That 2015 ranking just killed me, this is the worst prospect ranking I’ve seen haha McCarron Sherbak Juulsen De La Rose in the top 5. It’s sad when the best player of the bunch ends up being Lehkonen

You would have done better in 2015 or do you get the advantage of hindsight in 2021?

2015 would look ugly no matter how you slice it, we were drafting and developing very poorly and MB and previous GMs had traded some value picks. But that's why I started the thread back then, so posters could see at the time where these guys were ranked, who progressed vs who regressed.

At the end of the day it's all just entertainment as these lists mean little but are fun to put together and discuss.

P.S Not judging Montreal ranking at all
It's bad! Hopefully our long term future seems more secure. Habs have had a bunch of extra picks these last 3 drafts. Combined with adding Bouchard in Laval, he seems to be a good development guy. Going by change in Koktaniemi. Only real player he had to work with. Extra picks and Joel in Laval should transfer to more NHL caliber talent. One would think

Jake Evans and Vejdemo have benefitted from Bouchard.. I would say Fleury to some extent as well. Jake Evans under Lefebvre would have never improved.

So I'm trying something new, not sure why it's taken me this long to think of it but if it goes over well I will run with it.

I have created a video of clips from my top 30 list, broken down into 3 parts. The first part is out, but I figure the next 2 will be a decent amount longer and 3 10's just seemed like a good idea.

Thanks for this and for the other videos. Although I must ask, what do you use to record and to edit your videos? If I can give you one constructive comment, you should work more on editing and cropping. It can be tedious, but seeing the pause/play button at the bottom of the screen is kind of annoying and also not having the play take all of the video screen also is. Idk if you cropped the clips for this video, if you did, that's what I'm talking about. Also for short clips, edits aren't really necessary, but for longer videos like this one, maybe just say who is #30, who's #29, etc., and maybe show them on the ice or say their number, etc. Anything to help the viewers get in context.

I did a lot of Call of Duty video edits back in 2012 (lol), so I know it can be long, tedious and if your computer isn't all that, it can be laggy... But it would 100% help the viewers. Again, thank you for these :)

one thing that might work to grow your subscription numbers is doing the whole 'Kaiden Ghule DESTROYS _____'. It's cynical and dumb but I think it works?
Absolutely! Thumbnails I'd say are also very important

Something like a picture of Norlinder, Strubble or Romanov and you put TOP 10 in big red/yellow impact font letters. People like their rankings and top 10. Also historic top tens, like top 10 of players who dominated WJC but busted or top 10 of players who did nothing at the WJC but became stars

I was going to wait to do the year end ranking after the playoffs but since I didn't think we would get past the leafs, i've had my list mostly done for the past few weeks and got tired of waiting. Going to try something different this time around, will release them in 3 parts, part I is out now, part II 15th to 6th will be out in a few days followed by part III. Caufield and Romanov have graduated and I don't count players on AHL contracts.

Has Evan's graduated? I think so.

Our prospect pool won't look as good as the last two years, but because of a good thing: our top prospects have graduated. Suzuki, KK, Caufield, Romanov, Evans. But our future young core is looking good.

#1 is Guhle. Imo Poehling has stepped up to #2 ahead of Primeau, Norlinder, etc...

I prefer Norlinder upside even if Poehling floor is better. Still unsure he can be more than a 3C/3lw. Completely agree on Guhle though. We'll need to begin drafting more high upside forward as our pool is deep at the D and G position. Farell just miss my top 10 and could be the biggest riser in the next couple of years

My top 10 would be

1. Guhle
2. Norlinder
3. Poehling
4. Harris
5. Primeau
6. Ylonen
7. Brook
8. Mysak
9. Tuch
10. Struble

Yeah I'm high on Farrell's upside, but hard to take any of those players out of the top 10. I also like Fairbrother. The top 12 are all solid NHL hopefuls, although most of the big guns have graduated.

We could still use a dman with number 1 potential. Dmen are Tommins strong point
So I don't mind building up assets. That Gainey and MB failed to get good returns on McDonagh and Sergachev doesn't negate my preference for drafting for talent first and then converting it to need later by trade.

Gordin's skating is a concern, he doesn't move his feet enough and I like Pitlick I thought he would have a better season after repeating their league. Dichow I have barely seen so it's just a maybe there's something there. I will get to see him next year as long as he gets decent playing time in Allsvenskan.

Yes Evans has graduated as I had him graduated in my last rankings.

We have 11 picks coming up next month (at least for now) and 4 of them are top 74 picks so hopefully we get some good ones to go with what I think is a very solid top 15.

Yeah, Farrell, Fairbrother, RHP, Teasdale, and Dobes are also good prospects.

Interesting that one of our only prospects that we’ve seen in the NHL already (fleury) is ranked so low. He seemed to have flashes of top 4 potential.

I had a tough time between him and Fairbrother but I do like Fleury, just hate how they have handled him and now he's played just 36 games in Laval from this season and last. During that time he's scored only 2 goals after showing a lot more offense in his rookie year. He has the tools to be a solid NHLer but I really question the IQ as his defensive decisions can be very suspect. That said with his skating, mobility, speed, size, strength, physical game, big shot, there's a lot to like.

This is a very deep prospect pool. Without CC there's not a lot of high end talent of course but a lot of interesting prospects.

Interested to hear your rationale on two things:
Mysak below Teasdale
Brook ahead of Struble.

Mysak was tough as he played so little this year, he did get 2 goals in 18 games and showed some really good things but he needs to add a lot of strength and mass. Just not sure about how high his offensive upside is.

Teasdale impressed me this year, don't like the skating or speed but he's got hands, works hard and is willing to get his nose dirty. I had him flipped with Mysak but he had such a good year I thought I should move him higher.

Brook has more offensive upside imo, Struble the better physical game. Both have questions about their IQ in the defensive zone. I actually had Brook at 6 and Harris 7 but I went with the higher IQ in Harris and I just didn't like the look of teammates back to back at 7/8 and the same for the Q guys in Teasdale/RHP at 12/13 as it felt like they shouldn't be back to back.

Part II (15th - 6th)

Part I (25th - 16th)

Mysak at 12 is pretty shocking but I haven't seen enough to say. If he has anything close to Caufield's offseason this kid could really be something. From the plek meeting and Bouchard's comments you can't help but think he's going to do whatever it takes to be his best which could be really something. Great D play with a fantastic shot and nice mitts. Even if he doesn't evolve into an offensive dynamo, he can still be a great bottom 6er. He does have the skills though.

That top 15 though is rock solid no matter how you slice it. Especially when you consider the kids that are on the team now. I'm excited.
