Really didn't take long to go from "wtf we aren't giving up anything for your top-4 d-man" to "wow, he's a stud. stud. top pairing d-man. Hope we can sign him to an extension."

I ****ing hate this place so much.

It really is a shithole, especially amongst the Canadian fanbases. There are just so many hockey fans in Canada the ratio of smart fan to legion of idiot children gets bigger and bigger.

Go to any big NFL forum, and it’s pretty similar.

Leaves Fans loving them some Muzzin:::::::::::

""Jake Muzzin? How did we get this guy for nothing? Guy fills a gap better than any dman I have seen since Bobby Baun.
Guy just fills you in like a doughnut. Leaf fans, this is a huge Dubas win""

Just a great, well-rounded defenceman. Should help a ton in the playoffs.

Rielly 63.3cf%, 62.5scf%
Muzzin 69.7cf%, 68.1scf%
up against one of the super-elite possession lines in hockey. studly.

he sure is fun to watch. Hopefully his hitting becomes contagious

Toughness is most definitely contagious.
Looks a lot funner when people on your team are the ones initiating it!

He looks great. Great job by Dubas.

Love Muzzin.What a stud man.

Looks like a top pair d-man to me

Really weird having a defensemen who can actually put a puck through on net

he looks like a perfect fit so far. so smart and poised out there, and you can tell other teams don't like entering the zone on his side. he's perfect for opening Rielly up to dominate offensively

Muzzin is a good fit for the Leafs. He will help them, and the Kings have some work to do to make sure the trade helps them in the future. Can't swing at any more pitches in the dirt in the 1st round of the draft.

Interesting that Jake, or the Leafs, picked out the #8 for him to wear.

All the Muzzin praise just reinforces the effect of the 3 hour difference, along with just how terrible Toronto's defense has been.

Seriously. If Doughty played in Toronto, he would without a doubt be the most heralded defenseman in the lockout era. I’m not even kidding. Toronto fans would be starting threads on the main board like “Doughty 2014 vs Lidstrom 2008 vs Bourque 1993???” Karlsson would be an afterthought of an afterthought around here.

First it was that Toronto didn’t give up anything for him.

Then Liljegren took a bit of a hit and Toronto fans felt slighted LA took Durzi.

You know how you guys say Muzzin is solid most of the time but makes an egregious error at times?

From what I've seen, for every error Muzzin has made, Gardiner makes 3 really bad ones and Zaitsev makes 5. It's just brutal over here.

I was close to arguing you on this, but I'm pretty close to starting a "Jake Muzzin Feb 2019 vs Lidstrom 2008" thread :sarcasm:

Honestly though, you guys spoke highly of Muzzin to us when the deal happened, and his first two games have been awesome. He's exactly what we needed on our defense, Rielly appears comfortable playing the right side with him.

I see Grundstrom played a couple games for the Reign. Did anyone here watch those games? I was a big fan of Grundy, wanted him to be a Leaf. I can honestly see him becoming a top 6 F for the Kings.

Cheers.

Well the Reign are just as bad as the Kings this year so their last 2 games have been abysmal, but we have heard positive reports about Grundstrom

Futa is good, Havent you heard ?

Dont know why that idiot has a job.

Why do you think Futa is bad? He is essentially a scout, he provides reports on players, but he is not the one in charge of who gets drafted. Look at the differences in players drafted since Blake took over for Deano. Due to his work not being very public facing, it is hard to evaluate him. However, the fact that he is constantly rumored to be a possibility when GM positions open up leads me to believe that his work is very respected around the league.

Thanks for posting and glad Jake's doing well. Maybe Doughty and Kopitar will be jealous and see Jake being part of something good - and want to be playing on a top level hockey team, that is going for the Cup and waive their no trade clauses. Cuz honestly, not enough skill, talent, or identity in LA now. They should both envision themselves on a team that has that and going for champioinships and want that - more than their beach lifestyle...but sadly, they probably will choose the latter....Muzzin just got the best return the Kings will get, than any of the 2 maladroits - Carter, Toffoli, and the other tradeables: Martinez, Hagelin, Lewis, Thompson, etc.

Hopefully, GMs will take notice how well Muzzin is playing and SEE extra value in Martinez - that he is underrated too and on a great contract and offer a #2 plus prospect as good as Grundstrom. That's about the best Kings will do on the others that will be outgoing. Quick could possibly fetch something that good or better, if they retain some salary or take back a contract that is 'a little unsavory'. (not TOTAL unsavory, ala Phanooof)

Amart is probably the next highest net worth asset.

I can’t see Quick moved. Who?

Carter and Toffoli are at low value.

Shed the ufa’s at the deadline and see what doors open at the draft.

Just let us be miserable and dislike you, dammit.

Edit: Obviously, we know there are some very smart Leaf fans. Crapping on your fanbase is just a meme at this point.

I am definitely a Muzzin fan, and I’d rather you guys win a Cup than San Jose.

Some people like to say how bad Futa is without providing any cohesive thought or argument. They like to piggy back the arguments made by others who are disappointed with Futa's body of work and make blanket statements. Granted, as much as I disagree with Ziggy Stardust and damacles, for example, they have at least been consistent in their criticisms with Futa. I'm sure I'm missing others, too, but some are lazy with their criticisms of Futa.

Again, the biggest bane in the Kings organization is the utter failure to develop the players. Here is their development and coaching staff:

Director of player development: Glen Murray
Player Development: Mike Donnelly, Sean O'Donnell, Jarrett Stoll, Craig Johnson
Goalie Development: Dusty Imoo
S&C: Jeremy Clark

Ontario Reign Coaching Staff:
Head Coach: Mike Stothers
Assistant Coach: David Bell, Jaroslav Modry

LA Kings Coaching Staff:
Head Coach: Willie Desjardins
Assistant Coach: Dave Lowry, Marco Sturm
Goalie coach: Bill Ranford

There aren't a whole lot of people involved in development or coaching which inspires talent or has shown results. And I still don't see how Adam Oates, who was hired as a consultant, has had any tangible results for players getting better.

I still maintain the Kings have made some good picks, which suggest good scouting, but the development staff (especially with forwards) has yet to show a reliable ability to bring the best out of the staff.

who knew that jersey color & logo was so powerful?

I think we have a good way of developing defensemen. Hell we made MacDermid a fringe NHL player which I never thought was possible. But I do agree with the fact that we cannot develop forwards offensively. I think we are good at making players into NHL players, but we can't cultivate offensive talent. Toffoli is the only player I think that was able to actually use his offensive talents and apply it to the NHL, at least for a little while.

We've been amazing at developing goalies.

We've been great at developing d-men as well as coaxing the defensive/two-way abilities of most forwards.

We've been godawful at developing offensive/dynamic abilities of ANY position players, particularly forwards, but also offensive d-men. Part of that is the lack of top-end picks, but most of our scoring pop beyond Kopitar and Brown has come from trades outside the org. Maybe Simmonds picks up his game here, maybe he doesn't because we never give him PP time. Maybe Schenn does, maybe not, etc. Hard to maybe say definitively because very few skilled/scoring forwards have been here since being drafted. But it's a clear area of weakness for the development staff.

Desjardins and a Lowry should go asap. Like right after the season ends heres your pink slip. I still think they did best when Bernie and then Turgeon were around.

Speaking of them, is Oates still "employed" by the Kings? I think after working with L.A. this season, his business should be considered a scam!

the majority of leafs fans are very realistic, like me. our d is better now with the trade, our forwards are way too soft, we need one more dman and some grit in our forward group. our pp sucks.
