When factoring in some of the variables, including injuries and what appeared to be a growing rift between Porzingis and the organization, I don't hate the deal.

It really comes down to the lottery and free agency.

They were never going to be top 5 picks anyway. Unless they're like top 15-20 protected it really doesn't change anything.

I mean their luck has to change. They win the lotto and get Zion. They sign KD and Irving. They might get a player like Kemba not on a max deal.

Then they have all their future firsts plus 2 extra for ammo to either keep youth infusions or bolster the roster down the road.

That could set them up for long term success. A lot has to go right through.

Luck has to change. Story of my life as a post 1994 Rangers/Jets/Mets fan and someone who has watched the Patriots get every lucky break imaginable for the last 15 years.

Weird some are taking Porzingis side. Dude and his bro are drama queens.

He wanted to bounce when the Knick were about to surround him with some actual talent.

I guess it's pretty hypocritical of me to take Porzingis' side after I spent the entire first week of July 2018 calling John Tavares a lying sociopath and being utterly mindblown that he would actually big league the Islanders like that and leave for Toronto ...

SOOOO many what-ifs but....... they were just saying on ESPN the Knicks could potentially sign Kyrie, KD and then trade the #1 overall, Frank, Knox and Trier for Anthony Davis.

The worst thing you could have his relatives advising you, if you're an athlete. They won't tell you the truth.

Janis was a problem from the very beginning.

When I first learned during the draft 15', that his brother was his agent, kind of suspected possible trouble down the road. I was not a fan of that.

Listen to Alan Hahn's comments on him. He's been trying to tell Janis to chill for awhile but he thinks he's smarter than everyone else.

Here’s my complete guess on how this played out, judging from stories trickling out.

The relationship was strained already. When the Davis news hit and the rumors started, KP got all pissy. His brother got the word to NO that he’ll take the QO and go the UFA Route- it’s not a guaranteed signing.

His goal was to gain control over the Knicks and his future. The team got furious, said f*** this guy - enough is enough. They were already discussions on DSJ and Dallas was in town.

Then, the Knicks structured the leaks to Woj and co to make sure people knew KP forced their hand.

Our GM is to blame for this. He built a poor team around KP, star player doesn't want to play for a shitty franchise and people are surprised.

Knee issues for a thin big man are never ending.

Knicks were smart here.

KP will never play a full season again in the NBA.

Get rid of hi. Now before he becomes the next 25+Million boat anchor

Even before the ACL tear, he was hurt often.

Though he put on muscle, when players/teams last year started to get very physical with him, he couldn't handle it. His play severely dropped and he got hurt.
It started with Dwight Howard.

I don't see why anyone cares about a guy who can't stay healthy. Kinda shocked that I'm the only one who thinks this is actually a good move. There's literally no one of his size who has ever come back from ACL surgery. I have no hope that he'll all of a sudden become a consistent healthy, productive player.

Seems to me like a smart move overall. Besides the health, guy and his brother were just drama queens. I gave it a lot of leeway because that's the NBA these days, but still, I'd rather not have an organization held hostage by a guy who hasn't even managed to get on the court this year.
