When I played that was a 2 minute penalty. And the ref might just tell Jake to get da **** up before I hit you with a delay of game. It would have been over with an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. And the ref would have warned both teams to stop with running guys into the stanchin and then retaliating with a cross check. But unfortunately that game was run by a weak ref and it had gone amock. Hockey becoming more like Euro futball now which makes me sick. That was embarrassing what Jake did. He made a mockery of the game.

Good for you. I hope you find a time machine to take you back to the good old days where you'll be happy again.

Who do you replace him with though? He is are 'pest' however, he is unreliable with his brain in the playoffs, twice now he cost us !
Unless its an upgrade, I say we hang onto him.

I dont care what the Leafs do with Kadri. But lets not pretend that 4.5M 30 goal guys are available or ever will be available.

SO go ahead and trade the guy. But when the next thread starts about how horrible "3C X" is and that we should trade him for a better alternative, I'm going to be there to say I told you so.

Making changes for the sake of making change is not good. If there is someone better in free agency and comes in at the same price or lower great. Trade Kadri tomorrow.

He’s no longer a 30G guy. He’s a 16G guy.

He’s also a 6 playoff games played out of 14 kind of guy too.

4.5M is a waste if he doesn’t play.

He’s a good 2C on a team that needs a 2C to get into the playoffs. We have Tavares and Matthews who rotate as our 1/2C.

Time to move on.

I'll take the proven 30 goal guy over UFA X or trade bait X any day. If you think the Leafs lost to the Bruins because of Kadri then you are the one thats misguided. Leafs were up 3-2 and had a game at home to finish them off.

So your point is that we need Kadri but we were up 3-2 without him and could have finished them off?

??

Sort of a disconnect there.

do you believe that Kadri can score 30 on the third line with limited ice team etc for the rest of his contract?
and do you believe that when his contract is over he'll sign for the same amount of money?
People are living in a far different time and place, assuming he didn't age, decline, or play a much different role. It's staggering how some people wouldn't want to trade our suspension-prone #3c centre behind Tavares and Matthews when (if Z is traded) Justin Holl is #1 on the depth chart at RD.

That's just pure insanity.

It was defending his team mates like it or not it is the truth.

He has also proven he can change. So in my opinion we keep him as His replacement is going to cost us the same or more with out the skill set he brings. Think Washington is going to trade Tom Wilson...hell no.

defend him for what? a clean shoulder to shoulder hit, to which Marleau got right back up? and so his response to defend his teammate is to make an illegal hit to the head? Why did he have to defend him that way? Why couldn't he just drop the gloves? Why did it have to be at that moment?

He hasn't proven he can change. because if he could change he wouldn't have been stupid enough to choose defend his teammate by taking his stick and hitting someone in the head with it, something that he's been suspended for doing (hitting people's heads) before. If he has proven he can change, then after last year when he got suspended for defending his teammates and everyone in management talked to him he would have had the sense that God gave a grasshopper and thought "okay i know i have to defend Patty here, but let's maybe not do it now."

not to mention I am asking again.
do people honestly think Kadri is going to score 30 goals from the 30 line next year (or the next few years). yes or no.
and - do people honestly think he's going to re-sign here for the same amount money if he does or if he wants to be a 2nd/1st liner somewhere else, because it's literally not going to be here.

forget the fact that I can't trust him not to hurt this team to "defend" his teammates and not do dirty plays and what not, we have some holes to fix in this team and I'd argue having a legitimate 3rd line centre who can produce very well with limited options vs. Kadri who might not be able to - is one of them. (OR getting actual long term defensive help).

I'm pretty sure if the team needs a pest we can find one . and if we're lucky enough maybe they constantly won't get suspended for hitting people in the head either.

So much overreacting in here. If we had more of what Kadri brings on the team he wouldn't have gotten suspended. I wish more players on the team bleeds blue.
He bleeds Kadri, not blue. His suspensions have cost the team far more than they have helped.

4 regular season suspensions in his career and, more importantly, two multi-game suspensions in the playoffs (in 4 playoff series).

Did the suspensions help the team?? Yes or no? The answer is right there.
...that's why it was stupid. The motivation/reasoning is what would make it selfish. Trying to stick up for the team/teammate isn't selfish. How he went about it was simply stupid.

More players like Kadri would mean even less players in the post season.

It's both actually. What was wrong with him dropping the gloves instead? The fact he didn't do that is where selfish met stupid.

Nothing wrong with him dropping the gloves, but that highlights how the motivation isn't selfish, but the act he chose was stupid.

And Scott Stevens used to be able to legally take peoples heads off... Times have changed a cross check to the head is now suspendible.
