Since we sharing music…..one of my favs from one of my favourite bands of all time!!

Tragic ending to the lead singer of course

Always fascinated how we get hooked on a track and it becomes our favorite from a given band. I had never heard the Whiskey track and can’t even remember it ever getting airplay on our main local rock station.

Of course, this one played endlessly and I never got fed up of it:

Just saw that KWS released a new re-record and new video today for his Blue on Black song which was first released 25 years ago. Such a great tune and hard to believe it was released 25 years ago already.

New video.

Original video from 1997.

Goddamit @sheed, what have you done to me! I’m in love with this song, especially the version from 25 years ago. The guitar solo on the original is just exquisite.

Ever since I’ve heard it the first time, I have it playing on loop every time I drive out. I love everything about it, including the lyrics — so simple and yet so effective.

Night falls and I'm alone
Skin, yeah, chilled me to the bone
You turned and you ran, oh yeah
Oh oh, slipped right from my hand

Yeah

Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on a shove
It don't mean much
Joker on jack
Match on a fire
Cold on ice
A dead man's touch

Whisper on a scream
Never change a thing
Doesn't bring you back
It's like blue on black

Blind, oh, but now I see
Truth, lies and in between
Wrong can't be undone, oh no
Well it slipped from the tip of your tongue

Yeah

Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on a shove
It don't mean much
Joker on jack
Match on a fire
Cold on ice
A dead man's touch

Whisper on a scream
Never change a thing
Doesn't bring you back
It's blue on black

Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on a shove
It don't mean much

Blue on black
Tears on a river
Push on a shove
It don't mean much
Joker on jack
Match on a fire
Cold on ice
A dead man's touch

Whisper on a scream
Never change a thing
Doesn't bring you back
It's blue on black

Yeah, blue on black
Yeah, it's blue on bl
ack
Yeah, blue on black

I went to the Pink Floyd: The Mortal Remains last weekend. It's pretty cool.. but it's a bit pricey. I had seen most of the docu-vids that they show so that was a bit of a disappointment (but it probably shows that I really like the band). There are a lot of stuff that they're showing though: guitars (replicas... meh), drums, keyboards, guitar pedals (a lot of them), book notes (songwriting process), costumes, inflatable replicas from the shows, etc. It is probably still worth it if you're a fan. It finishes off with the Live 8 performance when the band was fully reunited for a last time (with a full live light show that blinds you at time as it's so dark inside).

There is no Dark Side of the Moon, really. As of a matter of fact, it's all dark.

That sax solo never gets old

It can really add to a piece when done well.
Saw a few post here and there and this one stood out a few pages back, brilliant. Should have mentioned the flute as well, timely and effective, criminally unknown and under appreciated in North America, sad.

Sit back and enjoy a few numbers from Miley's New Years eve party.

I like the brass ensemble, adds a ot.

Wouldn't mind putting my Parton Dolly.lol.

I was listening to CHOM this morning and I was a bit surprised to hear that Styx still wasn't even nominated once to the Rock Hall of Fame. Meanwhile there are some artists getting in that are... well.. weird choices. They've been eligible since 1998! :amazed:

Thin Lizzy without Phil Lynott is not Thin Lizzy.......kinda gross that the coat hangers in the band still tour under the Thin Lizzy name. I am not a huge fan of the band but Lynott was an interesting talent and was crucial in helping to break down racial stereotypes in the hard rock genre.

He took a different career path than his two rivals/contemporaries Clapton and Page, but Jeff Beck may have been the more truly influential and inventive of the bunch, especially early on. It's kind of sad than not as many people know about him nowadays, but the guy basically invented what the ''guitar hero'' became and still is to a large degree. RIP to a true legend ! I dig a lot of his band stuff, especially the 70's period. Here one as a little tribute:

You can say that about a lot of bands, revolving doors. Check out Deep Purple, what a joke, same as Sabbath.

No need to preach to me being an activist and all, pretty tight with Pete too, know them?
