Oh dear god, this is so sad.

Aside from Lehkonen, everyone else is essentially a bust.

Actually the best was in his HM. Jake Evans. But it makes sense as those lists progress every year, every month and almost every week. I think have Evans as a potential NHL'er. And when you look at today's list, well it would not be far fetched to already claim that from 14 and down...nobody will see a NHL ice for a long period of time. But it does look better though.

Mysak at 12 is pretty shocking but I haven't seen enough to say. If he has anything close to Caufield's offseason this kid could really be something. From the plek meeting and Bouchard's comments you can't help but think he's going to do whatever it takes to be his best which could be really something. Great D play with a fantastic shot and nice mitts. Even if he doesn't evolve into an offensive dynamo, he can still be a great bottom 6er. He does have the skills though.

That top 15 though is rock solid no matter how you slice it. Especially when you consider the kids that are on the team now. I'm excited.

As a said it was really tough to get a read on Mysak as him and Hillis played so little and even when they did they didn't get much TOI. Mysak looks like he will be an NHLer but I don't know how much offensive upside he has as I just haven't seen that much of him. I haven't really seen a fantastic shot or nice mitts so far but he was clearly overmatched physically in Laval yet did show some things for sure.

Look at Ylonen, I wasn't as high on him as others but kept saying that it was really hard to get a read on him since it was so hard to actually see him play since my rankings are all about views as i've seen every prospect and that's usually the case by the year end rankings but I like to get several views if not more before I really feel comfortable which is why my bread and butter is the AHL and NCAA prospects since I get to see so much of them there. Ylonen impressed the hell out of me this year, if he can add mass and strength, look out.

It's really good to see Ylonen rising back to relevance as a prospect

that speed to go with his shot, he could be something for sure.

I haven't been following prospects that closely, and I know Norlinder has had quite a bit of hype at the beginning of the year, but I am surprised to see him at the very top of your ranking.

What is your read on him? Do you believe we have a star on our hands, or is it more a case of many guys being close and just liking him a little more than the others?

I had him neck and neck with Guhle, who is much safer then Norlinder but I like Norlinder's offensive upside much more. If Guhle had of played a full season and not just a couple games all year, it likely would have been flipped as there are legit concerns about Norlinder's defensive IQ and he's had trouble staying healthy.

I think Norlinder's upside is sky high as long as he stays healthy, he can really snipe it and the thought of watching him and Caufield on the same PP is very exciting.

Norlinder's hands are so smooth. Hope he does whatever he can to shore up his D and strength and not get so injured as much.

My gut tells me though that Guhle's going to be better. All Guhle's offense will be icing on the cake but he has some decent tools. If he can get the offense going he's going to be a monster.

I really hope Ylonen can bulk up and get the consistency going. Still that year he had in the A surprised me. I just don't know if his development curve quite has it. It could be a real boost of confidence having such a good year in Laval. I don't know if I put him over Primeau but man the tools are there. His shot is too lethal and his skating is great. Lets hope he puts it all together.

Poehling I think is going to be a beauty. Too big, too fast. He can rip it too.

Our top 5 really isn't that ho hum in a vacuum. But in the context of who we have on the Habs now it looks or feels a lot better. Has to be the best top 15 we've had in a long time. All of them have real pro potential imo.

Interesting to see who we add next draft. Lots of picks.

Yea if Guhle played more then just a few games this year between 3 Laval, 2 WHL, then he likely is #1 as it made more sense to go with him but I just love watching Norlinder with the puck in the offensive zone.

I was so impressed with Ylonen in Laval, even more then Poehling who did look great as well but Ylonen as a rookie was just so good. The hands to go with that speed is certainly something to build on. I'm sure @Goldenhands is happy to see me having Ylonen ranked that high along with Primeau as he was higher on them then I was at the start and that's with me being really high on Primeau quickly after seeing him play at NU at 18. Ylonen was tougher to get a read on since his games were so hard to be able to see.

Overall the top 15 or so is impressively deep and we have 11 picks next month including 4 top 70ish picks at least for now. So year it's lacking in high end talent but when you have Harris, Brook, Struble outside the top 5 it certainly looks deep.

Still lacks high end talent at forward, but yeah, it’s definitely a deep group IMO.

For me, Ylonen has always been with ease one of our top prospects , his world junior showing was great and you could see all the tools he had, including some elite traits such as his elite skating, both in term of speed and agility, the hands, sharp accurate passing skills and shot... The hockey sense or IQ was good enough for me to become an excellent top 6 player. The key word with Ylonen is "confidence", how good he can become will depends of his mental strength, all the tools are there, maybe adding a bit more size will help as well, but we get a player here, a really good one.

Primeau, I wished he faced more shots and quality scoring chances per game, Laval was doing a great job in front of him this year and he didnt look sharp at all when called up to face the Leafs at the end of the season... But the technic, size, skills are all there, just needs some more pro level experience, he is still very young for a goaltender, he will be a good one, I think the kid is mentally extremmely solid as well so future looks bright at that position.

I have RHP a bit higher than you do, kid just looks like a Gallagher clone with better hands out there, I really love how he plays the game, I think the odds he becomes a very solid NHLer are really good at this point...

I've been repeating that in the draft thread many times, after Guhle last year we now badly need to pick a forward this year unless some surprise D that they just can't pass on ends up falling to us ala Caufield. This system so badly needs help at forward for the prospect system. Ylonen really surprised me with how good he looked and Poehling really turned it around but I was never that high on his offensive upside so unless Mysak, Farrell, Tuch, RHP, Teasdale really step up it's ugly and needs help for sure.

Ylonen always impressed me with the speed and shot but so did Collberg and Kristo. I don't put a lot of stock in the WJC"s after being burned in the past. I think he just needs to add mass and strength, but man was he good in Laval this year.

Primeau I was always really high on, just a little less then you, I have watched a shit ton of NCAA hockey over the past 20+ years (I can remember watching Komisarek at Michigan like it was yesterday) I don't know if I have ever seen such a goalie performance at 18 and 19 in the NCAA when you factor in that he was in one of the big 3 conferences, he didn't have 1st round picks on his team, the defense was led by a 7th round pick and Harris in 1st year, it was so impressive. Primeau did struggle in the NHL but I'm hoping he kicks ass next year and shows he can be a legit NHL starter in time.

RHP plays like Gallagher but without the strength, mass, skating and speed. I ranked him higher then I wanted to because he works so hard and is willing to get his nose dirty but he's got to work on the skating/speed for a player his size. Gallagher made big strides in adding mass/strength while getting quicker. If RHP does this then we got something for sure, if not then it's much harder to say what he can do in the NHL. I didn't like the pick at the time as I thought it was pathetic that MB said they drafted him because they were worried he wouldn't sign with us but like Evans and Primeau, it's looking like a smart pick in the 7th round.

Obviously, RHP's strength isnt at the level of a Gallagher yet, he is only 20, but he still is very strong for his size and his skating was pretty close to Gallagher in the game they played together with Laval this year, I dont see much of a diffference in that area... RHP already has better hands than Gallagher, its softer and more enjoyable to watch...

There was nothing smooth about Kristo's skating, he was straight line fast enough with some nice hands, but it was rough, in the mold of a Toffoli... Collberg has never been close the skater Ylonen is in term of speed and explosiveness and Ylonen is much smarter than both used to be... Few players can skate and stickhandle at the level of a Ylonen and those attributes stood out in his WJC showcase... I cant find my report about our kids after that WJC, but I was already calling him an elite skater with tremendous agility, explosiveness and the smooth stickhandling skills coming with. Kid could fly and make plays at full speed, playing hockey was already looking so easy for this kid and his shot was also deadly, so you could see all the potential in this kid already...

RHP was drafted as an overager, he's 22 not 20, he'll turn 23 a couple months into next season. If he was 20 I would view him differently. I wouldn't say he's very strong for his size, as that's something Gallagher had at his age. I don't think the skating is that close either. Gallagher is way ahead of what RHP was at the same age.

Kristo's skating was good and he was always putting up points at every level he played, Collberg wasn't as good of a skater as Ylonen but we are talking about a 16 year old that broke the J20 points record for a U-17 player. He was over a ppg at the WJC's at 17. There's a reason why both these players were picked in the 2nd round same for Ylonen. But like I said I don't put too much stock in the WJC's and even miss a few games here and there. I prefer to watch them in the AHL where I get to see a ton of them over the course of a year and more. So I will get to see a lot of Ylonen for sure now that he's over here. I was very impressed and now that next season is hopefully back to normal, we'll see how things go for him.

nice assist from Stapley, DU just smoked ASU though so we'll see how the season goes for him since he's playing for a contract. f***ing shitty old labtop though, another vid that the quality is poor, need to get a new one.

Put that sweet youtube money to good use and buy yourself a decent laptop already! You can even write it off as a business expense ;).

i wish, need a lot more subs before they will even review my channel for pay. You need 1K subs and 4K hours watched, I'm over 8K hours watched but only 54o subs. I saw where someone was streaming Hab games on youtube and putting their venmo and paypal links asking for donations, I thought about doing that as money is tight right now but that could change quickly hopefully as I've had some banks contact me for work. I've been mostly working for myself the last 7 years but for the right money I might go back. Some were talking 30-35 dollars an hour US so we'll see how that goes.

You're doing a fine job with your channel , keep going at it, I'm sure you'll get to 1k ( and more) at some point soon :thumbu: I know you've got my subscription !

About the Biondi game last night, his goal was a nice snipe from the slot, he got the puck off the face-off, fired a shot but it was blocked, got the puck back and sniped it just inside the bar. He got an assist a few minutes later from some good work by his line. I'm a bit surprised he got the assist as he was standing in front of the net when a teammate shot it and it hit him, bounced out to his LWer on his line (as Biondi is at RW) and he fired it home.

Pitlick was the spare forward, I only saw the 1st period but he had 3 shifts I believe (I wasn't looking for him), the play by play said his coach said he has elite speed but he didn't show it too much as he didn't do much of anything until his 3rd shift where he made a good defensive play to take the puck away. 2 of his shifts were at the same time Biondi's was so that made it easier to see him play as I wasn't interested in watching him as I don't think he's much of a prospect.

How can you follow all these prospects on a daily basis ? How many games do you watch per day ?

i've had my own business for the past 7 years so that makes it a lot easier but the biggest key is on demand tv/streams. Without them I wouldn't be able to. If I can't sleep, there's always a game to watch at whatever hour, work is slow, always a game to watch.

so I bought a used tower through walmart for 200 bucks, got it the other day, set it up and it worked great for about an hour lol. They are going to refund the money but now I had to order another one and it should be here on the 27th or 28th hopefully. Once that happens I'll be able to make a lot more vids.

I bought my new one on the Dell website, they've got different setups that you can customise depending on how much money you want to spend. I'm pretty happy with the result !

Never saw this thread before - looking at the first post and seeing that only Lehkonen made it explains everything anyone needs to know about the state of this team. Our drafting and development has been such a let down!

Didn't even know you had a channel, just subbed. I hope others do the same.

I was coming to comment on this.

The other cool detail is Evans is the last player named under HMs.

Last player named to 3 year contract in 6ish years. Can't help but feel happy for the guy.

He's one of the all time board MVPs and an all around cool guy. All of the regulars around here should do him a solid and sub to his channel. It only takes a few seconds .

Yeah I been here for a while, know Montreal the poster and appreciate his insights. Didn't know of his channel, or this thread, though
