Love me some Tom Petty. He was an early influence on my life but on a ski trip to Apex Alpine something oddly clicked. That would be 1989 for those keeping track. I sort of obsessed from that point on and was really fortunate to see him in concert probably more than any other band I've ever seen in concert. Last show I saw was Target Center in the summer before he passed away. I'd been down to Minneapolis a number of times to see him and thankfully made that trip as well. He was always so humble and almost every show I ever saw he had the opening act up on stage for a number of songs. The exception was a Winnipeg show with Joe Cocker who never came out, totally weird. The last show in Minneapolis was with Joe Walsh who played almost a 90 minute show and indeed had a couple of songs with Tom later in the show.

One of the few artists I've seen that has been able to separate his politics from his performance (Tom was a strong democrat) which I appreciate immensely.

Listening to this tonight ...

Major harr spiny'...

Billy Idol intimate... and sober...

That was awesome... a bonus being a polished Steve Stevens... talented man...

I love the story Billy tells of Rebel Yell... and love the lyrics of that tune... "dont' F with my hair" and something about "Head".... ... absolutely love the story of Dancing With Myself... "F me stiff, they're playing my song"... loved it because my buddies and I would tear up bars just the same way when that tune came on...

Thanks for posting that 'norman...

:thumbu:

It's been a while since I've played some Beasties...

From 92'...

I think about this tune a lot these days... all these Activists... angry... now, now...

Whatcha' want... ?

Just watched this vid with my 20 year old.
