird to me. Anyone who has brought their team 2 championships with 2 Finals MVP awards is probably going to the rafters.

I think everyone who has ever delivered two Finals/Playoff MVPs to their team in any of the major sports has their number retired - except for Eli, Brady, Crosby, and Lebron's 6 with the Heat, and those will all 100% be retired as well.

Edit: And Terry Bradshaw, but he's unofficially retired since nobody wears 12 for the Steelers

That they'd do it eventually doesn't surprise me. It's that they're announcing it publicly while he's still playing, after leaving the team as a free agent, and only spending three seasons there. It would be one thing if it's a 38 year old who spent their entire career with your team before leaving to chase a ring when you're no longer a contender.

Well, Kawhi to LA.

Guess for all us sour grape Knicks fans, at least no one besides the Lakers will be winning a championship for the next 3-4 years. ;)

Hopefully Kawhi goes to the Clippers. Need some balance in the league.

(I also loaded up on them at 14-1 to win the title pre free agency)

I know it is summer league, but getting to see these young players get some action tonight, together, will be nice. Outside of Randle, these 4 guys playing tonight are the biggest parts of this franchise going forward. Going to be fun to watch. These guys are all NBA players, while a lot of the teams coming in will have maybe 2-3 guys that have NBA futures.

I'm in Vegas for the 4th and figured I'd catch the summer league tonight. Cheap concessions (relative to msg I guess) 10 minute quarters 8 minute half time and no TV time Outs is the way the NBA should be.

I expect it to be different for Zion vs RJ.

Wish I was there in Vegas as well....lucky you!. Watching the Knicks/Pelicas game right now as I have to take a break from all these holiday parties past few days...so I be staying in and the Thomas and Mack looks and sounds electric....wonder why? lol

Zion is being Zion and not disappointing...simply dominant. The Knicks look really good actually tho they should seeing alot of them are 2nd year guys. Barrett has been impressive thus far and hasn't looked out of place. Knox if he can play like this most of the time would be an all-star...looks real good. Mitchell Robinson looks pretty damn good as well along with Thrier

I dunno what to make of these Summer league games but when it comes to the Knicks and you've sucked for so long, anything positive is a good thing I guess....lol

It's a low bar - last year 17 wins worst NBA team in the league. So basically if we end up 2nd worse it's progress

Not sure what you mean when you say "2nd worse"...in the Summer league? Or regular season?

Doris Duke just got finished saying the Knicks summer league team is favored to win the Vegas summer league title which for a team that has only made the playoffs 3 times in last 15 years, we'll take it as like I said, you got to start having postive things happen after such negativity.

Maybe this Plan B the that Mills and Perry pulled off where we got all these above average to solid players but none elite will end up panning out. I just hope they can be competitive and exciting and guys like Knox,Barrett, Trier, DSmith, Robinson can continue to grow.

Kind of like the Rangers in a sense except the Knicks don't have a Panarin or a Kakko type...lol

Some wild ass shit. First time I've ever watched a game that was ever delayed due to an earthquake.

Scoreboard and speakers were shaking. Speakers still shaking. I thought I just read it was a 7.1 on richter scale which is pretty damn high. Hope not too read that there is widespread damage.

I was in my hotel room when the 6.4 struck yesterday. My room shook. Elevators weren't running. I asked someone in security if there was any damage and she looked at me like i was a moron. Proceeded to go to restaurant for breakfast.

This was definitely stronger but i doubt there was any damage in Las Vegas. Near the epicenter I can't say.

Was planning to gut it out but who knows when the game will restart. Hopefully my hotel is still standing. :)

First off glad your safe bro. Secondly, games have been postponed at the Thomas and Mack due to the earthquake. Smart move as you can't keep playing when you have scoreboards and speakers that weigh tons that were swaying until they are checked out.

Pretty wild. I've never actually felt or been in a place in my 55 years where an earthquake happened but I know if I did, I'd be a bit on the skittish side. Anyways, glad again your good to go and like I said before, hopefully there is no damage or anyone got hurt. Guess we'll find out soon if this 6.9 or 7.1 depends upon where you read, earthquake did any physical damage.

Thanks! All good. I should have left with the initial rush as I was on bottom of Uber line. Spoke to one of the staff and they told me the arena is on shock absorbers to protect from earthquake so the shaking might have been exaggerated. They told me they didn't feel anything on the concourse.
